Pronto is an Italian restaurant in Vancouver’s Cambie Village. Pronto features porchetta, Italian roast pork. Pronto also offers a range of other traditional dishes, including vegetarian options.
I went there a couple days ago for lunch. I have been there before and had their porchetta sandwich which is very good (meat and bread is still better). I had there pasta once (gnocchi) which I wasn't overly impressed. The place is cute reminds me of a typical osteria you see in Italy. I was there with a friend and I ordered the soup and my friend ordered rigatoni pasta with a cream mushroom sauce. The soup was very filling and good but the pasta was average at best. You could tell that the pasta was precooked and overcooked. This in my opinion is unacceptable in an Italian restaurant or maybe I am spoiled. The sauce in the pasta was good but with overcooked pasta it took away from an otherwise good experience. Campinolos Roma on Hasting still my favorite. I saw a pizza come out of the oven and it look good. I will be back but only for the sandwiches and to try to pizza. The place was busy and the service was good.
I had lunch here today, it's a small casual place. I consumed..
Daily pasta - $18 Pappardelle Arrabbiata with prawns. This was a great pasta with a nice flavorful sauce with the perfect hint of heat, I was very happy with the dish. 4/5
Daily Dessert - $6 Lemon Tiramisu - This was different, good but I prefer the traditional tiramisu. 3.5/5
Cappuccino - $3.25 - Above average. 3.5/5
I think this is a good little spot for a quick, casual, flavorful plate of pasta. I will be back.
My husband, daughter and I stopped in for a quick lunch on a Saturday afternoon and it was really great! I've been wanting to try it out for awhile but for whatever we never ended up there. The menu is full of so many awesome sounding handmade pastas and sandwiches that I had a heck of a time choosing. I ended up ordering the Sopressata...it was so tasty! They bake the bread fresh in house and you sure can tell. I am definitely going to return and sample some of the other offerings!
Been twice this week for a porchetta sandwich. Lots of flavour, large portion and excellent quality. Young friendly servers, lack a little finesse but make up for it with big smiles. The bread was better the second visit, crustier and tasted fresher. Nice room very cosy. Family run which is nice. Great value, lots of roast pork in the sandwich. Consistency needs a little work, first visit sage overpowered the pork but today's sandwich was outstanding. Small but interesting menu with a couple of specials. Nice addition to the neighbourhood. Saves me a trip downtown. Will definitely be back and highly recommend for a quick bite.
This restaurant is a miracle in Vancouver - a decent Italian restaurant that serves REAL Italian food without charging a small fortune.
The porchetta is the star here and it is done well. The last time I had porchetta this good was at Fabrizio's delicatessen in Assisi. I've tried it in a sandwich and as the plate dinner. Was thrilled both times. My husband tried the gnocchi with porcetta and porcini in tomato sauce. Lovely - that's all that needs to be said. The food is well seasoned, but with a lovingly restrained hand so that all the flavours shine. The ingredients are elegant in their simplicity. Also, I had one of the best cappucino I've had in a long time.
The portions are "normal" size and are affordably priced. Both occasions that I've eaten here, I left feeling fully satisfied and glowing with a reminder of how lovely Italian food can be when done right. THANK YOU!
