White Spot located in Kerrisdale, Vancouver. With over 60 locations in British Columbia and Alberta, White Spot has been serving unique, freshly prepared dishes in a contemporary, casual atmosphere for over 75 years.
Ok, it's not the best, but it's pretty darn good.
Thier burgers taste really good, and thier fries are just awesome.
I haven't had any appies thier for years and years, but I would assume that those are great too.
Thier desserts are great, service is usually good. Fries are re-fillable.
I like this restaurant. Good food and good times. This particular White Spot is probably geared towards seniors as it is in the Kerrisdale area, but none the less it is still great even for people in thier 20's and 30's
We tried this location on a recent Sunday evening. What a mistake.
I've noticed over the years that White Spot has become very spotty with their food between and at the same locations.
It was busy and had the usual amount of older folk. No problem. We were seated quickly but shortly after sitting down, we noticed it was incredibly muggy inside (was the A/C was out of commission?) Gripes. We were hungry and it was tolerable at the moment so we decided to deal with it.
Our server came and took our orders. She the Monty Burger with Yam Fries me the BC Burger with Caesar salads to start. We ordered a couple of cold drinks to get us through. Our salads came and to my dismay mine was swimming in water after I sifted through the lettuce (I had also noticed that the both of us had our Caesars served in different outfit). With the sweat coming down my forehead I passed on complaining and just drained the excess liquid into my bowl and ate what I could.
Our burgers came and already it looked unappealing. White Spot seems to be cutting down on the thickness of their patties (no more than 1cm thick) and smothered it with Triple-O sauce. No wonder their burgers are juicy, all I tasted was sauce. I ate what I could of the mayo burger and had the server clear it. My girlfriend's burger was better although her yam fries were overdone and not crispy.
We sweated a bit more before I walked up to the front to pay. The best part of this meal was stepping outside. What a breath of fresh air!
In all honestly I'm not sure how many more times I'd be willing to go to White Spot altogether for anything besides breakfast.
We have never been in a White Spot before and thought we would give it a go. We wouldn't go back any more.
Got through the front door, very long line to get a table, we waited about 20 minutes - wish we had nipped over to McDonalds over the road.
The staff member on the front desk looked completely frazzled and was snapping at arriving customers. Obviously she was in the wrong job poor dear The waitress who served at our table was very nice, calm and too classy for such an establishment!
Once of us had fish and chips. The fish was bad, the coating was quite good, the chips tasted as though they had been hanging around for a long time. The other one of us had the turkey dinner, the turkey tasted dry, stuff was as hard as rock, potatoes and other items were....less than average to what I have had in a British transport cafe on the grimmest of motorways.
The restaurant I guess looked like every other White Spot, decor looked a bit dated to me but it was clean. Not a calm environment, we were near the kitchen and constantly heard the staff shouting at each other. The restaurant was generally loud anyhow.
We have arrived home and our tastes buds are starting to make a recovery from the shock they experienced at White Spot. Hopefully in a couple of days they will make a full recovery.
I tried the Smoke salmon filet burger meal a year ago.
It was delicious but quite expensive $12; therefore, I went once so far.
The place is clean and the service is above average.
I would recommend others to go.
Since there are other places available in kerrisdale, many people choose to dine somewhere else besides the White Spot.
Food was great, ordered the ny steak and prawns for $24.95.My steak was tender and tasty, prawns were fresh and cooked perfectly. My lady friend had the roast Turkey and was most impressed. Service was good considering our waiter had many tables to wait on.We had the hot fudge brownie for dessert and it was plentifull and delicious. We also had the sweet potatoe fries and chicken wings. I must admit the hot wings were dry and a wee bit overcooked, but the chipotle mayo was awesome. Fries were decent, again the same sauce prevailed as excellent. This location has a small but aestetically pleasing bar and display fireplace as well.
We've been coming here for years and years. The food is always reliable, and the service is (usually) excellent (there have been a few staff who needed training!).
The menu is traditional White Spot, portions are good sizes, and the service is usually quick.
There are all the usual White Spot problems of noisy kids, long lineups at the "official" meal times (we usually go early to avoid that problem since we can only use 2-3 tables with our wheelchair).
I really dislike not being able to reserve when there's a good reason (like a wheelchair).
Objections - no power doors to get in; washrroms while clean are just NOT wheelchair friendly. It's taken more than a year before a loose toilet seat was fixed (we told them about it several times).
Despite this, it's one of our "old reliable" eateries -- we can bring guests here and know we'll get a good solid "Vancouver" meal.
I visited this White Spot a couple weeks back because I was in the area and had some time to kill. I was by no means in a rush so I wasn't watching the clock waiting for my food. I sat down, ordered a coffee and took probably 10 minutes or so perusing the menu. I then closed it and waited about another 10 before another server walked by and I asked her to send mine over so I could order. I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs and then read while I waited. I'm not entirely sure how long the food took, that was not really of consequence in this case, the issue was that when it arrived it looked like it had been sitting on the passbar for quite some time. I accepted the food and asked for a coffee refill (which I ended up having to ask for again as it never came) and the spaghetti wasn't terrible...just wasn't great. I finished up, asked for my bill, and recieved someone elses bill...It's not that I had an overly horrible experience or that anyone was rude or nasty but just a lot of little things that ad up to me never wanting to go back...
Expected the same friendly service as other White Spots especially being in Kerrisdale but the service at this one was very disappointing. One time, after waiting for over 5 mins and not being seated, we sat ourselves down in one of the many tables available that day (having view of the hockey game showing on TV). Then the waitress gave us attitude for sitting in that booth and told us to move to another one. We politely told her that we wanted to watch the game on TV so we did not want to move and she immediately stormed off mumbling words under her breath. Another time I ordered tea and found a transit transfer ticket dried up against the inside of the cup (I am not joking!). Overall bad service and dirty dishes/utensils. I would definitely try to stay away from this one but instead enjoy the other more friendly and service oriented ones.
My family went to White Spot Kerrisdale last night. The place had been closed for renovation earlier so we wanted to visit. It was a very busy place and the air was warm and inviting. My family including two children love their kid menu and legendary burgers. We have been many different White Spot across Lower Mainland and have been quite happy with White Spot until now.
We were served by a terrible waitress who did not show up for water until 15 minutes later. She purposely avoid eye contacts with us when we needed her, did not refill our drinks and eventually did not show up. After passing two of her messages by other servers, she assigned another waitress to our table. The second waitress was friendly and helpful. At the end, when we saw the bill, the first waitress, Diana, overcharged us for things we did not consume. We had to explain this to the second waitress who would have to go and ask for adjustment. The entire incident bothered us and ruined our evening.
Otherwise, White Spot is still a White Spot. I have no problem with their food and premises. I just wish that the manager would discover this negligent employee soon enough.
I will give a two star to this restuarant, overall
I ve given up on this location- I love their specialty, the white spot burger with triple o sauce, but everytime I ve been to this location it has been long waits, noise, confusion, and if its busy, impossible to get service. The last straw was getting an undercooked burger that was actually bloody in the middle- the manager did give me a coupon for a free burger but I was so dissapointed by the meal that I never went back.
I would steer clear of this restaraunt. They are ok for breakfast or a burger when not busy- but cookie cutter style restaraunts staffed by teenagers are a recipe for disater if they are not well run. My experience was the gamut you would expect of the bad restaraunt experience: noisey location, staff in the kitchen eating and yelling, long waits, wrong food brought to table, cold food (did I mention raw food?), over priced, overcooked or else reheated, stressed staff- you name it.
Other locations seem much more consistent and reliable: steer clear of this one.
We live in Kerrisdale which as many of you know, does not exactly have a lot of stellar or exciting dining options. Case in point - even a chain restaurant such as White Spot has crappy food. We have eaten there a handful of times, and basically anything not deep fried or grilled is totally disgusting. I don't expect amazing food when I go to the Spot, but the vegetables they serve are rotten, wilted and gross. This is the third time this has happened to me when ordering a salad or entree with a garnish, so I know they must be using produce that is past its due.
I've been doing White Spot since its inception on Granville. This was not only the worst meal that I've ever had at White Spot but possibly th worst meal anywhere.
I ordered the seniors turkey dinner.
It consisted of a few slices of extremely dry white meat on a bed of mashed potatoes covering it all was a gravy.
The stuffing came in the form of balls not unlike meat balls, hard and dried out.
The vegetable was asparagus.Three spears which must have been
merely dipped in hot water, they too were hard.In total it was a disaster.
I was invited by my son and family .Their selections were apparently OK.
Had I been on my own I would crtainly have said something to the waitress.I didn't want to create a stir.I'd never reurn
