Ya Yah serves authentic Thai food with fresh, healthy and delicious flavours.
We ate here recently for the first time after checking out the reviews here. The food was ok, but nothing made it stand out above similar restaurants in the area. We ordered chicken red curry, realizing that this is one of those Thai places that serves a more soup-like curry (i.e., when you spoon it over your pile of rice it runs through and forms a puddle on your plate). It's a matter of personal preference, we just like curry sauces that are slightly thicker/creamier. The beef salad was also ok, although the meat seemed like it had been cooked a while before and was a bit tough. This type of salad is far better when the meat is freshly cooked and tossed with the other ingredients just before serving. Our noodle dish was good, fresh and not all stuck together. Service was pleasant and attentive, which was a nice plus since many other spots on the Drive seem to fall short in that area.
I have been to ya yah and the curries were SO nice. It was tasty with the flavor of thai herbs and the pad thai noodles were tasty and made you feel like you were in a resurant in thailand. The resturant is a quaint, cozy, warmy and has an inviting decor with a collection of watercolour paintings by the owner.
I had dinner at Ya Yah Thai cuisine the other night and it was great. Not having much experience in Thai food I asked the waitress for some thing not to hot. She suggested mild Pad Thai and yellow curry. The portion size was to big so I took some home. My partner also enjoyed her meal of vegetarian spring rolls and what I think was tom som soup.
Cozy and cute we will return and tell our friends about this quaint restaurant and thanks to euw for the great service
Our "medium" spiced dishes were nearly unedible - just way too hot. Decor and ambiance is lacking - the place felt half-finished. Taste was nothing special. Servers were attentive, expect a language barrier (if you're an English speaker), but inexperienced. Cost was high for what it was. I'd skip it. There is much better Thai around town.
Had lunch at ya yah today incredible red curry and veggie sping rolls.Very cozy and nicely decorated with traditional art work and other Thai relics. Apparently new to Commercial Drive. It must be good because even Monks were having lunch there. Good luck to them as the should do very well from what I saw.
