Not the best

I was disappointed to see the Denman location was gone because it was the only place (other than a little bakery on Davie whose name I forget) to get Chinese baked goods in the West End. The W41 location is okay, but not the best. I find the buns are a little pricier than say TT or whatever, and the quality is "meh", to use the popular expression. Still the place is clean and the service is prompt. Okay, so the cakes are not too bad.

So many better choices in the area, so really not worth the bother.

I went to several locations of Saint Germain and I don't have anything bad to say about it.

I went to the one near English Bay, I had bubble tea. It's pretty inexpensive and the quality of the drink is good enough for less than 3 bucks a drink.

I also went to the one on West 41 and the one in Richmond to get some bakery. I have no complaint at all. The items I got are pretty decent. I got some cakes, pastries and breads. Cakes and pastries are really inexpensive with nice packaging. A slice of cake probably costs more and smaller in other dingy looking bakeries (some make tasty goods but it's just the store can look really dingy, that's all). Saint Germain stores are bright and clean especially the one in Richmond is more comfortable (facing big spacious aisle in the mall). Plus the service is friendly.

Yummy goods, price is not more expensive than other stores, good service, stores are decent looking, nice packaging. What's not to like?

The bakery in Yaohan (or T&T, they are branches) has raised the price few months ago. It's no longer the top shop with big selection and most inexpensive price. It still has big selection, price is no longer the best value.

Not the best, not the worst

It's a chain of Eurasian bakeries. I generally prefer Eurasian pastries, cakes, and breads because they are less sugary and lighter overall. It's not a bad place to pick up your little cakes and egg tarts, but I'd definately go somewhere else like T&T or a few of the other bakeries up my sleeve. The cakes and breads are dry and cardboardy. Stay away.
