I attended a private music party at Royal Banquet Hall on January 8, 2012
The food served was excellent. - Channa Masala, Bengal Bhartha, noodles.- all excelent.
There were 8 people at our table and there were maybe 30 ( ?) tables.
and it wasn't just me who enjoyed the food at our table. Other people at other tables also praised the food.
What impressed me was that each dish tasted different. Sometimes in an Indian restuarant all vegetable dishes taste same as same masalas (combination of spices) are used.
My mother who was with us really enjoyed it as well and this from an Indian woman who herself is an excellent cook.
the new years party was a big let down . no indian deserts only cupcakes .what a way to start new year .hope in your new year you also get cupcakes and gobercakes. you,ll boasted of mouth watering mithais where were they ? The dinner was served so late around 11.30 and clashed with welcoming of the new year .Spoilt everyones new year. Hope you pay all year round. there were hardly any songs sung and around 10.30 all singers disappeared to other parties and just had songs playing. A BIG LET DOWN !
I went to this party after having had some good buffets at Royal Banquet hall in the past where there was a very tasty mithai buffet as well as decent entrees. Also, the New years eve flyer boasted of some good dishes. Unforuntanately, the party last night was far from good. Half of the dishes that were advertised on the flyers were not in the buffet at all. From spring rolls to chicken samosas, it was not in the buffet at all when it was clearly advertised in the flyer.
The owner had specifically told me that there woud be indian mithais at the buffet like the past events at this hall, but there were horrible pudding and cupcakes at the buffet. This was ATROCIOUS. I have not seen cupcakes at an indian new years party EVER.
Despite being an indian buffet for the most part, there was not a SINGLE INDIAN DESSERT such as gulabjamun or rasmalai or even kheer. Even the $10 buffets at Mehfiul restaurant have kheer at least. This was a $55 per peson party.
Moving over to the service. The waitresses had trouble understanding what we wanted. Small requests such as a cup of tea were either brought 20 mins laters or sometimes not even brought at all. UNEXCUSABLE!
There was no champagne at midnight, the dinner started at 15 past 11pm (is this a suitable dinner time??? ) and the appetizers which consisted of kabobs, fish pakora and samosas did not start till 9pm????? Oh yeah, I forgot conveniently only the chat papri was served from 7pm but none of the other appetizers started till 9pm.
I do not know who managed the party last night but it really spolit Royal banquet halls name. I will think many times before attending a party at this hall again.
My cousin just got married here, the hall was just okay but the food was so good!!! and the service was great as well, they made sure our table was always serviced even though we werent the head table, which means the head table must have been getting even better service! I would definately throw a party here if one ever comes up. =]
My friend just had her wedding in this place and I must say, it is perhaps one of the absolute worst place to have your wedding. Upon entering, you are greeted with plastic blue roses and fake ivy plants hanging on worn white trellis.
The hall was lovely. I liked the lights and candeliar hanging from the ceiling but that was about it.
The food was atrocious! DO NOT have your wedding in this place. Not only was it 2 hours late, the food was tasteless and bland to say the very least. We were greeted with plates of taco chips (from packet) and dipping salsa sauce (from packets). A few measly carrot sticks and brocolli on a plate with dipping sauce (from packets).
The beef was tender but over-salted. The gravy was even saltier and you can tell the gravy most definitely came from a packet. The chicken pieces were so dry you can almost hear the dessert winds. Rice and noodles were bland and tasteless.
The salad was positioned at the wrong end of the table, it was placed next to the dessert with melting ice cream. The salad lettuce leaves were wilted, old cucumber slices, tomato wedges and bottles (!!!) of Kraft Thousand Island dressings on the side. You can tell how much thought they put into the presentation.
Ice cream served at weddings seemed like a great idea but to have your ice cream served just as you come off the buffet line seems laughable. Your ice cream melts while you're heating your meal and as a result, you're sitting there with a crappy fruit platter and ice cream sauce on top.
Service could be improved. There were absolutely NO WAITERS going around and asking if you needed anything. I asked for hot water when they started coming around and dragging their filthy looking trolleys and pilling up the plates into them. I got lukewarm water but hey, at least it came.
Terrible! Terrible! Terrible! I would not recommend this place, not even to my worst enemy.
My friend just had her wedding there and this wedding was paid for in full 4 months prior. The previous owners A & H had promised her the star treatment and gave more than their word they wrote it on paper. Let's just say that it was absolutely unbelievable on the kind of service there was. First guests were serves chips and salsa and it looked like they poured the last bits from the bag out. carrots and brocolli with dip that was soft and totally disgusting. Half the chairs were missing the sashes the waiters were wearing jeans and t-shirts, drinks kept being asked to be served, the 3 waiters working opened all the bottles of wine without asking, center pieces were something from the dollar store that my nephew could have come up with, and here all this time the previous owners promised an elegant wedding reception. We have been trying to contact them since then and they have been avoiding us to make things right. Apparently the owners have fled somewhere else. This poor new bride to be got scammed on her own special day. SOOO SAD to have such dishonest people like that hurt such a happy couple and their family. If anyone else has an issue please let me know I will appreciate it soo much.
Was just looking at the reviews, both good and bad. We just had a fundraiser at this hall and were told that new owners just took over as of August 1st. The same owners of Fraserview Hall. The food was incredible and they really paid attention to detail. We had both Indian and Italian food. The pasta salads were amazing and the butter chicken was really good. We are planning a birthday party in December here. I've been told that they will be renovating the place as well, but the hall itself is really nice with the huge chandeliers, the crown molding and the statues.
I had my wedding last month at the Royal Banquet Hall. We had very little money and we were worried. The managers were the nicest people we had negotiated with, they understood our needs and made it so we could have a decent wedding with what we could afford..
The outside doesn't look like much but it does NOT reflect the inside, its quite big and really well decorated.. they took care of the food for us (which was quite good) and the decorations... I loved how we just picked the colours and they made it happen.... If it wasn't for the Royale Banquet Hall, I probably would have delayed my wedding for another year. The managers will work with your budget to provide you with what you need... Over all I was really please with everything
My East Indian friend invited me to his brother wedding at Royale Banquet Hall in Kingsway, Vancouver. This was my third time there. It is a nice place to party. The hall was decorated for obviously Indian wedding and what a quiet colorful decoration. The food was so testy and liked it very much. I am warning you it was so very hot and spicy and so very testy, than again I love spicy food and that was the ultimate. I guess they prepare the food based on the party’s nationality. –I have had East Indian and western food on my previous visits- Oh; boy was it hot, hot, hot! But than again I am used to my friends mother cooking and they do make things a bet spicy!
It has a big stage for performers and dancers and we did have good time and danced till well passed bedtime!
Definitely recommend the place for your next party. Is not the latest and the most modern place but has friendly atmosphere and quit testy food. Do not forget to invite me too!
