Great Lunch Deals

Decided to try this place for lunch, and it was such an excellent decision! Timkee Kitchen is a restaurant with yummy Chinese food. Today, I went with a group of 8 colleagues of mine and all of us were very surprised. The food was really good with big portions. For $6.25, you can get Ginger Beef, Beef Broccoli, Chicken With Cashew Nuts and a whole lot of other food selections on the menu with rice on the side and a spring roll. The service was good. The waitresses kept on returning to our table, filling our cups of water and tea. Though this place was a bit small, the food made up for it. Bonus point: No MSG!

Will definitely return soon.

Great Delivery

Just wanted to write to say I had an amazing dinner at Timkee Kitchen. Delivery was very quick, in fact, it was faster than they said it would be. A lot of food for a great deal. I will definitely add them to my regular delivery list. Also found out they now offer ordering through Just-Eat, which I used to use in Toronto. Makes my order procedure that much easier, and I know it's quality if it's on Just-Eat. THANKS TIMKEE KITCHEN!

My Favourite Restaurant

I have ordered many times from this restaurant from delivery. Today, my parents came from Calgary so I decided to take them to this restaurant for the first time. First, we ordered wonton with spicy chilli gralic sour sauce. The wontons were very big, juicy, and good. Next we ordered dai-ching prawns and szwchuan beef. Both dishes were very tasty and had a good amount of spice in it, very spicy. We also ordered a dish of vegetables which had a variety of vegetables. The food was well portioned and very tasty. The service is great. Even though it is a small restaurant, but it is well worth it for the quality of food. I love this restaurant and am never disappointed.

One of the Best Chinese Restaurants in Kits
By kittykat20100 of kits vancouver (1 Review)

Today, I've a good experience to order Chinese food. I just wanted to share my feeling for all my friends. Chinese food is very popular in Vancouver, I personally order delivery three times a week. Timkee was a surprise to me. I had sweet and sour pork, sweet and sour chicken ball, chicken chow mein and a small steamed rice. I think they did a great job. The food was very tasty. All dishes were big size and fewer oil. Especially, the sweet and sour chicken ball was fresh and when I bit into it, I could feel the juice coming out of it. Most Chinese restaurants that I have tried have a lot of dough in their deep fried items with tiny amounts of food. Plus the rice, was great. Again, when I usually order steamed rice from other restaurants, it is all yellow and crusty. You can clearly see that the rice isn't freshly cooked. But rice from this restaurant? It uses some beautiful jasmine rice and the colour is white, NOT a crusty yellow!!!

If you are too lazy to cook dinner tonight, I think this is the restaurant that you should try. :)

Seriously the WORST food EVER!!!
By Carryout of Vancouver (1 Review)
Submitted Wednesday, December 8, 2010 - 7:33pm [Take-out]

We got sold by a flyer delivered to our house. Without checking for reviews we decided to check it out... a HUGE mistake on our part. It is seriously the worst Chinese food I've ever tasted. The shrimp and asparagus was underwhelming and the cod fillet was non-existent - there was more batter than fish in the dish. Don't bother with this restaurant. Terrible, terrible food.

Garbage

Lived in Kits for a few years. Finally decided to break away from our standard chinese place and try this place.

What a dissapointed. Ordered take out and as soon as we opened the bag it smelled funky.

Tried the hot and sour soup and we had though the odd putrid smell was from the garbage outside. Little beyhold it was the soup.

Rest of the dinner had no taste and aweful. Never would give it a second chance, which I'm will with some restaurants, but never had one so bad.

Stay away....

It’s just no Connie’s…
By toaster of Vancouver (3 Reviews)
Submitted Tuesday, July 13, 2010 - 4:47pm [Dine in]

So Connie’s cookhouse was closed for holidays, so I got some takeout from here. Food lacked flavor, and it was in smaller portions too. Ingredients did not seem fresh at all, nuts were soft for example, and vegetables were pale looking and not very crisp. The chicken was a bit rubbery. The beef was good however.

Good Take-out!

My boyfriend and I decided to order take out as it was around 11pm and we were too lazy to cook. This place was a real life saver. The food was delicious- and at $37 for 5 entrees it was a real bargain. We ordered the House Special Chow Mein, BBQ pork, Chicken and Pineapple Fried Rice, and Chicken Balls, and free Wonton Soup. As we did not dine in, we could not comment on the ambiance, but the server on the phone was very nice, and allowed us to make the order even though they were closing in 20 minutes. (Not to mention, they had it delivered to us in less than 30 min)

The portions were large, and well worth the money. And with no MSG, the quality of their food stood out even more.

Good take Cantonese take out

I order take out or delivery from here quite often, the food is good and good service too. I haven't actually sat in the place and ate there, they only have like two tables and its really gross looking, so delivery is definately the best option. Going to the restaurant to pick up my food kind of made me worry about the cleanliness. I'd rather try and find a cleaner looking place to order from, from now on.

Poor Quality Food
By pj189 of vancouver (1 Review)
Submitted Saturday, July 4, 2009 - 6:32pm [Dine in]

Greasy chow mein, over cooked chicken balls, and the worst deep fried prawns I have ever had. There is a dry, tiny rubbery prawn inside of a huge amount of doughy breading. Found undercooked beef in our beef and green beans in black bean sauce. I would not order from here again. The food was cheap but going to throw most of it away instead of having left overs for tomorrow. I would not recommend others to try this place.

Tasty No-MSG Takeout Chinese Food
By whemedia of Kitsilano, Vancouver (3 Reviews)
Submitted Saturday, June 21, 2008 - 11:26pm [Dine in]

My partner and I have been ordering from this restaurant from some time now and have been quite pleased with the selection. Personally this is like a form of "Chinese Food Nirvana" as they rely on the spices and ingredients rather than Mono Sodium Glutamate (a neurotoxin used in most Asian food).

The other good thing about this place is that if you ask them to make adjustments they actually do it. Let's hope that they maintain their consistency for some time to come. Our favorites are the House Special Chow Mein and the Rock Salt Cod or Squid.

Just so you know, this place is really suited for take-out, though there is seating in the restaurant to give you the home-style atmosphere.

Horrible food
By cosine of Kits (4 Reviews)
Submitted Sunday, December 21, 2008 - 7:25pm [Dine in]

After 5 years in Vancouver I am still looking for a place that can make decent classic trashy Canadian-Chinese dishes, still no luck. Just ordered delivery from Timkee Kitchen, wishing I hadn't. The owners should not be in the restaurant industry.

Chicken Fried Rice: Inedible, a gummy brick of gross rice, smelled foul.

Deep Fried Jumbo Prawns: 3 inch long snakes of dough underfried in smelly old oil with tiny 1/2 inch pieces of prawn inside.

House Special Chow Mein: Inedible, a stinky mess of beef, chicken, prawns, brocolli and noodles, I couldn't even make myself taste this one.

Sweet and Sour Chicken Balls: Same funky old oil as the prawns.

Ginger Beef: This was edible, really the only dish that didn't taste gross, stringy and chewy yes, but edible.
