Wings Tap & Grill is more than just a NY style wing place with a wide combination of wings and sauces. We are also a Sports bar, complete with a full menu featuring everything from salads to appetizers to burgers and a variety of pasta dishes. All served in a relaxing, comfortable atmosphere where people like to hang out with friends, watch their favorite game on one of the many TVs and munch on some great wings.
I've been here 3 times. Usually it's mediocre at best, but last night when I went to get some drinks with a few friends. Everyone was so rude and useless.
There was no hostess...we waited at the door for a few minutes and no one came to help us. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very rude and unfriendly. He didn't crack a smile once. He forgot my friend's order and I can live with that, because it's a normal mistake. But he wasn't apologetic at all.
30 minutes before closing, they started to kick us out and I just felt so uncomfortable being there because it was obvious they didn't want to be.
I would probably go there again just for drinks but I don't expect much from them.
Hello.
Date: April 18.2012.
My 2nd time @ Wing in Granville Street. I called earlier to inquire about seats being taken and inquired when is a good time to get seats. I went early and I was able to obtain seats for friends coming.
My 2 friends came and we (3 people) decided to order the 47cent wings before 5pm. We ordered 70 as we wanted to order most of the flavors and consume it during the Pens game. As friends dropped by later on and took seats we offered to share our wings. The owner/manager, warned me personally that if we were going to share the wings, I would be kicked out. I was surprised, this never happened to me, I thought it was a joke! Anyway, I continued to share my wings with my friends that came. The gentlemen came back to me and told me in a condescending tone "I AM GOING TO KICK YOU OUT, I TOLD YOU NOT TO SHARE, THIS IS NOT A BUFFET BAR." At that point, I had NO idea what he was talking about, but his tone and demeanor was condescending it was ridiculous. It ruined my night.
Basically he was saying not to share the wings that I bought before the 5pm deal with people that came later on during the night. He told me that I was the only one that did that in the restaurant. He said he had a poster about that deal, but it did not say not to share.
Anyway, his lack of communication and his condescending tone letting me know of the situation was uncalled for and very unsatisfactory. I plan on going back letting them know how I feel personally.
Cheers
So I’m a wings fan just like anyone else here in the greater Vancool area, however with this particular location I have some concerns that I want to address to my fellow wing comrade in arms. In my opinion to get the full gist of how a place operates you have to go to it a few times. Here is where it gets stinky.
1. Wings special .39 cents, how ever you have to get a drink with it and there are no refills , not to mention .39 cent charge for wings not eaten. Come on is pop really and serious overhead.
2. Make sure to count your wings, yes I’m not kidding you. Three times I have had to do this and they were off by like 4 wings. “Oh whatever just 4 wings right”, think about it if there doing this to everyone , your wallets are not smiling during happy hour.
3. Service – Not very cohesive at all, 1 server that’s here then disappears, 2 back servers that flick there hair look at their phones and bring the wrong orders to you, and a hostess that some times wipes the tables , and has the look of “ Shucks chuck What I’m a doing with my life” , and has no idea what going on.
4. Lady Bombay – I’m thinking she is the owner because amongst all the cute servers she looks so out of place. This person is rude, not flexible at all with her customers, and has an attitude not suited for the service industry, Lady Bombay I recommend the dry cleaning business.
5. Ambiance – Well is what it is , nothing to right home about, seats could be cleaned and whipped down once and a while because it looks like it has not been done for some time.
Went during a weekday to watch a hockey game. Their TV's are too small for the room and the large screen is too blurry. Not a place to catch a game. On to the food, ordered the thai and jamaican wings, pretty good, but the wings were a bit small. About a dozen flavours to choose from. Ordered their build your own pasta. Had the meat sauce and it was really bad. Too sweet, don't know why (onions or added sugar) and left about 1/2 of it. Service was pretty good and attentive. Overall, would not go back.
My first and only experience with this place was June 2010 when I ordered two items for take-out. There were 3 problems.
1.The main problem was that everything I had paid cash for was not included in the take-out bag. I didn't have the time to go back and resolve the problem so I phoned expecting a credit or refund. More on that in a minute.
2.The food was so bad that both myself and the people I planned to share the food with couldn't eat it and it went into the garbage. Had the order been complete and with the condiments, it might have helped.
3.I called, was very respectful with staff, and two different staff members left messages for Sunita Singh, owner. Weeks later she has still not called either my work or home number. I was really nice. Now I'm disgusted.
I was willing to overlook the problem of the sub-standard food, but not the blatant THEFT and disregard for people's concerns. Even the Customer Service phone number on the bottom of the receipt is bogus. The staff were very nice - it's the owner that's the problem - do not waste your time here.
Myself and my co-workers - I have a lot of co-workers so word gets out - have vowed to not return to Wings on account of the total lack of customer service and what amounts to theft for which I blame the owner.
DO NOT GET TAKE-OUT OR EAT HERE.
I needed to eat some wings after a hard week at work, so three of my intrepid companions and I made the pilgrimage to WoG. We started off with a couple of pitchers of blonde ale which was on sale, and ordered 4 pounds of wings just in time to get the discount price: pineapple curry, Jamaican, sweet Thai, and honey garlic. Anything on sale tastes better than full price. The beer was tasty, but I have to say the pitchers were awfully small. As for the wings, they were quite good, not over-cooked and rather juicy, although the Jamaican sauce was a little too hot for me. At least I think it was that one. All the wings came on a big platter and I couldn’t really tell which was which except by tasting. We also tried the blue cheese dip, which was basically salad dressing and therefore a bit of a rip-off especially because it cost extra.
We also had the spinach salad, which was fresh, and the Texas fries, which had great flavour, except if they are “Texas” fries, the actual fries should be big (i.e. Texas sized). They were just normal sized. So that definitely diminished the experience. For desert, two of the group had tiramisu, which was reported to be good.
The service was excellent, and the server was very helpful in explaining the various wing sauces, etc. The ambience was nice enough, but for some reason as soon as the wing special ended the staff cranked the stereo way too high. Something I didn’t expect was that most of the diners appeared to be Asian ESL students. I expected Yaletown hipsters or Yankee tourists. Must be all the nearby language schools.
My one quibble was the ridiculous washroom arrangement: you have to get a keycard and wander into the hotel lobby next door. That was quite annoying and the w/c was rather nasty. Other than that one quibble, I found that WoG was a good place to get wings.
I went to Wings on Grandville one Saturday, and I guess it was extremely busy since there was a Canucks game that night. We arrived at 5:30, was ushered to our table since I had called and made a reservation. (they told me they don't accept reservations on Fridays and Saturdays, but they made an exception or something). Our waiter seemed ok, but it was obvious he was really busy. When late comers to our group came, it took them forever to get a glass of water along with water refills for the rest of the group. We asked our waiter and whoever else who passed by that worked there for more water but we never got any until we asked this lady who seemed like the boss's wife or something. Our waiter never came to our table unless he was taking our orders or delivering us food. It took way too much effort to try and flag him down. It also took forever to get our bill. You would think they would hire more staff at a busy downtown location.
Other than bad service, the food was good. I loved the honey garlic wings the best. I ordered some salmon entree dish with mashed potatoes. I'm not sure if I was supposed to get gravy or not with the potatoes, and I couldn't ask anyone since they were all too busy. The salmon had a really salty skin, so i just ate the potatoes and salmon together to cancel out the harsh salty flavour. There was a tiny bit of roasted veggies with that plate... I could have done with some more.
So something I would tell others: Stick to the wings.
We came as a group of 6 but the only seating available would be near the back. The seats in the front part of the restaurant were too small and could only accomodate 5 people per table at most.
We decided to do the 39 Cent wings deal between 2 PM - 5 PM and we ordered one drink which would get us that deal.
The restaurant was very quiet and empty and the waitress was able to commit most of her time to us. She gave us refills for water frequently and supplied us with more napkins and moist napkins as our fingers got more filthy.
One important thing to note: If you do not finish your wings and wish to have them wrapped for take out, you will be charged for the regular price for the wings rather than the 39 Cent wing deal price. Its apparently "store policy" that if you do not finish everything during dine in, you'll be charged.
The wings were good; I loved the Tokyo, Honey Garlic and Greek wings. I don't understand how peopel could go there for reasons other than for feasting on wings, which is their specialty and their emphasis
Worst management I've ever seen. We got our bill and got overcharged on a bunch of items. The computer had a different price than the menu price, so they decided the menu prices were just special prices with time restrictions. NO WHERE in the entire menu was this mentioned. We tried to kindly ask the manager to help us fix the bill, and instead she made up a bunch of arguments as to why we should have to pay the higher price. She was a total bitch and had no sympathy for their fuck up. She refused to give us the menu price and made us pay the high computer-price. CHEATERS and SCAM-ARTISTS, and the food wasn't that great either.
I will never go back there again unless to order a shit ton of water on their busiest evening at their biggest table, and make sure to empty all the salt shakers on the floor and in the seats.
Food was good and it came out fast but service freaking sucked! I've never had such bad service and trust me, I will never go back there again. I've never been so upset in my life at a restaurant. Sometimes I understand if it's service isn't up to par but the staff at Wings were so chill that they were just hanging out while my boyfriend and I were waiting for drinks and our bill. We literally waited 20 minutes for our bill because our server was dumb and didn't think we wanted it, nor did she ask us if we did because apparently she was too busy standing around talking to the other waitresses. Gosh! She got me so angry I wanted to write bad service on some kind of paper. They should really have customer service evaluations for us to do. What made me even angrier was the fact that the manager was standing with them just relaxing. Like what kind of place are you running? I will never be back here. However, the food was good so I will be going to different locations of Wings, I hear that the Surrey location has the best service. For good service, I'll be willing to drive.
Not that I'm complaining... I like the honey garlic, lemon and salt something, Greek something or other... I don't think it really matters which one you end up getting - the wings are crispy and juicy - plump and hot... though once we got lukewarm wings (honey garlic) and it doesn't taste so great..
The beer isn't cheap, but at least there is a variety... Wings has a in-house beer - only $12.99 a pitcher. usually busy on a friday and saturday.. The restaurant is a little grubby - I would be a little scared to see what the place looks like in light :-P
I've been to Wings more times than I can count and I'd have to say my experience there has been consistently good. I admit, I usually have the same thing when I go - wings/appies & beer. I've never ordered an entrée here, so I can't comment on them. Their veggie plate is always good - but it's really hard to mess up fresh vegetables. The Texas Fries are good as well - a little heavy on the cumin last time I got them - but generally speaking, a good "pub food" option.
I have tried almost every flavour of wings and some of my favourites are the Chicago Salt & Pepper, the Greek and the Outlaw Mexicali. There was only one kind I can honestly say I really didn't like, but I think they took them off the menu anyways. The wings are hot, crispy and very flavourful, everything you look for in a chicken wing! The service is usually quite good - I think only once I had a mediocre server, but it was when I was with a large group so I think she was a bit flustered. I've been a server before, and large groups of people can be a handful sometimes. Most of the servers are quite friendly and always prompt with refills.
All in all, Wings is a great place to go watch the game and enjoy some good beer & wings with friends. I'll keep coming back.
Happened to drop by on a weekday afternoon. The place was empty and I chose to sit at the bar.
I had 2 lbs of wings and a beer. I get to choose a sauce for each lb of wings. The honey garlic was excellent but the greek was average.
I was seated at the bar in a near empty restaurant. There is no way they can screw up the service. So no complains here.
Room is nicely decorated and the booths look very cozy.
Overall, a good lunch/dinner. However, the best thing was the price. Wings were at half price during weekday afternoon. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the check. Will be back
I went to Wings on Granville with a group of friends a while back. We ordered the Shared Platter. There was really nothing special about this. A couple wings, a few spring rolls, some pita and dip, some pork ribs and tater tots(?!?). Didn't know how the tater tots tied in with the rest, but it was there!
Service was ok.
There are other places I'd like to try before going back here.
My boyfriend and I went to this restaurant tonight, and had an "interesting" experience. The waitress we had was relatively nice, and the food was pretty good...but the manager we spoke with was completely unacceptable. After only finishing 1/3 of my dinner, I asked the waitress to wrap it up to go. She threw it away. She did come over to apologize, which was great, but her manager also came by as well. The manager that worked there was completely unprofessional, rude, and uncaring about his restaurants service and reputation. We had wanted to use a coupon from the Entertainment book, but he came over to explain some of the details and stipulations of the coupon, and was completely condescending and started going on and on about how his business would lose money, and the cost of the advertisement. We, personally, DID NOT CARE. Despite the GREAT wings they had there, I will never go there again. If you like great wings and don't care about the service, go to Wings...I'd rather go to somewhere like Fogg n Sudds...at least they have consistantly good service!
I had dinner with 3 friends there on Friday, August 27. I ordered Calypso burger, my other friends ordered yam fries, nach 'r average nachos, stir fry bowls. Then I realized that I made a big mistake to step there for dinner, the burger I ordered, I think the chicken has been sitting there for days, it was as hard as a rock, even cheap McDonald chicken burger is 10 times better than that, the stir fry bowls' looked more like yucky canned food that they just pour it out and heat it up by microwave, tasted terrible, yam fries and nach 'r average nachos were alright, but please, don't go there for dinner or you will really regret it yourself, I'd rather sit inside Wendys and have their burger. Price was very expensive for the quality they serve, for "rocky" chicken meat burger cost me 9 bucks, stir fry bowls 8 bucks without any meat, yam fries was $6.50 and portion was kind of small, nach 'r average nachos was almost $12 including chicken meat, meh~! :(
Not to mention the atmosphere was dark and incredibly NOISY (we went there on Friday), the walk path was narrow and it was too dark so someone stepped on my feet, you have to walk almost outside to go to the washroom next door in the hotel, the place was also very uncomfortable, service was alright, they usually walk too fast to listen to your inquiry, and most of the time they will ignore you, the restaurant was busy, so I still could tolerate that, but not the food.
I will never ever go there again, what a nightmare restaurant for me on Friday night :(
I ended up at Wings because a friend was celebrating his birthday there. I knew in advance that there wouldn't be much on the menu I could eat (I'm a vegetarian), but usually even places like The Keg will have one or two veggie items for those poor souls who end up there against their will. I ended up ordering the spaghetti, which I asked if I could get with olive oil but they told me that wasn't possible. The spaghetti that did arrive was the most flavourless, inedible pasta I have ever been served. I just about emptied the entire contents of a salt shaker on the pasta to add some flavour and I'm not even a salt person. I was there with my girlfriend who was then a meat-eater but who also found the food inedible. (Good to know all their food is equally tasteless and that they're not singling out vegetarians for a bad food experience!) As for the interior, it's your typical, lifeless sports bar. The poor waitresses obviously have to deal with drunken guys all day and I really felt bad for them. Overall, Wings is one of the least pleasant places I've had to spend a night in quite some time.
Preamble: busy weeknight out with the guys
Food: I only ate the chicken wings. Tried four flavors, was not crazy about Yukon Jack partially because of an inherent dislike for BBQ sauce and partially because it just didn't taste that good even taking that into account. Really loved the other three however: Toyko, Jamaican and some new lime flavor. Chicken had quite a lot of meat without being overly fatter. No need to use the dipping suaces as each flavor was distinct enough by itself.
Service: friendly, gave refills of pop to my friends quickly.
Value: $20 bucks total tax and tip for shared wings with a beer and pop for good wings is not outrageous.
Ambiance: a few large TVs scattered around but I wasn't overly impressed with the tight seating and poor lighting
This restaurant is located in the heart of Granville where all the bums are. I visited this location at the end of August - August 28th to be precise. After being turned off by the Burnaby location, this location is so much better, well at least the day I went. The waitress was very attentive. I think she was new. The food came really fast and the food servers were really friendly. Ambiance was okay. The place is really big and my big party was stuck all the way at the back where we had lots of room. The front tables are a bit crowded. Drinks are pretty good. You can certainly taste the alcohol in doubles and martinis, unlike some other restaurants that don't seem to pour enough. I recommend the sampler platter. It's such a good deal and you get all your favourite pub finger food.
The best Wings I've had downtown have been at the Two Parrots Pub. To try something else and for Wing Wednesday (35 cent Wings) my girlfriend and I walked down the street to Wings. Our first visit we ordered a plate of Nachos which sucked to be polite. It was more a plate of chips and salsa with a few strands of random cheese and that was it. I quickly came to realize that this place is called Wings because that is the only thing their menu focuses on. We tried several flavors and the taste was top notch, now if only they would put more sauce on their wings instead of me having to ask for more, it coming in a small side dish cup and me having to pay extra! They have a huge selection of dry rubs and specialty sauces that can't be beat but some of the wings look quite small and feeble like they came from the runt of the litter chicks which is quite a shame since the flavor is so mouth watering. As far as the service goes, it was not too bad. We've gone in a few times more just for the wings and a beer and because my girlfriend likes to sit in there some afternoons and read a book by their fireplace and enjoy a beer. The waitresses seem to always be different. We've had one really friendly one on two occasions which seemed to show more interest and we were pleased with, but overall it is probably a 5 out of 10. The layout and cozy booth feeling inside is very relaxing. If it wasn't for all the great wing flavors I probably would never go back here. If you do go, try the Louisiana Sweet, Maui Lime, and Tora Tora Tora Tokyo!
