Small Italian jazz and pasta house in the heart of Kits beach. Casual dinning, offering pizza, pasta, and other italian favorites. Live jazz nightly.
The same pasta for less! Go for the early bird dinner or go for the evening jazz. It gets rather crowded when the live music starts. That's when service gets worse. So don't go with an entirely empty stomach otherwise, you might have to really concentrate on the music and atmosphere... the crowd, to distract yourself from the hunger you're feeling waiting for your order to show up. You can always try the gastown location if they haven't closed shop.
Well, I have been here 3 times now, and it’s consistently mediocre to poor. The room is dated, and lacking appeal, the service is, well, not very good. Our server on Sat night was a little lost, but very friendly, and obviously run off her feet being the only one on the floor. I shouldn’t have to ask for a drink in a restaurant. The food is what it is, garlic drenched, family restaurant quality Italian. But I have come to the determination that it’s not the food, or the service that keeps people coming back, but instead the great offering of local jazz. Each time I’ve gone, I have really enjoyed the nights booking, and even though the food sucks, I will probably go back.
I Recently came in for dinner and to hear some Jazz. My drink was poorly made and the food was overly salty. The prices were decent.
My waitress was not all there in the head and seemed unsure of what she was doing. The manager worse. Very rude and uncaring.
However the atmosphere was nice and the music was great.
I will not be coming back to be treated poorly.
Honestly, out of all the jazz places in the city, this place is where it's at. I've been to them all, but I must say that I would keep coming back to Rossini's.
The setting is very chill, atmosphere is amazing. Food is so-so as mentioned below in other reviews, so I would suggest coming after dinner and enjoy some wine instead and maybe an evening stroll at kits beach afterwards? Sounds like a good date idea and you can't go wrong with that.
Firstly, I would strongly recommend yo go to Rossini's - despite what I'm about to say. The music and the whole experience is unforgettable.
However - and it's a HUGE however. The staff and service is beyond awful. They're rude, ignorant, spilled drinks on one of our party, told us we didn't need to book, then refused us a table when we arrived. If there were police for such things some of thse servers would be carted away and never released. We honestly were looking around for candid camera type stuff on our last visit, we even asked if that's what was going on. 4 visits now, progressively worse service each time. How can the owners not be aware of this? This town is overrun with great servers - fire the idiots and bring in some quality!
On the positive the baked pasta dishes are very good, and the little overworked un-Italian guys in the back do a great job keeping oup their end of the bargain.
The music is what you go for. It's simply the best live music experience I've found in Vancouver and the atmosphere is quite brilliant too. Strangely on the Saturday afternoon slot we favour, about 90% of guests are regulars... we see all the same faces whenever we go. It's also full of musicians who play there, as you might imagine.
It's tiny, the service is abysmal, but I would kill for their baked cheese pasta and I've never heard a bad live act. Check it out - but expect nothing but the very very worst service and you won't be disappointed.
I was brought here originally on a first date, and though the relationship didn't work, the fantastic food, and accoumpanying Jazz made the expirience incredibly romantic and just so memorable. I don't understand people's reviews, this should definately be a higher rated restaurant, as the ambiance is romantic, and intimate, the jazz phenominal, and the food superb.
My only complaint was the service, and I didn't even recieve bad service at all, being once a waitress I would know what bad service entails.
For a romantic, close knit dinner for a reasonable price, Rossini's is top notch and the best italian I've seen come out the lower mainland. Keep it up, Rossini's, and I will see you on friday!
