Trocadero is a casual family dining restaurant offering authentic Greek and Italian cuisine.
While hunting for a Greek cafe I read the reviews and decided to try this place. What a big mistake. Perhaps they had a better chef in the past but now it is terrible. The calamari was prepackaged, and the tzatziki sauce lacked imagination (maybe it was from a bottle), the fried mushrooms were good. Greek salad lacked zest and the choices of salad dressing for the regular salad was laughable. My leg of lamb was juicy but again lack the flavour of the mustard sauce, the roasted potatoes had no spices, the peas were old and hard - if you buy frozen peas to serve at least buy quality. The rice was okay. My friend's ribs and chicken dish was smothered in a sauce that came from a bottle - boring and lack of flavour. I hope their pizzas are good because serving this style of meal will bring about the end of this cafe.
PLEASE HIRE A CHEF and get rid of the can opener cook.
I have been eating at this place for about a year now. We have practically become family with THE FAMILY.
If you are in the broadway nanaimo area - def check it out. I'm glad we did back then.
any pizza, the homos dip and i like the chicken parm
My family has been going to this fine establishment for more then 20 yrs. We are the Leclair clan from Montreal... it was one of my uncle's favorite spot to unwind after a long day at work... "Phil" as he was known to everyone then... I recently took my mother there and she said "Why haven't you taken me here more often"
Good Question mom...
We'll be back more often : - )
I would first like to say I think this is a great spot, but it wont win any awards for food, service or ambiance. In other words it is what it is. I eat here about 6 times a year and am never disappointed.
Its not Pinos but it is good Canadian - Greek/Italian. and at prices most can afford! I usually have the Roast Lamb but the pizza is good too! They have great chicken beef and lamb souvlaki... I have yet to have the quail but looks like it would be good...
Would I recommend this place absolutely but like I said if your looking for fine dinning this is not the spot, but if your looking for flavorful food with friendly family service you wont be disappointed.
I had dinner here a couple weeks ago with my boyfriend and I thought this place was good overall.
The service needs a bit of work. Friendly staff, but hard to get their attention. Was waiting for water for 15minutes. I usually don't care, but that day I was really thirsty. There weren't that many tables either. The waiter mainly helped this huge party of 16 people and barely peeked over at the 2 of us.
The food was good for the price. I had the Moussaka and it pretty good. My boyfriend had the steak and it wasn't overdone, so that was nice as well.
I will give this place another change and come back again if I happen to be in the neighbourhood.
Service - Poor, rushed, not attentive. Need more help...
Lamb chops...So dry!!!
Drinks - Outrageous to charge $4 for a small glass of pineapple juice. And this was not freshly squeezed. This really upset me!
Pita - What was that?
