Rumpus Room offers a revolving menu of home style, freshly prepared 70's dishes like deep fried pickles, organic & free range burgers & sausages and homemade pies & crumbles.
I think before you go to the Rumpus Room, you should realize what its potential is. It's a place you could go to relax with friends and have a meal, yeah... but it can be much more. My scenario involved me and some friends grabbing a couch, pulling out "Sorry" and playing a game. They've got Jenga, Operation, and a few others to play around with while waiting for your meal and drinks.
Whether you're getting fried chicken with waffles and gravy or one of the better hot dogs I've had, this place does comfort food right. The drinks aren't half-bad either, and there's this one involving a pickle... very recommended!
But hey, it's probably not for everybody, but don't be turned off by the swarm of hipsters that congregate around the place at all hours. It's actually a very friendly clientele and staff, that all make you feel welcome. Very communal. Great experience!
Our journey took us to the Rumpus room today. Mostly cause they had 2 things I had on my bucket list.
This being, Deep fried bacon and deep fried avocado. They did not disappoint. The avocado was cripy on the outside and soft in the inside and NOT greasy. Bacon was perfect. The dipping sauces that came with them were also great. We both loved this appy! Check those off my bucket list.
For the main I had the breakfast poutine, all of which I loved, although i felt the gavy needed more flavour.
Rainbow crab tried the burger, of course,,, she said it was ok. The atmosphere was very kitchy which we loved, We went when it was not too busy. I can see this place being squishy when it get's busy.
Service was excellent. Very nice friendly young people. We look forward to going back. Next on my list to try is their deep fried pickles.
