Neigbourhood Pizzeria
I used to come here all the time. I used to live around main st. and after work I would drop by for a pizza or some pasta or salad. I would come here at least 2-3 times a week. The food is all pretty good. The one thing that bothered my about this place which is why I don't come here anymore is the owner, (the guy) Like I said, I used to come at least 2-3 times a week, and every time I come in it's like he doesn't even know you, barely a hello. I've taken my business elsewhere.
Papa's is a gem. I probably eat at here a few times a week and I never feel guilty about having pizza for my lunch or dinner. Their slices are not greasy and if you get the spinach & feta it has a whole wheat crust.
I personally like the consistency of 5 pies in the warmer: pepperoni, ham & pineapple, spinach & feta, veggie, and the special.
My boyfriends approach is to order the special no questions asked and see what kind of concoction they've come up with...spaghetti, shrimp, bbq chicken, it's always a tasty surprise.
Although the slices are not huge, they're only $1.55. And I've always found the service to be friendly and appreciative of their regular customers. Only open til 10pm, which sucks sometimes but it's a fair trade off for Papa's to maintain a nicer quality establishment than your average late night pizza shop.
Papas pizza is a great little slice place at Main & 14th. The pizza is simple and delicious and because it's always busy, it's usually very fresh. They have 5 choices: pepperoni, ham and pineapple, spinach and feta, vegetarian and the special. The special changes with each pizza, so you never know what they might have. The barbecue chicken pizza is a good one, as well as the lasagna pizza. The owners are friendly and with at least one of them always their working, the quality never slips. And just so you know, they do pick up but not delivery.
Papa's is awesome. Their pizza by the slice is a great deal (cheap!) and they heat it up for you. The woman/owner at the counter is just terrific. Super friendly staff. [Of course, the BEST pizza in the city, let alone by the slice is 2001 Flavors on the corner of Seymour & Pender but that's another story...]
The dough at Papa's is the biscuit sort, not too heavy, and somewhat of an aquired taste but yummy (and maybe less calories than regular heavier dough?)
Real shame they don't deliver.
