The Swimming Rama and Pad Thai are really tasty and the combos are affordable (less than $12) and have huge portions. I usually have leftovers which are still delicious the next day. I know find it absurd that other Thai restaurants charge sometimes more than $12 for an curry that doesn't include rice, not to mention a spring roll, salad and soup.
My only criticism is that last time I had the combo, the soup smelled really fishy. This may or may not be normal but it didn't appeal to me so I tossed it. Everything else was great!
Thai Away Home is a great place to go for takeaway (or delivery if you live within their deilvery radius). The food is solid, however, don't expect large portions. The curries come in rather small containers, but are very tasty (especially the red curry with pumpkin and beef/chicken). There are better Thai restaurants in Vancouver, but for a quick meal, this place is a good choice.
I have been ordering from here for years and I have never been dissapointed!
I always order chicken and potato yellow curry, sauteed broccoli, and brown rice. Absolutely delicious every time! Their portions are big with tons of meat and veggies and their curry sauce is to die for!
I highly recommend trying this place out of you're looking for some no-fuss yummy take-out.
I decided to try this place after I heard good reviews about it. I was a bit disappointed. I usually compare thai places based on their pad thai, and frankly, I really wasn't impressed with it here. I found it to be a bit oily, sloppy looking (inconsistency with the texture of the noodles) some were saturated with sauce, some chunks of noodles was still stuck together with no sauce. I found the sauce to be too reminiscent of ketchup with too much tamarind paste, which overpowered the dish. Also ordered a green curry chicken. Completely disappointed with this one. The curry tasted somewhat candy like, like a mixture of Glico curry mixed with watery tasteless coconut milk. Chicken was a bit dry. In my opinion, the best Thai place is Montri's Thai. The Pad Thai there is the best I've ever tried, flavours are amazing and the quality of all the dishes is superb.
I think this is the best of all the Thai Away Home locations. Great food, cheap prices, clean, cheerful, wonderful friendly staff! I highly recommend the Tom Kha Gai soup (delicious - kaffir lime, galungal, coconut milk, mushrooms, chicken and cilantro...Mmmmmmmmm!). I also really like the satay sticks, red curry, yam curry, beef salad is pretty good (Sawasdee on Main is better though), and the "Crunchy munchy salad" is awesome (actually ALL of the salads are pretty amazing). Go there, you'll be happy you did. Take-out is what I recommend.
