Ricky's is a family friendly spot offering a varied menu of casual classics for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
We were really hungry. Didn't want to dine in the food court. We ordered a bacon cheese burger and chicken strips. Thought we were playing it safe. The burger was bland, dry, had processed cheese on it and the fries were undercooked. The chicken strips were hard (probably re-fried) and the fries were, again, gross. There was only one server there so service was slow, not her fault. For what we paid, we at least expected real cheese. The food court would have been a better option.
I decided to try Ricky's for late Breakfast and when I walked in, I was was greeted with a lukewarm server. No smile, hello and walked ahead without saying anything to me. This is where I should have left, since I found my server either didn't have enough experience or really not into her job. I ordered eggs, hashbrown, toast and coffee and when my coffee arrived it wasn't very warm and tasted bitter. When my meal did arrive, it was lukewarm, n ot hot and the hash browns were cold. When I saw the manager, I asked if having warm food was the norm and if I could get it reheated. It didn't take too long to get my meal re-done and my server didn't seem to understand if I could a fresh cup of coffee. When I suggested if you could get me a new cup from another table, I got the impression she usually doesn't have people speak up about the food.
I did think the Manager got High marks for service, and this place does have cheap prices. As for the service, unless this is normal or she was having a bad day, service needs to improve and be friendlier.
I doubt I will return soon.
For a quick sit down with kids it was preety darn good for the location. Beats the heck outta fat burger and probably costs less. The food was certainly edible although the entrees we a little too high in price by about a couple of dollars. Pizza was really good condering it wasn't a pizza place. The coffee was not good but really that's about it.
If you're in a hurry and don't want take out, I'd say this is a good bet in this part of town
Mrs. C and I were looking for a quick meal and we spotted Ricky’s. It is next to the terrible F-burger next door. We were seated in the almost empty restaurant and I suspect the rain/snow was keeping people away. Also, I noticed that they closed at 7. “Have to eat fast”, I thought.
I had the double burger and fries. Margaritas were on special, so I went with raspberry. Mrs. C had the 2 egg and steak breakfast with hash browns. My burger was excellent, with lots of meat and cheese, and it looked like one of those burgers you see in commercials but rarely experience in real life. Tall, big, juicy, tasty. The fries were thick and perfectly prepared. The margarita was okay, but next time I’ll stick to Bellinis.
Mrs. C reported that her breakfast for dinner was excellent, and she even ate the hash browns despite her usual aversion to them. The steak was in her words “fantastic”.
The service was good, and the place was clean and comfortable. The men’s w/c was having plumbing issues, but the ladies room was said to be clean.
An extremely satisfying and unexpected experience.
Recommended.
Recently visited Ricky's since the first choice for brunch had too long of a line. The good thing about Ricky's (and I suppose most other franchises) is that you always know what you're going to get. The food (eggs benny, BC burger, pancakes with berries etc) was average, but we were seated quickly, service was fast and we got fed.
Prices were reasonable, at about $15 per person. Though,to be fair there are a lot of very competitive specials at more inventive brunch places in the neighbourhood.
Ricky's is good for those looking for a no-frills, large menu kind of breakfast.
I really enjoyed eating here the first time i dined here (been here twice so far). The second time, the service was okay.
The first i came here, i had a veggie burger with fries, and my boyfriend had poached fish with rice. The veggie burger and the poached fish dish weren't so great, but their curly-like fries were really good-soft on the inside and crispy on the outside, both the times that we went. We also had Apple Crumble topped with ice cream for dessert, which was excellent. The dessert was actually quite a big serving and was plenty for both of us to share, (no one complained though). We left satisfied with the kind, middle-aged lady's service and very full bellies.
The second time we went, my boyfriend had a crispy Fish Sandwich with fries and i had an Omelette filled with mushrooms and cheese with Pancakes. Both of our meals were filling. My boyfriend really liked his sandwich, and the fries were great too. My omelette was good, except the mushrooms didn't go so well with the omelette. The pancakes were good too. The meal was too much for one sitting though. The service was okay, nothing.
Their servings are usually big, and both the times we came here, we spend around $25-$30 for the both of us. (We didn't have any drinks though)
The dessert really was unforgettable. I'd come back just for the Apple Crumble and also the fries. I think Ricky's serves the best fries here in Vancouver.
Food price is great! I went in for breakfast on a Saturday morning.
I had a cute asian server who had big dark eyes, very attractive. She always came by with the coffee even if it was half full. Condiments came along with the hot breakfast meal. I believe there was only one cook and one server. She kept running around as there were more than five tables. I ordered a Grand forks, I believe. 3 Hot pancakes, 3 eggs, sausages and bacon, and HOT cubed hashbrowns. There cannot be any greater service than this. If I had a restaurant, I would hire them both!
I tipped the waitress moe than the average percent. I've never been served by such a nice and caring waitress. I fully recommend for breakfast! Price is great, food is great, what else do you expect?
