Coffee, Dessert and Poetry

I've been here a handful of times and really love it. If hippies/beatniks/vegetarians/poets/GLBT community members make you uncomfortable then probably skip it. Otherwise it's an excellent place to come for a relaxing evening of thought-provoking poetry, presentations, music, etc.

The few dishes I've had here are very tasty. It's also ideal for a "dessert and coffee" date. They have a good booze selection as well.

It's warm and comfy. There are couches and plenty of reading material/games. The artwork is always interesting.

I've been to Rhizome many times and though sometimes I have had to wait for a table, clearly it's because the food is so good! I have never been disappointed with any of the choices I've made from the menu. The art on the walls is sometimes questionable but if you want art go to a gallery and not a restaurant. The staff are very friendly and competent, and you won't be bothered by loud music.

My first time here was for an event so I didn't really get to order anything with all the madness. great place for events.
My friends and I are always looking for places that will allow you to just stay and chill and chat away for hours. Rhizome is a nice "chill place". Atmosphere is relaxed. You don't have to be an activist or artsy type to feel comfortable here. Their menu is interesting. Had brunch there once and the eggs benedict with the salmon thing was really good served with the "roots". I loved how they used a pumpkin/squash sort of sauce instead of the usual hollandaise. Had lunch there another time and loved the sandwich with the apple in it. Soup of the day was some vegan broccoli thing with lime and it was amazing. My friend had the mac and cheese. It wasn't as imaginative but still pretty good and "real" tasting unlike kraft dinner...haha. Have yet to try their spiked selection of teas. They also have a kids menu.
