Our family wanted to try something different one day. I was kinda excited because we've been eating at the same few restaurants for the past yr. My parents always go to Prince on Grandview Hwy for dimsum and we heard that President is from the same owner/partner. This restaurant was a far drive but we thought it'll be worth it since we expect President to have the same quality and service as Prince. We made reservation just in case. When we got there at 6:30pm on a weekend, the place was less than half full.
We ordered the lobster special which included lobster soup and lobster w/ deep fried vermicelli. Also, we had pepper salted pork chop, garlic pea shoots and half chicken w/ crispy skin. The lobster special was ok and not too salty. Everything else was boring and bland. I was disappointed.
As for service, they were doing their job but they barely spoke a word to us. When another family arrived, one of the server was super friendly to them. I didn't like that.
Price wise, I find it too expensive. Even thought they are located on the "higher end" side
of town, their quality and taste did not meet up to par.
I'm not happy with this restaurant. I give this place a FAIL.
The food is edible, although the dim sum is quite oily and expensive. The dim sum experience is not quite up to snuff with the management cramming extra tables into the relatively unspacious room. For dinner, having reservations is a must. Otherwise the servers will give you a table in the corner without justification. This happenned to me. My family came to have dinner at 5:30 and since we had no reservation they stuck us by the door even though 90% of the restaurant was empty. The next reservations were not until 7. The food was slow - 2 hours for 3 dishes! As there are many other Chinese food options in Vancouver, I do not suggest Presidents.
We had an horrible dinner experience. The service was so slow that our dinner lasted for 2 and 1/2 hours. It was a torture especially when you have 4 hungry kids waiting and 2 babies crying cause the dinner was so long. Dishes came one at a time. By the time the last one came,we lost our appetite All the glasses we got were dirty, we all had to drink out of cans. We reserved a dish for each table (2 tables) one day ahead and only 1 dish was available. So only one table got to eat. On top of all that, the waiter charged us for a dish that we did not order and then questioned and checked our table to make sure we didn't eat it. The bill took another 20 minutes to resolve. It was an awlful experience.
