The Railway Club is a classic live music venue downtown with a pub menu.
This is my favourite lunch spot and the place I take people from out of town for a unique slice of Vancouver. The RC has a long history as a music venue, but during the day, it serves one of the best values around. It’s also a great place for people watching from the second floor at Seymour and Dunsmuir. The atmosphere is warm, with ornate wood throughout the three separate rooms and the staff is always pleasant. There’s an outdoor smoking patio as well.(But don’t you think you should quit?) It's a little hard to compare the service with other restaurants as it is self-serve for both drinks and food. For the kitchen, you order, pay, take a number and the server come by with you food a short time later. This is pretty basic pub fare: burgers, salads, wraps, etc., but it’s done very well and the prices for most items is below $10. There’s a different soup everyday and some days it’s incredible. The RC also features three lunch specials daily that are hard to beat for value. The burgers are one reason I go back. The California burger is my choice. Can’t do a burger, then try the cob salad. For those who like their beer there is a wide variety on tap including a good selection of micro breweries. And where else can you get a 15-year-old single malt for under $8? Can you believe it?
