Toyama offers all you can eat Japanese food. 15% off for pick up.
This pretentious AYCE sushi joint does not deliver. Seems like they are going through the motions. Food is barely acceptable and they downsize or eliminate some of your orders on purpose. There are other better AYCE sushi places just not in downtown Vancouver. Better off in the food court if you are downtown.
Originally i was only passing by their restaurant.
I went in and ask if they do take out.
The server was polite and intrudce if i do take out you get 15%off. if deliver there is no disccount.
Anyways, my wife and I order delivery, just to try it out!
They will usually deliver within 30-40 mins.
The delivery person is really nice always smiling.
we like to order salmon sashimi from them is really fresh.
and the dragon roll is fantastic. they really dont care the potion.
its huge and with bunch of tobikos (god i love it)
and short ribs, compare to other korean restaurant they are a hell cheap
just 5 dollar!
too bad they only deliver to downtown area though.
Came there a lot. So far, it's the best buffet place within Downtown, they get a lot of japanese and korean customers!@O@
Food:
Great variety of sashimi choice's on dinner with relatively low price (21-ish including.. beef sashimi, tuna sashimi ika, and salmon sashimi are my fav, and also don't forget to order a lot of prawn tempura..
For the late-night they start 9 olock for12 dollar is worth it and have a great value of food you get Toro, tako, saba sushi selection (you get it no where for 12 value i can eat for like 15 per time). My favorite dish besides sushi is ika shioyaki and octupus garlic butter.
Service:
The waiter and waitress are friendly, they have korean japanese chinese onsite. The food is usually come fast, They would come every 10 to 15 minutes to fill up the water or tea
Ambiance:
Not fancy, its an open area restaurant perfect for friend and family.
Overall:
For my best sushi place (so far), i'll give them 4 rating... Better get reservation for the large party because once you got there especially during Lunch time its like pack of ppl in there
Return? of course... frequently i guess
First off I've been going to all you can eat restaurants for years, many, many times troubles have come: forgotten orders, lost orders, wrong orders misplaced orders but I got to say this was atrocious never have I had all 4 happen in one place.
First off this was a get together for a few of my friends and we were trying to make a good impression on a few friends of friends so i looked it up at Dinehere for the best all you can eat place and found this. I ordered there before with a friend it was OK but nothing special, from this i knew where the place was. I told my friends this is where we should go "4 stArs!?! OMG" everyone thought this was going to be good when I got there it was packed but not over full as i was the only one waiting lucky i came before the others did and got a table was sitted quickly right after a party had left. When everyone got there we had trouble trying to get a waiter just to look over i had to wave my hand up in the air and yell HEY just to get them over and when we did get someone over and put our order in that's when they started having fun. First they came gave us something we didn't order and left we looked around wondered who ordered it but let it slide they came again 10 minutes later with some food then 15 minutes later with more and 10 minutes again every time coming with only 1 or 2 small dishes. We were getting hungry and frustrated, also one of the the people with me would only order and eat one kind of sushi TORO we ordered this 3 TIMES over our stay but i'll get to that Later. We finally saw a lady coming with a big dish with what looked like toro the guy happy to see this coming was let down as she passed finally we got a big dish right after and were able to eat but 3 things were missing from what we ordered so we ordered again ONCE more things were missing, coming slowly and weren't what we ordered she left we looked around wondering who ordered this to find we didn't and this time though yelling to get someone over i told the lady we didn't ordered this and she just went "oh" looked at the table and then realized it was for the table next to us took it and gave it to them and left. what if we had touched it NOT sanitary!
Getting mad about the lost, missing and wrong orders i started to take them all down in total 11 things were missing from our 3 orders so i called someone who i hadn't talk to before over and asked to see the manager surprisingly he was a young man who looked like nothing but a server but whatever i told him 11 orders were missing we got the wrong order, how we had to yell just to get someone over and how we had a guy waiting for almost 2 hours for just ONE TRAY WE ORDERED 3 times. He apologized and said we'd get our order pushed up and get ice cream as compensation that was not at all enough, this time we waited 20 minutes for the toro and other things but it was more bitter then sweet from what i had to do just to get one order for a person i was hoping to impress was unbelievable and in the end we had to pay a 15% tip BY FORCE (was in the bill)and here i thought tips were based on how well you served and up to the decision of the customer but they obviously didn't get that anyway I got the hell out of there, this was a the WORST place I've gone to AVOID AT ALL COST
REPEAT AVOID AT ALL COST
This place, has got to be hands down, the best AYCE sushi place around.serioulsy, everything fresh, plentiful, and not huge rice rolls.
Variety is good, and if you pay five bucks more, you get a "deluxe" option.
not alot of street parking, but many parkades around.Only issue with that is the rates go up drastically on event nights. Its a bit tight inside, and reservations are recommended, but not necessary.
Food:
I come here for all you can eat dinner probably every week, so you can get about 150 kinds of choices. Speciality: Beef Tongue (chewwy), Agedashi Tofu (so soft inside not ike others), Udon (tender), Octopus with Garlic butter (spicy and good i think its one of my favourite.
Service:
I think my server is really nice not like other people said, she speak english fluently. I think the only people who speak lack of english is the busing person. There is few boys are quiet nice!
Value:
Price are 11.95 for lunch, 21.95 for dinner. If i choose to eat some where else it will probably cost me about 40 dollar a dinner cuz i really EAT A LOT.
so value for me is great and i dont get so much item choice in other AYCE place in Downtown.
Ambiance:
The environment is quiet friendly, i think its great to come with family and friend, and just enjoy their food.
Came for dinner on a weekday evening. There was a steady flow of people coming into the restaurant but it was never full. Everyone that worked in there was Chinese.
Food: Great selection of sushi to choose from. The size of the sashimi i was not too huge and overwhelming that it unappetizing. The size of sushi in proportion to the rice (nigri) was pretty good. The hand cones were good and the rolls were also decent sized. I swear we didn't order that many rolls but maybe they wanted us to fill up on it so that we wouldn't order any more. The quality of the sushi was just OK (didn't get sick the next day)
Service: They kept refilling our tea and water. Some of the servers spoke/understood minimal English
Ambiance: Tacky, cafeteria style. There was a sign on the wall for a beer special, and they actually just cut out the label on the cardboard box the beer came in and tacked it on the wall and wrote the price on it.
Price: $44 including tax.
My favorite food is japanese so you can trust my judgement on this sushi joint. I go once a week for AYCE sometimes twice. My girlfriends and I love it! So a co-worker showed me this little place for lunch once.
It's a great price around $12 bucks! Fast and tasty. They do give small portions but you can order more! It is worth the extra dollar to get 6 pieces of sashimi. Most lunch places give you a limit and it's terrible sashimi. It's fresh and delicious.
Oyster motoyaki's are on my top 3 list. Rolls are good but sometimes fall apart easily but there is quite a large selection of rolls, i don't eat a lot of the rolls so you'd have to ask someone else. Sunomono salad ACTUALLY HAS EBI in it! Great! Miso soup is a little watered down, no biggie i don't go to drink pounds of miso. I hit up this place at least 2 a week at work. Gyoza's are delicious. Teryaki is great! Spring rolls small but tasty! Tempura is delicious! Just veggie no prawn boo. Something about their soy sauce it's great.
It's a great place to eat and it's clean and nicely put together! Staff is very friendly as well.
I am so happy to have discovered this little bargain, an all you can eat place in the middle of downtown, right by Robson.
For less than $30 my husband and I had a feast of sushi, which was delivered to out table promptly and efficiently. This is the type of all you can eat where you are seated, a check off menu is brought to you and you choose what you want and it is brought right to you. the menu had plenty of items, there was no skimping on the fish, true there was no sashimi, unless you paid a little extra, but the nigiri had generous pieces, and the cones had big chunks of fish as well.
It's a decent atmosphere, and was quite popular for a Sunday. We arrived early and had no wait at all, and people were still being seated right away when we left after an hour. I have no hesitations recommending this restaurant for a bargain, above average sushi place!
Went to this place last week for the first time and loved the food. You don't get sashimi in the $11.95 all you can eat price but it's definitely worth it. Sashimi is an extra $1 for every 6 pieces.
The chopped scallop rolls were awesome as they had big chunks of scallop in it and the rice wasn't overbearing.
Not a fan of their skewers because they tasted a bit water logged - but overall, their other BBQ stuff was decent.
Service was ok as we didn't have to wait long for stuff.
I would definitely go there again and consider this place better than Shabusen (unless you want alot of sashimi)
Find out about this restaurant last mid of month when i was shopping with my wife, thought we would give it a try!
We were in for 2 dinner all you can eat, and they were featuring 2 Corona for 6 dollar or Buy 1 and get 2nd one for Half Price.
So my wife and i ordered an Peller Estates Chardonnay for each, and it only cost me around 8 dollar include tax. Such a Great Deal, we love it!
We ordered some sashimi, deep fried, sushi, roll, tempura, appetizer.
our appetizer cames like within 5 mins, and also the drinks.
Then fresh oyster cames after 5 more mins, and because we have already finished our appteizer the waittress clear our plate after she put our food on the table.
and Whenver our tea was empty, they will soon fill up.
we have ordered some Sharkfin sushi, abolone sushi, lobster sushi, chopscallop cone and korean BBQ pork from their new items also. I must say i like their sharkin fin sushi very much, it is sweety and tender ( i mean the fins). and the Lobster sushi and chop scallop cone is really good too, they uses the best mayonnaise.
I must say i love this restaurant, and for the price of 20.95
I think its incredidable for such wide selection of sashimi and a lot more items.
I ordered a wide assortment of food. I was disappointed however in the deep fried dishes, which were very overcooked and tasted like little else than oil and batter. The Salmon and Tuna Nigiri I had however was fresh and tasty. The rolls on the other hand were sliced as thin as cheese. The chopped scallop roll was tasty though.
The place looks really nice, and the service was decent.
Make sure you get the mango pudding for dessert! They put real chunks of mago in at this place!
I went there with my gf last Monday. The ambian is nice, service is good (maybe because we sat right beside the cash register). The food, however, is typical chinese style jap food. For $11.95 I think it is a fair deal, however, the sushi rice we had was really bad (too hard, tasted like leftover rice). All in all, not as good as I've expected but not bad for the price in this area.
Came here with a bunch of friends after volleyball and pigged out. We were going to pay the full price, but the host cued us in to wait a bit and order from the late night menu, which is $11 or so versus @20.95!!!! SWEET!!!!!!!
Great menu, fresh fish, beautiful atmosphere, and it wasn't busy on a Thursday night since they just recently opened up. Absolutely perfect.
Only gripe is that they forgot a few ordered items, but we were too full and happy to care. Better quality than most. Give it a try!
P.S. The udon is yummy. Love the noodles.
We really like this place and are considered regulars. Food is always fresh and very tasty. This is the best place for the price you can find in Downtown, too bad they don't have all you can eat sashimi during lunch time, But Our suggestion is to go for a lunch all you can eat menu option. We always go for a lot of salmon sushi since this is the best place to get it. And of course the Oyster Motoyaki are "the must try" and the New stuff "BBQ Korean Pork" spicy and tasty!!
They also add a few new items for the summer, EX. Zaru soba.
The staff are very friendly and the service is very fast.
Although it only opens for 2 months, they do improve a lot already~for the waittress, but there are more room to work on it.
Dinner here was a nice experience, the restaurant was not terrible busy as there were only about 10 other tables dining. The decor has a darkish wood feel , accented with lighter pine and Asian touches throughout the room. Three young men were making the sushi, and there were four waitresses ( they were pleasant and took care of our wants expeditiously )and one male waiter with a manager and female bartende. So lots of attention was paid to service: being polite, smiles, having the food come out at intervals and not all at once, refills of water/tea, and not a typical AYCE-slam-the-food-on-the-table-and-run-to-the-next-order-table-service.
The food was average at best, while there is a great deal to choose from nothing really made you think that it was memorable or outstanding. Good, not great.
Adults were $20.95 and kids4-9 were $12.95.
If you were downtown and going to have lunch here I'd say it'd be advisable ( interesting to see how busy it gets ). Dinner? Maybe and maybe not, it'd depend on how hungry you were and how much food you really want to eat.
I work in the area and we go to lunch here about once a week. The servers know all of us and take very good care of us. We also use them for our work functions.
The food is plentiful, the price is solid, because they do provide really delicious food especially for their Robata item, the beef ribs is so GOOD, and the oyster motoyaki is always Hot from the oven, compare to Shabusen or Robson Sushi their food is really TASTY for AYCE.
The service is quick and efficient which is what you want when you're in and out for lunch.
They are also very quick with all the take-out if you preorder. Try and get there before 1pm as the local business break for lunch at that time and this places get HIT! and i serious mean it~
and they uses japanese traidtional tray to serve sushis even when you order AYCE. That is not every place have, most AYCE place i go they just put on a plastic tray which it's kinda cheap...
For the Sashimi, you will see they do put a lot of effort for it, every AYCE Dish came out quiet nicely, and being decorated just as regular menu.
I really LOVE IT.
Overall, a decent place and I'd go back.
1 2 stars for food rating. When a sushi came out, there were too much rice on nigiris and rolls. On top of that, the rice was hot!
2 Service was absoultely horrible... .It was "all you can eat" I did order quite alot at the beginning and NOT EVEN half of what I ordered came out. and the managers were terrible. . what about the managers?
well... here's the story about today. Paying at the counter.. I was charged with $12.55 and handed over $22.10 and one of the manager was "you are short 50cents" and I was like what? so I handed over 50cents. Then I got change back of 5cents. What about my 10bucks? All I wanted to do was get rid of coins in my wallet. So I asked them to check camera. They refused to do so and kept arguing. In the end, one of the manager was literrally "throwing money($10)" at customor(me) and were like "Get out". Nice managers huh? won't last long if that continues.
3 Value. Recently the price was hiked by $1. For lunch nearly 13bucks is too much... isnt it?
4 The Interior looked all nice and new as well as tables and especially chairs. comfortable chairs.
Good side : Good interiors, Clean, All you can eat
Bad side : Manager's ability to handle problems, You don't always get what you wanted..(Ex. If the servers think number is too big, they just put in smaller number into order computer), Long Lines, a bit expensive price
I was walking along Seymour, noticed this AYCE Sushi, decided to give it try. Reading the reviews after my meal, wasn't anything I experience in service.
This place has been open for over a month, its a large space, busy for the lunch time crowd and found the servers disorganized from the moment I walked in. I was seated at the sushi bar with some others customers, and saw what people had ordered, to give me some idea.
I decided to order, Salmon & Tuna Nigiri, Avacado roll, Chicken Teriyaki, Tuna & salmon roll.
My Tuna Nigiri arrived, as I tried to get ginger & wasabi with my first dish, and gave me a generous portion. I waited to get my next dish, as I watch the 4 sushi chefs, receive orders, but the wait staff was not getting the orders correct. I saw this about a dozen times. I also didn't like how the sushi bar was set up, there was opening to my right, thinking this is where the staff will pick up orders, but this occurred from both sides. This became annoying when two of the wait staff, bang into me & the other customers a few times with no apology.
My cucumber roll arrived, but somewhere in the speed of the staff, they took my ginger & wasabi away. I asked the sushi chef, if I could get some more and it was very tasty the cucumber roll, which fell apart easily. I got my rice, waited for my chicken teriyaki, and when it did arrive, the portion was small with great flavour. I'm still wondering if my Salmon Nigiri, salmon & tuna roll would arrived. At this point, my servers where anyone who would come to the sushi counter, asking, and my tuna & salmon rolls arrived together. I did find the roll fell apart easily, and it wasn't that great tasting.
I asked for the bill, thinking my last order will arrive, it never did, and gave up asking. My bill was incorrect, the ACYE sushi price $10.98, plus price of coca cola, as they charged me with Salmon Nigiri, when its part of the price. The waiter reverse it, my Salmon Nigiri did come, ate one of the pieces, but I had to leave. I went to the till, thinking this would be faster, but the staff were slow, one gal bumped into me, didn't apologize and that's when I paid, left no tip and told them I doubt I will be back.
I doubt the service will improve in being organized, and the lack of friendliness, drove me nuts. I think the food is good, when it get's there, but with so many other choices out there, once is enough.
We went there last night, and we were very impressed! Like the other reviewers said, the food isnt the greatest sushi you'll ever have, but it is VERY good for AYCE. There is lots to choose from unlike some other AYCE places especially the sashimi and nigiri. Decor is nice and clean as it is brand new, and the service was terrific as well. I will definitely go back!
