Nimby Burger is a concession stand in the same building as Local Public Eatery offering burgers, fries and milkshakes near Kitsilano Beach. Operated by Joey's Restaurant chain.
I was feeling like a greasy burger and fries so I decided to try the new Nimby burger. Its basically a side window on Yew attached to the Local Public Eatery. I ordered the burger with cheese, a side of a fries and a chocolate milkshake. The total bill came to just under 10 bucks. It took about 10 minutes for the food to be ready as it was all made to order.
I took my food down to Kitsilano Beach and ate it on a park bench which was a little chilly. The food was good but the burger was on the smallish side. There was a healthy serving of fries which definitely compensated. The milkshake was great although I would like to see a wider straw to make the consumption a little easier. Overall I will definitely return and I would expect to see long lineups in the summer.
Food: I had the Nimby Burger. Nothing spectacular, and it doesn't really compare to Vera's down the street, but it was by no means bad at all. The bun was soft and fresh, and there was just the right amount of condiments inside.
Service: It wasn't very busy at all, so my order was taken promptly. I waited about 5 minutes for my burger (they cook the patty when you order, I suppose?).
Value: Considering that at $2.49, the price is comparable to a burger at McD's, this place isn't bad at all. Also considering the location (across Kits beach) and its competition (Vera's burgers beginning at $5.99 (?)), this place seems like a pretty good deal.
I hope this place stays! I'll be back!
