Two Parrots is a casual restaurant offering a variety of internationally inspired breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night options.
The breakfasts here are wonderful and the waitress is excellent. We came for the first time for dinner and it was pretty good. I had the Sea Food Trio.... excellent except for the fish, which was just odd tasting. The rest of the meal, including the salad was great. My buddy had the pulled pork sandwich which he really enjoyed. With 2 entrees, including salad and a nice glass of house red we paid less than $40. The service was good too. We had planned on going to DIX Bar-B-Q but after reading the bad reviews we opted for a place we knew. We will be back!
I haven't gone over the menu in any detail, and I'm usually already drunk by the time I go in, but from my experience it's pretty standard bar & grill fare. The wings, however, are sublime, and I often wind up ordering that and getting sidetracked from actually drinking.
I've also only gone on Saturday nights, and the music is insanely loud. No live band or anything, but trying to have a conversation with someone really is trying.
This place is always steady, busy. Must admit some of the customers are questionable. I'd keep an eye out for your purse, bag, etc.
I like the relaxed atmosphere, it's very easy to enjoy a pitcher and some wings. The wings are pretty damn tastey, too! tried various other dishes and they weren't bad but not good. Not the best place for intimate conversations, you must speak up in order to be heard because it's LOUD. but it's fun. Good for saturday night catching up with your friends :)
So it's been a while since we've been to the Two Parrots and this past Tuesday we headed back for some grub and beer before heading home to play some Lego Rockband!! It was a group of three of us. We ordered a pitcher of beer, their fantastic huge honey garlic wings, chicken strips, huge poutine, and Tuesdays special was $0.99 tacos which we ordered 4 of. Everything we ordered was absolutely fantastic! The chicken strips weren't greasy, the poutine tasted great. I don't have anything bad to say about this place. The waitress came by often and did a good job. The place still looks dingy inside, but don't let that fool you. Great value, great time had by all. This is by far my favorite pub place downtown. Thanks a million Two Parrots, see you again soon.
Two Parrots is great for after drinking greasy food: lots of stuff like zucchini strips, deep fried prawns...but for a regular dinner not so much. I've also been here for brunch and it was average. I ordered an omelette once that was good, but then I tried the eggs benedict and the sauce was almost fluorescent and tasted kind of weird and citrusy. I think I will stick to this place when I'm drunk.
Having burnt a few calories during the Sun Run, a few friends and I stopped by Two Parrots on a Sunday for some brunch. I'm not sure what the decor is supposed to be, maybe a Caribbean-themed place? Anyways, they have mostly tables and no booths so we put a few tables together by the window.
I ordered the Senorita vegetarian breakfast burrito which comes with hash browns. They use grated potato for hash browns here that are crispy and greasy with just enough seasoning. Mmmmm hmmm. The burrito was generous and came with copious amounts of salsa and sour cream. At $9.50 it was a steal.
Other dishes ordered included french toast (3 large slices of baguette dusted with powdered sugar), chicken strips and fries and a mushroom cheddar burger with a side salad. The burger was enormous and seemed to be hand packed. I'll have to come back and try it some day. Everyone was quite satisfied with their food and although the menu isn't incredibly innovative, the food is well prepared and comes in generous portions.
I noticed they have specials many days a week including a $9.99 burger and beer on Sundays which is a great deal. This is definitely a solid place to grab a bit without breaking the bank if you're downtown. Service was efficient but not in your face and they kept our jug of ice water full to rehydrate. Two parrot claws up!
