Tuc is a gathering place serving traditionally crafted food and drink.
Tuc has funky décor with nice touches, like fresh ranunculus arrangements in wood boxes. A long bar dominates the space and gives the sense that they’re serious about their drinks. Not quiet or romantic, but fun.
Love that they have nibblies (e.g. parsnip fries with coriander dip, gravalax) to take the edge off your hunger rather than fill you up. Wine, beer, and cocktails on offer were interesting and different – something for everyone.
Beef Daube was a rich mix of tender beef served in a cast iron dish on top of gooey Parmesan and mashed potatoes. Ling Cod flavours were subtle and interesting, and the fish was perfectly cooked (wish there were more seafood on their menu!). Dessert of a black tea sponge cake with ginger ice cream and absinthe apples wasn’t something I’d normally go for, but it was interesting, not too sweet – and totally delicious. Our server, Phil, was fun and super-helpful, and could answer any question in detail about the food prep (all the staff seemed very similar to him!).
Overall, had a great evening – Tuc deserves all the praise.
Went to this new restaurant on Saturday night and it was good. Food has lots of local ingridents. Drinks were excellent. Service was also very good. I know there are lots of choices to try when you are in Gastown but i would try this restaurant again. The decor is also nice and nice relaxing music playing in the background. The portions are not hugh so some people may find it a bit pricy. Parking is also difficult in the area.
Went with a group of family and friends on their opening week...and cannot say enough about the menu, and great vibe. Starters you must have are the Albondigas, and the Crispy Egg and Bacon. Entrees to die for were the Pork 2 Ways and the Faux Lamb Tagine...TUC salad was also amazing! Next time we're trying the Parsnip Smashed Potato Fries. Hats off to the friendly staff and the culinary team...what a great way to spend an evening in Gastown...we will be back!
This restaurant just opened and we managed to attend a special preview night of service before the official opening. We were extremely impressed by the down to earth and welcoming decor. It felt like going home, but done right.
We tried muscles & clams, and navy beans as a started. The flavours were tremendously balanced and the dishes were presented beautifully and without pretention.
For our means we ordered a Rib Eye and the Hanger Steak Bourguignon. When my husband asked for his steak medium rare, the server suggested he move up to medium and was able to explain the steak and why the doneness was important. His steak was delicious and perfectly cooked to her suggestion. The Hanger Steak Bourguignon was one of the best red meat dishes I have had in a restaurant to date. It felt comforting and sophisticated at the same time, and each bite was packed with flavour.
The cocktails (especially the Figgedaboutit - a fresh twist on a classic old fashioned) were delicious and well made, and the service was impeccable. Gastown is packed with choices, but I would highly recommend putting Tuc Craft Kitchen at the top of your list. What a wonderful experience - these guys know what they're doing!
