Ok, let's start by saying for superbowl sunday at 1pm in downtown Vancouver I should have seen the writing on the wall. Nobody in the restaurant at all.
For nobody in there it took one hell of a long time to get burgers to the table for the 4 of us. We all ordered the portellini burgers but they were out of mushrooms so that sucked. Guess they couldn't goto the local grocery store to pick some up.
We started with the hotdog and onion rings. The 12" hotdog was the worst I've ever had for $7. Picture a shrivelled up wiener on a dry, crispy bun with some Dijon mustard and some garlic chips which I never noticed. Sooo bad..
The burgers with the pancetta was the worst burgers to date. 2 burgers were overdone to a point where she couldn't eat it and the other 2 were pink in the middle. I piece of lettuce, tomato and pancetta doesn't make a burger. Totally dry..
When we got home both of us were sick to the point where we could not eat anything and it's been 20 hrs since we've been able to eat anything. There's nothing good about this place. No salt and pepper on the table, plastic cheap seats and I'm not sure what people see in this place. Just plained sucked!
I had lunch here today - I tried it out after reading an old article in Vancouver Magazine. The burger was pretty good - not a huge fan of chipotle though. The burger was better than the fries - which seemed to me to be from frozen..... Loved the portobello mushroom on the burger - nice touch. Overall - the whole meal left me a bit over-salted (no doubt the pancetta contributed). Anyway - I'd go back just to try the "Kobe" burger which 2 gentlemen at a neighbouring table seemed to be thoroughly enjoying. The waitress brought a bottle of water so I could continue to refill my water glass - I wish more places did that!
