People watch from the outdoor patio or relax in a more intimate setting inside this Greek/Italian restaurant located on trendy Robson Street in Vancouver.
This place has been around for years, and I go when I am in the mood for some lamb and people watching. The food is consistently good. Not great, but pretty good. The service varies as the staff constantly changes. I find the drinks are a little pricey for this class of restaurant. They do a decent Gyro here and the daily specials are okay.
A reliable restaurant when you are hungry on Robson.
Back in the 'ol days, we use to roll by White Tower to pick up the after hours 26er or two to go. They would serve booze late as well so it was a good spot to hit the patio in the wee hours, have a cocktail and watch the mayham on Robson. The food was never that good and still isn't.
It's been a fixture on Robson ever since I moved here 25 years ago. We decided to try it out and have been back two times since. True the decor probably dates back to the 70's but the service we had was very attentive and quick. They have very nice baked pasta dishes on special daily but the real draw is the pizza. Regardless of toppings their crust is light, airy, and crisp. They are not stingy with their cheese topping and is the case with many of those "by the slice" places. There's no kid's menu but mine were happy sharing pizza. Anyway it is one of our favorite choices now for quality pizza and pasta. My sister's and brother's families have re-discovered this place now as well. We have nothing bad to say about them.
We had lunch here on a cold rainy day and it was very cosy in this restaurant. The service was excellent and the food was in large portions. we enjoyed the meals and were also happy with two take outs we got on other days. Would recommend for family or casual dining.
I work nearby and order from Whitetower at least 3 times per week. They have always got my order perfect, on time and not charged me extra when I change little details like "no rice, but more salad etc."
They give you huge portion sizes so there are always leftovers for lunch! There food is perfectly cooked, nicely seasoned and the staff is kind to me every time!
Best for big eaters? Streak and prawns!!!! Comes with rice, cooked vegetables, salad, garlic bread etc. and is around 16.00 plus tax? Great deal. Like Chicken? Get the Chicken parmasan!! Amazing! Great Lamb as well and pizza cooked to perfection. Bonus? They are open until 2-3am and have excellent drinks and wines and beer as well! Overall 4.5 out of 5!
I have been eating here for the last ten years - back when I was a young pup and needed food after hitting the bars - and then when I lived around the corner.
Their roast lamb is the best and the portion sizes and prices provide great value. The sunrise pizza is a winner as well. Over all I would say that there aren't enough Mom & Pa good restaurants in Vancouver (GVRD) this is definitely one of them.
You go for the food and the value - but the ambiance and service is great too. They even had a very cute brunette waitress!!!
One of my favorite in vancouver
Well the place certainly isn't much to look at, but if you're in the mood for some good old classic bacon and egg breakfast than this is it! I ordered the Morning Breaker which consists of 2 eggs, 3 sausages, 3+ pieces of bacon, 4 pieces of toast, a mound of hash browns and a pancake for $8.95! Everything was cooked to perfection, the pancakes were fluffy, the bacon crispy but not overdone and the hash browns were great. The restaurant space has so much potential, but seriously needs to cut down on the fake plants which litter the place. They actually a pretty nice large patio with beautiful grape vines scaling the walls. Our waitress was friendly, and attentive. I will definitely return to the White Tower.
I've always had a special place in my heart for this restaurant. And I have to say, that I've never tasted better roast lamb then at white tower. The meat was falling off the bone and melting in my mouth. so delicious, and a huge portion no doubt. That's one thing i always like about white tower, the generous portions of food. I'd rather spend my $20 bucks here then at any other anducci's or milestones serving up their processed hormone infested plates, that cost almost too much. What do they think their serving? gold?
We were hungry and looking for some simple food and decent service and thought this small established place could do. We were still hopeful, even when we entered and saw that every guest was over 50 years old, which about matched the age of the furniture and decor. The menu was pretty diverse and we tried to quickly order, but it took about 20 minutes for the waitress to come to our table. After ordering it took about 45 minutes to get our food. When the food did come, it was bland and mediocre at best. Nothing but the cheapest and most banal ingredients. We probably saw our waitress three times total and it took 20 minutes to get our credit card back after giving our check, and that was after I went inside to find the waitress.
We visited the restaurant about a month ago and have been going back ever since.
the food is great excellent portions and extremely great value would
recommend to anyone. the staff is great and friendly also you feel at home
and the decor makes you feel comfortable the owner greats by name and
comes and visits you at your table he makes you feel like someone important
for a great night out go to white tower on robson street you won"t regret it
Ordered delivery on a Saturday night in the middle of summer, having never visited this restaurant we didn't know what to expect. What a surprise!
We ordered the White Tower Special Platter consists of the following:
Served with pita bread
The food was excellent - large portions and very well priced. Lots left over for lunch the next day. The service was amazing - delivery took less than 30 minutes! We actually had to let the food cool down a bit to eat it.
What an unexpected treat! We will definitely become frequent customers!
If you're looking for Greek food, this is not the place you want to go. The food is simply uninspired, bland, run of the mill Greek food. Lamb chops are to be avoided, unless you enjoy eating dried leather. The roast lamb and calamari are what you'd expect, and nothing more.
As much as the food is alright, what really kills this place is the horrendously tardy service. It takes about 15-20 minutes for the waitresses to even come and ask you what you'd like to drink. When that finally occurs, they don't return for another 20 minutes. If you finish your glass of water, don't expect to get any more unless you get out of your seat and find the waitress.
The only time I would eat here again is if I'm jonesing for Greek food at night, because this place is open until 3 am. Other than that, there are much better (and cheaper) options available.
