This second location of Tokyo John offers most Japanese staples as well as some Izakaya and Korean dishes.
Tokyo John has a new location on Smythe expanding from its original restaurant on Cambie Street. The new location replaces Kimono, another sushi restaurant. The place is very spacious, especially compared to Cambie and is almost a little stark and cold inside.
The menu is what you'd expect at a typical Japanese place with some Izakaya and Korean dishes as well. We ordered a bunch of different plates including prawn tempura, gyoza, spicy tuna cone, dynamite roll, negitoro roll and a few other things. We were stuffed and the bill was about $60 including a couple drinks, about what you'd expect.
Overall the experience was decent although I would really only come here if I was going to a movie and felt like sushi as its right next door to Scotiabank theatre.
