Family owned business since 1984. Large variety of specialty pizzas to choose, as well as baked pastas and barbecue items.
I've come here regularly as my go-to take-out pizza place for many years now. It has remained consistent and has been a staple in the area for a couple of decades too, outlasting many other places on this East Broadway strip.
It's run by a chinese family and they're very friendly. They recognize and remember regular patrons over the phone. I've generally stuck to the Pesto/Pesto Chicken and Mexican, branching out on occasion. The BBQ Chicken is OK, too sweet with the sauce they use for it though. Toppings are decent, although consistent throughout the countless times ordering here. I love their crust. A good amount of chewiness and crispness without the greasy fingers. They also have sub sandwiches, bbq chicken, salads and their pasta is for the value conscious as it comes with
your choice of lasagna, spaghetti or ravioli, a large wedge of garlic bread, a small house salad with dressing and a can of soda, which are all passable.
Prices have crept up little by little over the years although it's still inexpensive.
They have a frequent buyer's stamp card for pickup orders, whereby the 9th order is free, either pasta of your choice of pizza (small, medium, large) of your choice with up to 6 toppings.
Somewhat surprised that there are no reviews for this place. I remember my older brothers ordering from this place back in the early/mid 90's.
I always order the lasagna pasta combo here. It's a take-out/delivery joint owned by an asian family, so authenticity is definitely out of the question. Having said that, for $12.xx you get 2 large aluminum containers of pasta (lasagna, spaghetti, and/or ravioli), 2 slices of garlic bread, 2 green salads, and 2 cokes - not a bad deal! The lasagna itself is pretty decent for takeout. I personally think it's better than some of the stuff at many of the chains restaurants (Red Robbins, White Spot), but I've had bad experiences at those places.
Anyways, these guys are open late, and offer a loyalty stamp card (Buy 8 or 9 pastas and get 1 free).
I wouldn't go out of my way to try this place out, as it's not exactly in the best part of town. If you're stuck for ideas in the latter night hours (I think they are open till 12 on weekdays and 1 or 2 on weekends) and live sorta within a 5-15 minute drive from Pizza King, I'd recommend this place over fast food any day!
I really think this place deserves more than a 3 star rating, granted it is only a Pizza joint. But compared to Dominos or Panago. This place is MUCH better. I have been ordering here for almost 30 years. It is so good. Solid, Yummy Pizza. Family owned. They are always very nice and have never gotten our order wrong. If you ever need pizza delivered, try here. You will not regret it. Meatball subs are yummy!
We ordered in from Pizza King several times and we have always enjoyed what we have ordered, especially at the price.
The last time we ordered the Pizza & Pasta Combo. We opted for the Lasagna and a small pizza with mushroom, onions and pepperoni. The combo also comes with a tossed salad, garlic toast and 2 cans of pop.
The Lasagna is nothing fancy. It appears to be Lasagna noodles with their meat sauce, which is then baked in the over with some cheese. It doesn't look that great, but the taste is very good. I remember ordering this about 10 years ago and the flavour is still the same.
The Pizza was good as well. It will never win an award as the best in the city, but it still had good taste to it.
The salad is pretty bland and we usually never eat it. The garlic bread is okay.
Overall, we paid $18.00 for all this ($15.70 plus delivery). They also have pick-up which would have come out to $12.85. This was a very good value overall.
We will continue to order from them when we can. If you live nearby though, it might be worth your while though to pick it up yourself. The location is a bit of a hole in the wall, but it still provides good value.
