Smoke's Poutinery is a newish poutine chain started in Ontario and spreading everywhere with two more locations set to open soon in Vancouver. They have every kind of poutine you can imagine with beef, pork (bacon!), chicken and lots of different varieties including those meats. If you're a nostalgic person, they serve Pop Shoppe sodas as well.
I ordered the classic poutine: fries, cheese curd and gravy. Overall I thought it was pretty good but it had one major flaw: not nearly enough curds. There were a few sprinkled on top and then nothing. To me this is a critical component of a good poutine so I have to give this one a miss. Maybe it was just a one off, but...
I might give them another chance if I happen to be strolling by but there is a lot of competition out there.
Smoke's Poutinerie is a new-ish poutine joint in town, with two locations in downtown Vancouver - the first on Granville, and the not-quite-ready-to-be-open one on Robson. Being poutine fanatics, we obviously couldn't pass this place up.
Triple Pork Poutine - $7.99 (100/7)
ABSOLUTE heaven. This triple threat consists of chipotle pulled pork, double-smoked bacon, and italian sausage. Picture doesn't do this any justice at all. There was the PERFECT fries-gravy-cheese-pork-bacon ratio. And as seen the picture, only a few dollops of sausage. But that doesn't matter because seriously, this is THE BEST POUTINE EVER. We didn't want it to end. Seriously party in your mouth. Definitely "wow-size" it for an additional $3 because you will regret not having more. We inhaled this after two minutes. No mercy, no shame. There was a sweet tang to this which definitely enhanced this new drug that is poutine.
Popped in for a quick poutine, not enough cheese and right away it seems the potatoes had a lot of starch, the gravy really never packed enough of a punch
