I started trying Urban sushi in October, had a great meal, I keep returning to try their other dishes, They have two restaurants in the same place, Urban Sushi and Urban Grill, tried both, and prefer their sushi.
I've had their Chicken teriyaki, Salmon Nigiri, Dynamite roll, Tempera, to my new favourite Chicken Udon soup. Their Udon soup is meal, love their broth, chicken and Rice udon noodles. The price does very on your order to $10.00 to $15.00, and I walk away full and happy.
The staff can be mixed, from warm and friendly to being annoyed to why you're there, some staff can be wealth information and some don't know their food product well. Depends on your server, how busy this place can be and how many people are waiting for meals. The location decor is simple and don't like the chairs by the sushi bar, I would say cheap and uncomfortable. As for the tables, close to your neighbours;but I've never had to wait, but at lunch or dinner times, I can see it being very busy.
I like this place for where its located, easy to catch your bus and the food is good. I wish they would change their sushi chairs...hint hint.
Watching the bumbling staff at Urban Sushi attempt to assemble your overpriced meal might be amusing - if you had a lot of time on your hands and someone else were paying. However, getting scolded by the manager for daring to ask what's taking so long - that deserves a poor review on dinehere.ca. There are so many better sushi options in the neighborhood.
Recently tried this place before the Canucks game last month... Ended up going there 2 or 3 times this playoff run.
Great for a quick bite that's good value (especially for downtown!).
Don't really have many complaints, tuna always tasted good and I enjoyed their "urban" roll.
Also had agedashi tofu one night, portion size was great and the taste was alright.
I'm pretty hard to please when it comes to Japanese food so...
Will definitely go back.
I'm a bit of a sushi novice ie. i eat california rolls and teriyaki chicken, but I really like this place. Service is always fast and the food is very fresh...the rolls are not made until you order. The teriyaki chicken are fantastic.
Ambience is that of a fast food place or cafeteria. It is pleasant though.
Will continue going!
I'm a suburbanite and have my favourite sushi place in my city (Langley City), but as I'm downtown often enough I like to know there's a place I can get good sushi if that's my craving while I'm there. Urban Sushi is it. I hadn't found a really good, decently priced place before I came upon it. The sushi is fresh, great quality, nicely presented and delicious! It's pretty much a cafeteria ordering system and you get your own tea, but once your order is placed, they give you a number for your table and bring your food to you. It's presented on nice plates, is quite quick (they serve a big business clientelle here during the week) and they don't rush you out. It's a tight squeeze during a busy lunch, but well worth it. So glad I found this restaurant!
I was pleasantly surprised with the freshness of all food, and even though it is a very busy place at lunch time, the long line up still made it worth it.
Good selection of lunch boxes. The best thing is the really fresh taste.
