Sweet Revenge serves dessert, dessert, dessert...and chocolate!
I frequent this sweet store. They use real vanilla bean not the extract.
Their specialty "Sweet Revenge" is highly recommended. Chocolate pudding is to die for,... not too sweet, but rich and creamy. Try their organic Raiboos tea from africa. It'll sooth you. Together with the traditional music, old english style decor and good dessert, you'll feel like Queen Elizabeth!
I went to the sweet revenge with a good friend of mine for late night dessert fix. We got there around 9 pm and the place was packed. It was a really small place with red walls and also a bit dark. Although the place was cozy it was also a bit cramp. I ordered the tea served with liquor and the chocolate cake. The cake tasted very light and delicious. My friend ordered chi tea and some creamy dessert that I don't remember the name. It could be a kind of cream brule. I tried some of hers and really liked it too. It is not a place for people to sit down sip on tea/coffee and talk for hours. There is a time limit since it is very popular.
wonderful victorian decor with antique items and furnitures - a sweet little place!
I had the chocolate pudding cake - it was very sweet with straight-forward, very very strong, intense chocolatiness - probably perfect for any true choco-holics. I loved it in the beginning but due to the generous portion size (for $5.95), got tired of it nearing the end. would be nice for sharing by two. delicious ceylon tea.
This is a little hole in the wall on Main Street. I like the decor of this restaurant; it's quite Victorian but much, much too cramped. A maximum of 15 people can fit in this place! Therefore, it was also unbelievably warm in the restaurant. I wouldn't go here again just because there are always people waiting outside to be seated.
The food is not bad but it definitely isn't anything spectacular either. Maybe I'm a food snob, but for the range of prices, I expected something more. It's not that they were too sweet or too bland; they just tasted generic. I found a lot of the dishes (brownies, cakes, tortes) were too dry. The cheesecake was less than memorable. It's not that the food was bad; it was just mediocre. The teas were also ridiculously overpriced for the portion. You could get 2 small teacups out of one small teapot at $4. I enjoyed the teas though; they were unique in flavour. I could taste a lot of the undertone flavours. There just wasn't enough tea for an enthusiast like me.
I don't have a lot to say about the service. I have only gone with my boyfriend so I haven't experienced the bad service that the larger parties may have experienced. The waiter was prompt and kind.
I enjoyed the ambiance of the store but alas, if only it were larger and more ventilated. It felt like an oven in there~
I don't think I will be going again. There just has to be better dessert restaurants in Vancouver.
I think this place has a very cute decor and a unique look.
The first time my friend and I tried this place many years ago we both enjoyed the experience, the service was great but it was on the pricey side.
On my recent visit i ordered the cheesecake take out and for 7 dollars i found it was to expensive, very small portion and took a longtime to prepare. The waiter did not even offer a bag, fork or napkin for take out.The service was so so i didnt really like the waiter was not welcoming. I saw him more attentive to him collecting his tip money on the side than putting in our order.
I dont think i would ever go back.
the desserts here are soooooo delish. we tried the sampler which included white chocolate cheesecake, a chocolate mousse, chocolate ganache cake, and ice cream. each cake was to die for and it seemed like each cake got better and better. a nice place to go on a date, but as other reviewers say, it could be busy on a saturday nite as the room is quite small. another downside is the $6 min charge per person, and the high price of the drinks.
A great dessert place with awesome desserts and lots of unique flavours of tea. I tried the "Smooth Operator" dessert which was a multilayer chocolate cake infused with Grand Marnier, fresh raspberries, raspberry coulis, and white chocolate shavings. The place is quite small and cozy and it was busy even on a weekday evening.
the chocolate pudding cake is definitly to die for!!! I've tried most of the other desserts but none compare to this one! I like the atmosphere, it's quiet, unique, and I find it cozy. The teas are quite nice and the server gives good recommendations for pairing with desserts.
The ambiance is neat and cozy, but would the desserts live up to the hype? I ordered creme brulee and hot chocolate...the creme brulee (raspberry flavour) tasted like ordinary, cold custard. The hot chocolate didn't really have much flavour. My boyfriend ordered the tiramisu, which was average. Disappointed, given the hype.
This restaurant has awesome desserts, they use really good ingredients, and they're open late. Also they do takeout and you can get custom premade order cakes. Inside they light candles and you can have tea in a cozy little corner. Nice oldschool antique type decor. Only thing is its' kinda small, the tables are close together and they give medium to small size portions. But that's no matter cause the desserts are rich enough that you only need a little bit.
