Viet Sub is a small Vietnamese hole in the wall offering mostly takeout and a small seating area with stools. Serves Vietnamese subs (bahn mi), pho soup, etc.
If you dont order the special sub i pitty you.. They have fresh bread fresh ingredients and good food. You have to know going into this dining experience that this is a wham bam thank you mam "grab and go" style fast food place. The fresh cilantro on their subs really ties them together. I dont know what sauce they put on there subs but i find it to be delicious.
I recently had a sub from this place and it was good, not great. I tried the BBQ chicken sandwich and everything was decent except it was a little too saucy for my liking and there was something in it that shouldn't have been, no big deal. I am used to the more traditional style banh mi you get in East Van. I guess I shouldn't be too picky since there are not a lot of downtown Vietnamese sub shops (can't think of any other than this one).
The place itself is small and a little cramped. It was a little messy when I went in there right after the lunch rush. Also, for people eating in, do you really need to serve pho and all food items in styrofoam containers? This seems wasteful to me.
Anyways, I think I will stick to my usual haunts Vietnamese subs.
This started out as a promising place, location, fast eats, good price, but, I was very disappointed with the quality of food on the last visit and won't be going back. The food was undercooked and tasted off. I know, what do you expect for a 4 buck sub, but really what was that.
