Formerly called The Crime Lab, Six Degrees Lounge is a contemporary restaurant that offers Pacific Northwest cuisine. It is in a new location at Denman street, located at Coal Harbour right at the entrance to Stanley Park.
Came here for a birthday dinner on a Saturday night and the place was very empty. Only our table of 6 and one other table. It's located on a tucked away corner of coal harbour. So much potential to be a great restaurant, but unfortunately the food did not deliver. Bleh tastes of regular steak and seafood and nothing memorable. Such a shame to waste such a good location for this place. I imagine if they added some more flair to the service, food, and ambiance they could be let out for better behavior. =)
Went to Crime Lab for a staff party. I work about a block away from this place so it's convenient. The place is kind of small, right next to the water at Stanley Park. The staff were friendly but they seemed a bit understaffed when we were there.
We had about 15 people go and told them in advance.. but they didn't have enough tables for us. We ended up having to all squish into a couple of those tiny high top tables. I didn't drink, but my coworkers did. They were pretty efficient with supplying alcohol. We ordered random platters of food, from what I heard the crab cakes were decent. Everything else was just kind of bleh. A lot of mussels leftover really. The flat breads with the dip were okay. Don't suggest going there for food at all. It's nicely presented, but it's not that great and not really worth your money. Especially don't go if you're a vegetarian. I think there's about three items on the menu for you to try.. one was an appetizer, and the other two was a veggie platter sort of thing with everything ($22) and there's a veggie burger. That's it.
Other than going there for a quick drink and a stroll around the park, I wouldn't recommend this place for food. Honestly, if you want a good dinner around that area, take just a bit of extra time to go down either along Denman or Granville Island. Won't be disappointed.
Just had dinner with a group of 15. It took them about an hour before the appetizers came out and another 30 min for the entrees. so most of us were waiting for about 1.5 hrs for our food. Only thing the waitress said to us was that our order is too big and they're going to serve the smaller tables first. So we saw 3 smaller tables come in after us and left before us. Food finally come out, the burgers were all over cooked and hard as rubber. The fish & chips were way over cooked as well. Food was mediocore, service was mediocore. We placed a complaint to the manager and her reponse was, "it's our fault for coming 45min late (most of us were on time for the reso and an order was placed within 15min) to the reso". Was not apologitic at all. They comped us chocolate fondue. Yum, 2 small fondue plate for a table of 15, which we also sat around waiting for about another 20 min. This was my first and will definately be my last time coming here. There were half of us that were regulars for drinks at this place. Apparently they do not appreciate customer's paying for their meal and on top of that a 17% service fee. Oh yes, our friend got up and served us the water to our tables since there were no waitress around. What more can I say, how have a business like this lasted this long.....
Okay ex-co-worker actually but same concept and defin itely recommended. Upon my arrival, I noticed the restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere. A pretty waitress escorted me to the top floor, near the bar. People were leaning against the window.
We ordered fish, soup and lots of wine. The food we thought was delicious. The drinks were not weak and did the job. It's pricey but you don't go here to be cheap and you have a goal you are playing to. This wasn't a wife dinner it was a date.
The food therefore was fairly priced and delicious. The waitress was friendly and she kept our glass full. One of the managers even stopped by my table to introduce himself and ask how everything was. I couldn’t find one thing to complain about. The night was a success. by the way parking is right across the road.
The food was poor quality and was not cooked properly. It did not taste like the food was made to order.
Food was overpriced for the quality of food.
We ordered a couple of martinis. They tasted watered down.
Staff was a bit on edge. Poorly trained and managed.
The location is great. The space is nice.
There are far better places to eat in Coal Harbour. I don't see this place lasting unless they significantly improve. The need a new chef and new bar/restaurant management.
I had planned a birthday party a different location but when the reservations fell through I decided to send all of us to Crime Lab - I was pleasantly surprised! Our server was wonderful and very accommodating when we had extra people show up, the view and atmosphere was nicer then the average restaurant and the food and drinks surprised me. The cocktail list is huge and creative - we all had different drinks and all raved that we made the best choice. We also ordered their veggie and seafood platters to share and were amazed at how tasty the samplers were. We treated ourselves to the chocolate fondue and it was as expected, warm chocolate with a nice arrangement of fruit and cakes for dipping. Nothing to complain about at all!
When a group of four of us ate at The Crime Lab recently, it was a horrific experience. A couple of us ordered steaks, both overdone. One of us ordered the prime rib burger which came out with an inedible bun-it was so stale that it was impossible to bite through it. Another one of us ordered a caesar salad with chicken and the chicken was clearly rotten. You could smell it from half a foot away. It was too bad that one of us had already eaten bites of it. All in all-from a chefs point of view-it is a great building but I would highly recommend avoiding this overpriced restaurant, with extremely low food quality.
I went here for dinner recently and loved the location and the ambiance - it's a neat little place. The food however was pretty mediocre. I ordered the $20 fish and chips. They used halibut, which was good, but there was no batter at all on the fish. It was just limp, deep-fried halibut pieces. I would expect a better product for $20, they definitely need to reformulate that dish. I would recommend coming here for drinks and not for dinner.
My friend and i tried this restaurant. The ambience is great and the decor is beautiful. Food is pretty good. I recommend the Lobster bisque and the lamp popsicle as starters. Otherwise, the main dishes are allright, nothing that fantastic. The price points is reasonable as well, somewhere between $15 - $25. If you are not there for the food though, Crime Lab is a great location for drinks because after drinks with your date, you can have a very nice stroll to Stanley Park.
