A busy chinese restaurant on Broadway
They have a lunch special for 5.99 that includes a springroll, choice of hot & sour or chicken and corn soup, and choice of several entrees served with rice; no MSG added according to the lunch special menu.
The food quality was good. The service was prompt, even though there was only one server and the dining room had atleast a dozen tables occupied.
I heard the chef here used to cook in Beijing for the superior communist dictotors. Maybe not too well, and he is now a refugee in Canada fleeing punishment for undercooking duck.
The tan tan noodles here is absolutely the best in town. No MSG, and so robustly tastey and spicey with a hinted nutty aroma, you'd snort this shit just to get as much out of it as you can.
Other recomended dishes: Lion's head meatballs, and long roasted pork hock (order 2 hours ahead of time) that used to be a famous poet's favourite dish. The drunk chicken was a disappointment though, so beware.
Oh, don't mind the streak of blood on the waitresses arm. She's a multitasker, and was probably chopping up a live chicken in the back before serving your food.
