Roxy for drinks? YES!
By cherrybomb143 of Surrey, bc (218 Reviews)

Ok, I have to qualify this review by saying that none of us had any food here. But my friends and I feel that there is a definite lack of affordable downtown lounges where we can have a few drinks and chat without feeling like we're encroaching on a family atmosphere or being in too much of a dive.

The solution? Roxy Burger!

Who knew this old hangout is actually sleek, casual and fun to have a few drinks in. The drinks are too fancy but prices were definitely affordable, being a little lower than other downtown places, yet the staff and patrons are all very friendly.

Definitely will be back and totally recommend.

Our group of 4 ended the weekend here, late night - kicking back a few before the Monday morning blues came. I've balked on this place before and only here due to the wee hours. Rather a surprised find.

It's pub atmosphere, through and through. The lone waitress and bartender were burning the midnight oil with cowboy hats and a soul full of energy. Rock (later turning to country) music at a comfortable volume made for audible (non-yelling) conversations at the table.

We ordered a round of Sleemans, tequila and Jaeger shots and gin on the rocks, alongside an order of yam fries and poutine. Drinks came fast but the food came slow, though everyone who was still coming in were here mostly for drinks. The food was solid, if not ordinary, and came hot.

Lots of regulars here, and I can see why. Considering its location and proximity to rowdiness (we had lots of glimpses pass by the window during our wind down), I'm actually pleasantly surprised of the contrasting demeanor inside here. Comfortable seating with lots of elbow room, daily specials and decent pub grub, open extra late with the friendly atmosphere to boot.

Roxy Burger is a place for the rest of the people on Granville.

I really cant understand the people that love this place. Is it because of the Roxy name,or the close proximity to said bar?

Everytime I have gone,it never gets better.Food is sub par, even for a glorified greasy spoon, which is basically what this place is.

burgers are blah, poutine is poopy, fish and chips are a gyp,so....no real reason to try it again.

Kick Ass Food, After Hours Cool

This restaurant on Granville has a great vibe and rock n roll after hours appeal. The food is great. Went twice this week for lunch with a number of people and all their dishes were A-OK. Their strength is their burgers and the great service. The super friendly (and sexy) waitress kept us in stitches. The kitchen is open until 4:00 a.m., but I suspect it might be a bit of a gong show at that time. Worth a try.

My friends and I occasionally go to Roxy Burger because it is close to home. The first experience went pretty well....until the annoying waitress started her shift. It was the day after Halloween, everybody was hungover and the waiter we started out with was pretty good. Then the waitress from hell came on...did she think that YELLING and SCREECHING like a teenager would make us want to stay? When we asked her for refills on our drinks, she turned and abruptly yelled at the other waiter to take care of his own tables. Seriously. We didn't leave too happy despite the pretty solid food and good service to begin with. This male waiters service is the only reason I give the service a 2.

Since then it has gone WAY downhill. We were in there late one evening and even with only 2 other tables occupied, we were not given a menufor a least 15 minutes. They knew we were there since we were at least greeted upon arrival, but that was unacceptable so we left. I'll give the place one more try, but I'm not holding my breath.

We went there for lunch - a little late (just after 1) and the place was just clearing out. Got a booth - the place could use an overhaul but after all, it IS a burger joint! I ordered their Roxy burger and was pleasantly surprised - even without the bun I could barely finish it. The fries tasted like half were re-fried and half were fresh. Perhaps that is due to our arrival time. Decent price - $11.99. All in all, a good, tasty burger. I'd go back for sure. I'd certainly recommend it. I wish I could give it better ratings but it was really good, just not fabulous.

Mmmm Roxy Burger

Got a very regular burger, very, very good. Actually ate all the fries. Was a little ashamed of myself, but would like to think my gluttony was a compliment to the chef. Not much more to say about a burger in a place mainly set up to serve club-goers stomach lining before they go to Caprice. The waitress was adorable, and was very quick on the pop-glass-uptake. Unfortunately, when drying my hands in the ladies room, the force of getting a towel out of the dispenser caused something to unpop, and the front cover, positioned perfectly at forehead level, fell open, hitting me directly on the head. Not that this is the fault of Roxy burger. I think my own innate awkwardness in toilets always cause these things to happen.

i LOVE roxy burger

My girlfriends and I frequent the roxy burger after the bar. I might be slightly biased because of the tradition we have when we all get together, but i love it. The service can sometimes be slow on a Friday or Saturday night, depending on how many servers are on. However, I always leave happier than when I came in. The one complaint I have are the bathrooms. They're creepy. I don't like how they're in the basement. I get an uneasy feeling going down that winding hallway and down the flights of stairs, like someone is gunna jump out at me. I would highly recommend this place to anyone needing a bite to eat after the bar. Sometimes we even drive downtown from Burnaby just to get the Big Ass Salad and Roxy Fries. i LOVE roxy burger.

We came by here for a quick bite before a show and we were blown away by the quality of food and the pleasant upbeat service. While most of our group tried the burgers, I was looking for something a little different and tried the Shepards pie. It was amazing! We ended up coming back after the show for a few more beers as the special was an unbelievable value. We shared some appys and once again were amazed at the quality of the food.
We will definitely be back again soon and often.

Best fun atmosphere in Vancouver

The decor is fun, the food is fun, the waitresses are gorgeous blondes in skirts, but parking sucks he he. Sounds like a (almost) perfect restaurant. You figure with the waitresses looking so sexy you would fall for tipping like crazy... and you would be correct. hehe
I have been there three times. On two occasions I went after work with co-workers for drinks. On the third, I met up this lady friend for some R&R.

Every dish that I have tried is between good and spectacular. The burgers and steaks are the best I have ever eaten.

Service is fast - most of the time you don't want it to be - but since my girlfriend and me were on a curfew and had a room booked we appreciated it this time. Two can dine and drink for $40 + tip.

It's a burger place!

It's a burger place in the middle of the "action" if you are in the middle of your 20s. Fair food and a fair price for a "sit down and hang out for a bit" meal.

I give it good marks for ambiance because of the location. If your group is delayed or having trouble deciding where to go, you still feel that you are out downtown on the Granville strip. Mind you there are always people that would rather just pick up a hotdog, and spend their evening waiting in line to get into some overrated club. I am not missing those days! But back to Roxy Burger...

During the day, it is a lazy, mellow place, to people watch. There seems to be a lot of regulars and people in the service industry stopping by. The only issue with this place during the day, is that you will probably need a nap after eating here.

However, if I want a burger and beer downtown, Roxy Burger will fit the bill a lot better than some of the pubs.

A great Burger shack on granville if you are out clubbing and need your burger fix.
Pricing is okay not too expensive but not cheap either
Service was slow we waited about 30 minutes for two burgers.
Ambiance to busy to tell the place was packed.

Still a great burger joint on granville st...

The food? AWESOME, the Pub in general, very cool.
I was very Happy with this place everytime I stopped by. I usually get the same Bartender, until one time last week. Im not going to say his name, but I tipped him well everytime, until the last night, I noticed, he already "Tipped" himself, by me not getting all my change back,....??? Whats with this I do not know. If you want an HONEST tip, then give your customers their HONEST change back. Its not like I dont tip, Cause I do. But for heavens sake, you have awesome food, people WILL tip you. I always did, until that day. Dont get me wrong people, the waitresses are awesome, the food is even better. Guaranteed you will Eat your whole Burger, its AWESOME. Good Rock-ish vibe, with Sports on the Tvs..... Just count your damn change if the Bartender Serves you....

I moved to Vancouver about 5 years ago and Roxy Burger was always raved about for it's awesome burgers and fries. Not to mention the great staff that always seemed happy to make your visit enjoyable.

Over the years however the service, food and ambience has really gotten worse... each year a bit more. The burgers have slipped into complete disarray, lacking both the taste and texture (which now feels like burnt cardboard). We tried the chicken strips last time and I really didn't expect to see 3 puny strips of chicken battered in what looked like coconut shrimp batter. There was barely any chicken at all in these things. I certainly can say they weren't like that a few years ago.

The staff seems to have gotten more apathetic to their customers and more into gossiping and looking haggard as hell from their early morning drinking binges. It seems they hire for an ability to party rather than an ability to wait on customers.

Of course, one goes to the Roxy Burger more often to get drunk to begin with. So why do I feel the need to complain about the beer as well? Well, because they rarely seem to clean their draught lines and the beer ends up tasting like it was filtered through a pile of dirt.

Honestly, I am done with this place... the place I used to consider one of the best burger joints in the city. It's quite sad too. They have so much potential should they ever consider focusing on saving their business.

Were staying at a hotel for the night with my girlfriend just treating ourselves and ventured out for some food at the end of the day. They have no regard for entertainment or customers. The waitresses, wait there were no waitresses, were male and what do you expect? This, after we came here searching for some leggy/sexy/cute/whatever waitresses that would sizzle our dining experience because the hotel's own pub was a borefest! Won't be returning here. Obviously we were in the wrong restaurant. My girlfriend and I will not be back.
