Yaletown L’Antipasto follows in the tradition of Mediterranean tapas bars where you can come by anytime of the day and find what you’re looking for. Offering an authentic and varied menu including freshly baked croissants & pastries, home-made soups & paninis, nightly pasta specials and more.
I went here for lunch with a colleague. Firstly, the all-male servers were overly ambitious to take our order (which is great) but finally when we were actually ready to order... they were nowhere to be found. The wine also needed a second.
The glasses were dirty and mine still had a lipstick stain on it. The waiter barely reacted when I pointed out the fact.
I ordered the garlic bread with pasta and fish and it wasn't great.... it was very salty. For lunch, I had the appetizer size of the gnocci, as it was recommend by the server. It was tasty but arrived luke warm, almost cold. Again this was shunned off by the waiter.
I work downtown and stopped in here for quick lunch and it was blown away. The food is out of this world delicious and was served quickly but polite staff. The cook loves what she does and it shows. A great atmosphere to just get away from your worries of work, even if it is only for a small period of time. They have daily soup and pasta specials. Can't wait till go here again.
This little gem has been open since about mid-november and since then I have been there many times. The real grabber for me was the head chef/cook who makes each dish with love and authenticity (It doesn't hurt that she's a real italian mamma ^_^) The ambience is a mix all things great: trendy, cozy, romantic, soft music in the background mixing with the bilingual chatter from the patrons and friendly staff. Definitely an experience to savour. My Faves: any of the specialty coffees featuring organic beans, Beef tenderloin carpaccio as a starter and my self-titled "Dessert Triple header" consisting of Tiramisu, Panna Cotta, and Chocolate Mousse.
