Splitz Grill is a gourmet burger joint. They prepare everything fresh daily, and you get to select your toppings from a wide variety of excellent homemade sauces and fresh veggies. These guys take burgers seriously!!
Wow! What an overwhelmingly unpleasant experience. Splitz was really noisy and chaotic inside, and right off the bat we were confused by their ordering system. Now I say that if you are going to have a really confusing setup for ordering, it would probably also be a good thing to be patient with your customers when they are trying to figure things out; unfortunately the counter staff were impatient and rude.
We ordered the teriyaki burger, the lentil burger, the "Splitz fries" aka poutine, and a strawberry milkshake. To start with, our food was NOT hot enough, and it was not GOOD enough to be worth the trouble. The salmon burger had no taste and the teriyaki flavour was non-existant. My lentil burger had potential but was rendered inedible by dijon mustard that had a strong and really bad, sour taste. The poutine would be alright but it was not hot enough, and the strawberry milkshake was good. But how do you mess those things up anyway, right?
I do want to give Splitz recognition for having a veggie burger that is not merely a Garden burger or Yves soy patty. Their lentil burger had flavour and looked as if it was made in house. Unfortunately that isn't enough to bring us back for a second try.
