This place was one of the first sushi places i tried in Vancouver and everytime i go to a new sushi restaurant i find it weird they dont have bubble tea because it just goes sooo well. After a whole bunch of sushi places i still find this the best california roll place in vancouver. I dont go much these days but when i do i always leave happy.
Walked in and ask to order for take-out waitress had us seated and requested for our order without giving us time to at the menu then when asked for one minute to look she just turned and walked away without any sort of response. After looking at the menu we had to call her back to place our order. She then brought us plates and chopsticks which I thought was weird since we asked for take-out. We then wanted to take a walk instead of just sitting down and wait, so we told her our plan and went out for a stroll. About 15 mins past and we came back just to be asked "oh, you wanted to eat in?" So while hoping for our food to be made and ready for us was for not because they didn't even start making out food yet.
Once we finally got our food a came home with it, we found one of our order was missing and was paid for. Truly annoying at this point. Called and was told that we had already taken it home with great disbelief.
Guess it serves me right for not walking our the door after the rude waitress's attitude.
Maybe I just came in at a bad day but after this experience I don't think I will be coming back anytime soon.
no more incredibly cheap lunch combos with super crispy terriyaki chicken and rice and sushi/soup for only 3.95
rice for sushi is not sticky enough and has too much msg. the imitation crab/pollack is of cheap quality. sizes are small. $7 lunch combos include half a cali roll, salmon roll and bc roll
overall i wouldn't drop by even though it's a convenient sushi stop
This sushi place is great for dining in. I wouldn't say that the sushi here is the best i've ever tasted, but i would say that it is decently satisfying. Presentation of the sushi also deserves an A+. The only bad thing about this place is that it's a bit small and that their customer service could improve.
I would definitely come here to eat when i'm craving sushi for lunch.
First I thought it's wired that they have bubble tea and sushi together. But the sushi taste so fresh and the bubble tea taste just excellent. I like to go there at around 10 with my frds-- there won't be too many people, good place to chat and have bubble tea. I guess it's cool.
They just open a branch in DT, on 889 Pacifit St.(something like that, between granville and burrard) it's also called Nishiki. they have a party room now. So we can go for sushi party now!! haha!
I been here on a few occasions and i think the owners keep changing.
Recently I tried the udon the noodles were perfect but the soup was a bit on the sweet side. I wish they used different veggies.
I have tried many of the special rolls such as Waikiki, Spider Roll and Dragon roll. They are alll sooooooooo damn good! But the only thing is that its always inconsistant a bit different compared to the picture. The sushi chef i could tell was experienced and i only trust the sushi.
The service staff memebers need to work on the service and just being organized. I feel like they always seem a bit confused.
dine in and take out no matter what the service is very very very slow so prepare to wait and they are always constantly making mistakes. I hate dine in I always feel so akward so i would rather call to take out. Always double check your order and just dont be afraid to ask to check the wait time for items.
I had ordered delivery from this restaurant once, and despite some confusion and the fact that I waited almost two hours, I was ultimately satisfied. I thought I would give this place a chance again. What a mistake!
Apparently, they get outraged if they get your voicemail. I called back less than five minutes after they left a message and confirmed my order. "You just had voicemail," the man on the other line said, in an exasperated tone. I explained that my phone wasn't working properly, and he snickered. During the call, I mentioned TWICE that I would be paying by credit card.
So the delivery man arrived, and I gave him my credit card. He had a dumbfounded look on his face. "You're paying by credit card? You have no cash at all?" I told him that I did NOT, hence why I was paying by credit card. The smile completely gone from his face, he called the restaurant on his cell and bickered with the person there. He then thrust the phone at me. The woman on the other line actually had the audacity to accuse me of not telling them that I wasn't paying by credit card. First of all, when you request delivery, the payment method is indicated on the fax. Second, it is NOT my responsibility to tell every person who works there what my payment method will be. Third, I guess their mentality is that the customer is NEVER right.
So the driver ended up going back to the restaurant, leaving me with my food, and said he'd come back with a bill I could sign. I asked him when he'd be coming back, and he said, "Whenever! I get several delivery requests, you know!" He did grudgingly tell me to enjoy my food, but I wasn't hungry any more.
A few hours later, he came back, and I signed the bill. Then he said to me, "You have to let us know when you're using credit card next time. Then we can avoid all this." I kept saying good-bye repeatedly, while he kept scolding me. "1" isn't even good enough for this restaurant. The service was the worst I've ever encountered here. Maybe they're better if you don't deliver, but I don't think I'll ever set foot in this restaurant again.
As for the food, I liked it. Filling, tasty, and the tempura was delicious-- not at all soggy. The dynamite rolls had enough tempura, and the chicken teriyaki rolls had lots of chicken. Still, I'm sure I can find a better Japanese place elsewhere, with much nicer customer service. Never again!
I got takeout from Nishiki last night, and I don't know what all the bad rap is about.
I was actually scared to order because of all the reviews, but they were the only place that would deliver, and my boyfriends' car was up to it's bumper in snow. The sushi was good, the spring roll (which we got without any dairy for my fussy vegan self) was really good. Despite the delivery driver getting lost, the food still arrived without soggy tempura. The rolls were mediumish sized, and a little more expensive than I'm used too, but now that I have an actual menu I can order the $3 avacado/yam roll instead of the $7 spring roll. Overall it was pretty good.
I haven't been inside this place in forever, so I can't speak for the actual wait service.
Not my favourite sushi joint, but it's my go to delivery place.
I just got my delivery yesterday. Excellent food(the phoenix Roll and Dragon Roll are so so good), and nice sevice, I asked them to make adjustments they did it.
They also deliver my favorite bubble tea too. I went with a fresh mango slush. It was awesome. It had real fresh mango taste and was expertly prepared.
BTW, they told me the food is no-MSG. More safty for me.
I first came here with my friend because he never had sushi before(yes i no what your thinking what a noob) so we walked around his street and saw this place it looked decent so we went in and ordered some sushi for takeout.the sushi was good but we had to wait pretty log for it.
I had placed a pick up order using Nishiki's online ordering service. On this website it says that the restaurant will call back in 10 minutes to confirm the order. I waited 15 minutes and no call so i called the number provided on the website. It was a cell phone number and the guy that picked up said that thier fax machine wasn't working so they never got the order. He said that he would call the restaurant and get them to call me. The number they provided wasn't even the restaurant number!!! Another 10 minutes go by and no call so I called the cell phone back and he said that they were supposed to call me but he would take my order anyway and relay it back to the restaurant. The entire time, this guy really seemed like he didn't want to deal with me. Obviously it was his day off since he wasn't even at the restaurant. Here's an idea.....don't supply your personal number as the restaurant phone number then!! He takes my order, quotes me a 15 minute wait time and we hang up.
Just as I am about to leave I get a phone call from Nishiki saying that they want to take my order. I told them yes I know the fax machine isn't working but I've placed my order with a man already and that he was supposed to give it to the restaurant. She keeps insisting that they never got it. She can't speak English very well and seems very rushed. She kept interupting me as I was trying to explain the situation. Ultimately, she gets pissed off, gives me a huge exasperated sigh and passes me over to another lady. I explain the situation and she says ok and just takes my order...for the 3rd time! She then quotes me 30 minutes and I said no I was told 15 minutes. She then says she is too busy to have it ready in that time. I told her that I have already been waiting for 40 minutes for them to just get my order in and that if it was ready in 15 minutes I'll come get it but if not to just cancel my order. Ultimately, I waited 40 minutes for nothing. I was so frustrated with this experience and the food isn't good enough for me to deal with that again. Save yourself the headache and drive 5 minutes to get better service and food.
we have some friends living in that area, they have a same feeling about this sushi place: before it was really good, including sushi, bubble tea, service, delivery, etc. but right now, all of us can not say like this. they wrote the last review for themself, come on, it is no use to good by yourself, it should wrote by someone else, not yourslef. Just improve it, not just by your keyboard. we hope you understand.
Nishiki's used to be our go-to spot for a sushi craving but we went there this past Wednesday and were extremely disappointed.
We normally order agedashi tofu and it tastes pretty good. This time, the taste was the same, but the size of the tofu shrunk by about half. Now, we have 6 small pieces of tofu compared to before, when we couldn't even count the number of pieces.
I think everything's gone up in price by at least $1. The chicken udon is pathetic now. The udon was premade in a ziploc container. I could see the waitress taking it out and putting some udon in my bowl. Then she poured some watery-flavored soup into the bowl and brought it out. The chicken was cooked on a separate plate (nice presentation) but again, there was aout 3/4 less chicken than usual. the amount of udon noodles given was 1/2 less than before.
After they changed owners, we found ourselvevs to wait AT LEAST half an hour (not exaggerating) after ordering before the food would come out, even though its not busy.
Not worth it anymore, totally overpriced for the amount of food you're getting.
