An overall good burger

I thought everything was pretty solid for this place. No complaints after going here a couple of times. I enjoyed my little experience.

The food took a little while, but I would rather them take a little while for good food, than quick service with crappy food!

Will go back!

Friday night favourite

I found that the service at Vera's Burger shack is amazing, the staff is always smiling polite and friendly. I ordered a basic burger with all the toppings and a side of fries. It was by far the best burger i ever had. The ambiance was not fancy but it fitted the food perfectly. The prices are very resonable. Me and my family go there almost every friday night.

So if your looking for a restaurant on the drive, vera's buger shack will always be there

Half cooked burger, missing fries, and soggy sandwich
By ashley1884 of Commercail Drive (1 Review)
Submitted Friday, June 25, 2010 - 9:12pm [Dine in]

My boyfriend and i decided it would be fun to give Vera's meat a try so we made our way to the Commercial Drive location, just up from our home to order some food to go. The bill came to 32$, consisting of a canuck burger, an order of large fries, a large order of onion rings, a "Hail to the King" sandwich, and a large order of yam fries. it didn't take very long to get our food but the guy waiting on us was a bit of a jerk. When we got home, which takes like 5 minutes, we opened everything up and began to dig in.
We were missing our large fries order and instead got a bag of maybe 20 half cooked fries that were cold. The burger was only half cooked inside and the cheese was barely melted. The yam fries were so limp they conformed into some sort of unknown new vegetable, and again only half cooked. my sandwich was ok and the onion rings were more eatable then the rest. over all i wont be going back.

Damn, I just ate the biggest burger... Had a hot dog on it too! I also had onion rings (which I didn't need. I'm just too cheap to have thrown them out.) It costed about $13 with tip... But man, am I ever full.... Burger was awesome! Onion rings were not the crunchiest I have ever had... But they still beat fries. It took a bit to get the food.. Basically cause they actually cook it.. It's not McDonald's. However, I suggest you go with some friends so you can chill and be obnoxious while you wait for your food to arrive. Also saw some decent looking girls while I was there. And the girl at the counter had a nice accent. So, I'd go again... Maybe just for a burger though. No onion rings next time.

I noticed a new Vera's open on the Drive and decided to try it out. I waited, waited and waited for my food. I noticed other customers waiting a while and getting somewhat restless with the long wait. I think it took around 20-25 minutes to get a burger and fries. When it arrived, my burger was dry and even though I asked for "the works" they barely put anything in the burger, the yam fries were cold and rather bland. It was somewhat busy in there but noticed only two people working, one taking orders and one preparing the food, which seems a bit odd. When I sat down, I noticed the owner/manager? sitting in the corner constantly glancing over at the poor state of the restaurant and not doing anything about it.

Rancid cooking oil & burnt burgers
By zombywoof of east end vancouver (2 Reviews)

I have eaten here many times in the past. But this time the fries had a weird rancid taste. When do they change the oil? The burgers were dry and burnt. They are using frozen beef patties - how about using fresh hamburger? It will be a long time before I go back. Extremely over priced for the lack of quality.

decent but not great

Went there a couple of days ago and had the basic burger with fried onions, lettuce, tomato, mayo, ketchup etc. and fries. Burger was cooked pink like I like it but the meat had no flavour! The bun was slightly stale and the toppings were mediocre but I was really surprised at how tasteless the burger was. The fries were pretty good and overall the meal was not bad but not great.
