A new small frozen yogurt shop on the corner of 4th and Arbutus. Offers refreshing and healthy frozen yogurt with up to 20 toppings ranging from fruit loops and oreos to fresh mango, strawberries and blueberries!
Food: I always get their original frozen yogurt - I'm sure the other flavours are good too, but I love how tart the original tastes, it's not too sweet. The toppings however, did not look so fresh and I stayed away from those.
Service: The cashier was very friendly. I was curious about their limited edition 'chai tea' flavour of frozen yogurt, and she gave me a generous sample. The service was very courteous and I really glad about that (I had been subjected to terrible service at Rocky Mountain Flatbread Co. earlier that evening). No pretentiousness here!
Value: The value is good, for what it's worth. It's comparable to other frozen yogurt places. Two small original frozen yogurts came to under $8 after tax.
Ambiance: Unlike the reviewer below, I think the ambiance is great. This is exactly what Kits needs - a down-to-earth place where students can hang out and play board games.
I will be back soon!
I don't think this place belongs to w.4th; it's kinda ghetto, no offense. When I step inside this shop, it didn't give me this fresh and hip feeling.
If you've never been to this place, the yogurt is charged by weight. Kinda weird. And the toppings are placed out in public so if anybody has a cold or cough, the germs will be all over the food. Also the fruits didn't look that fresh b/c it was left outside for so long. It wasn't placed under or inside a cooler.
Even though everything didn't look that appetizing, I still gave this place a try. The yogurt tasted light or diluted. And the fruits were small. I prefer blueberry (on robson) or yogen fruz.
This place is great in a way that you can fill up your cup with the topping yourself and they just weigh it after when you pay for it. It has a great idea but it's just that i think Scoop doesn't have enough toppings for the customers to choose from. Also, unlike other yogurt places, Scoop doesn't have any variety on the yogurt itself. The price is decent.
This little local store on Kits is a new and fresh addition to the 4th community! From healthy fruits (mango, strawberry, blueberries) to tasty treats (oreos, gummi bears and marshmallows) they have it all! The fruits are kept cool and fresh with a very neat refrigerating system and the toppings are changed daily!
Although they only have a plain yogurt flavor, I must say, this flavor is tasty itself without any of the toppings with a little bit of tartness to it.
The yogurt itself is a set price where the toppings are charged by weight and my small yogurt (quite big actually) came out to around $4.50. My partner had their lychee smoothie which is also made with their yogurt and blended with some fresh lychee and tasted delicious!
The place is quite big for an ice-cream shop but they had plenty of seats and we got cozy in the lower area playing a bunch of different board games (they have a fooseball table as well!)
Not the best time for frozen yogurt with this weather, but will return again soon...once this rain is gone!
I went to this place on a hot day and the first thing I noticed when I stepped inside was how hot is was. They don't have an air conditioner nor did I see any fans. The interior is very plain - looks like it was done on a low budget. I ordered a blended green tea frozen yogurt with no toppings. Came to $3.66. Pricey for a small amount of yogurt, though the yogurt was very good. I really like the tangy flavour and the green tea went well. I may come back for a blended frozen yogurt if it were really hot out and I were in the area. I doubt I'd get toppings since they are something like $0.93/50g. A nice treat, but eat it outside since it's way too hot in there.
This cute little place reminded me a bit of Pinkberry in the States, except with more variety in the toppings. I had a lot of fun picking out my toppings for the frozen yogurt and it was very tasty! It was a very refreshing alternative to regular ice cream. Ambiance was pretty nice, although maybe a bit random with the layout of the back room. I did appreciate that they provided activities such as board games and a foosball table. Price was a bit high when you factor in the extra cost due to the weight of the toppings - I'd prefer if they had a set price for a certain number of toppings that they scoop for you (to be fair to other customers). All in all, I'd recommend this to anyone who's looking for a good frozen yogurt place! :)
I came here back when it opened, and to be honest the shop was pretty plain with just tables and chairs and barely any decorations. This summer, the shop has improved a lot with local art, a better table setup and also games to chill/ take a break from shopping.
I really liked the yogurt here. Its refreshing and light and satisfying to say the least. I used to go to yogenfruz (sp?) for my frozen yogurt fix, but now scoop is definately my goto place. I've also tried blueberry and didn't like it.
Scoop has a lot of toppings from fresh fruit to candy and they also have alot of sauces like caramel, chocolate and Ducle de Leches (which i may say is incredible). They've also added new menu items from last year like waffle bowl, apple pie (as a topping), organic coffee/hot chocolate and tea. They also still have smoothies which are also good (they blend their yogurt with fruit)
I recommend for all to try!
Food: you pick your size of yogurt, they weigh it and then you put on your own toppings, and then they weigh it again and charge you according to the weight (on top of the basic price for the yogurt base). Seemed like they were refilling the topping choices throughout the time I was there, included the usual fresh fruit (mango, strawberry, kiwi etc), cookie/chocolate (oreos, smarties etc) as well as sauces (chocolate, hot fudge, caramel, fruit syrup) etc. They also seemed to have some smoothies, but I only had a yogurt. However, my friends had a smoothie each and both said they were great.
As for the yogurt itself, it's tangy and sweet but it's at the right taste. I was here a couple months ago and I think they've improved the yogurt since then (last visit: a week or two ago) because the yogurt seems less watery and more flavourful then before.
Nice and refreshing on a hot day.
Service: This is where this store exceeds the other yogurt shops in town that seem to be popping up all over the place. The asian guy that helped us was pretty young, but he was very professional and cheerful. He was there each time I went (three times in total) so maybe he's a full time worker?
Value: for most people, this kind of yogurt will always seem too pricey because it's not too filling and it's just dessert for alot of people... It seemed okay, it was better than qoola (near english bay) as that one puts the toppings on for you...and they put way tooo few fruits
Ambiance: Its a bit messy in there, seems like they didnt have alot of money to spend on the place. I don't really get the back area...seems liek they just dug themselves an extra room or something. However, it seems like they try to keep it clean and they have board games for people to play with. I just wish the seats were a little more comfortable, but i guess if anything they want a quick turnover? I live a block from west 4th so I always pass by this place...and from the outside it's hard to tell its a yogurt place at all, maybe they should work on their ambiance first...
The only negative about this place is that I think the topping numebrs are pretty limited...also the topping bowls are so irritating in how small they are! I'm not sure how they plan to keep such a small bowl well stocked in the summer if they get busier, because even now when there are fewer customers I can see that many bowls are near empty.
Overall, it's worth a visit. It's a tasty treat for the kids as well (although maybe I wouldn't let them pick the toppings themselves if you are on a budget...who knows how they would stack them up). It's too bad it seems like it doesn't get noticed very often (I don't know many people who have been here) because I think many ppl would like it... hopefully they do well this summer because I really need a place like this after hitting kits beach...
What a great idea !?!?!
Stumbled here on purpose yesterday afternoon. Fiancee and I walked here from downtown and I admit.. i was hot and sweaty. lol !
Ordered a smoothie each. The lychee one was full of flavour. A tad bit sweet for my taste buds but I am sure others would say this is "just right"
Green Tea Smoothie.. delicious. I am going to order this one next time. Although the blueberry caught my eye as well.
This hip and new trendy frozen yogurt bar is just what 4th ave needed. I don't know if it's just me, but drinking a fro yo smoothie cooled me down alot more than your typical slurpee...
The ceiling is extremely low by the washrooms. WATCH YOUR HEAD !!!!
Thanks for the treat.
