Solid pizza

My gf and I were up late and decided on something quick and greasy. I had a recent menu from them come through the mail and thought to give them a try.

We went with a couple of large pizzas: one with pepperoni, sausage and mushrooms the other a double cheese. At their price point these weren't cheap at all but the toppings were generous enough, the crust had a nice crispy chew to it and overall taste was pleasing. On ranking, this was certainly one of the better pizzas I've had compared to the throngs of small pizza joints in my area.

My gf picked them up and service was about typical for a small local restaurant. She made a comment about the rather drab finishings so I'll take her word for it as she usually makes no mention of it.

Strangly enough, Victoria Dr. doesn't boast too many memorable non-asian restaurants so for pizza at least, I'd make note to come back.

Just the right size steak!

Came her for dinner with my hubby last night. Been wanting to come but never did and always want to try their pizza too but didn't!!
We both had the 6 oz. NY steak special. It came with sauted mushrooms with butter and garlic, spaghetti and meat sauce and garlic bread and a salad to start. All for $13.95! The steak was delicious - asked for medium rare - and it just melted in your mouth! It was a small steak (6 oz) but very filling. For a person with a big appetite, probably won't do. The spaghetti and meat sauce is one of the best I've ever had in a restaurant. I don't usually have that but it was delicious! Garlic bread was fresh and nicely toasted! The salad looked very fresh and not all wilted! A very good deal for what we paid!!
The service was really good too. Our server sat us right away, got our water and told us the specials, even though it's posted on the wall! Very efficient and always with a smile on her face.
Like other reviews, the place is dated but it gave it a very homey feeling. It wasn't dirty or anything . . . just very comfy.
The other server in the restaurant said that she was surprised how quiet the restaurant was because it usually is packed at that time of night.
Would we go back . . . YES! Especially for the steak. Next time the pizza . . . or Wednesday for the souvlaki specials!

Had dinner at Neighbour's for the first time tonight after reading some other reviews, and I can't agree more - the food was superb. I had a pizza and the crust was amazing, not to mention the toppings - the meat was piled on thick! My partner had the $13.95 steak, spaghetti, and garlic mushroom special, and he said it was really good as well...I had a bite of the mushrooms and they were awesome.

Not the cheapest place to eat (pizza was $17, plus the steak/spaghetti and two drinks with tip came to $50), but the food was awesome and we walked out with leftovers (which rarely happens for us). Will definitely be returning in the future.

Decor In Need of Update

Food: we ordered the bbq chicken pizza and tetrazzine to share. bbq chicken has a light bbq taste covered by a lot of cheese. the pasta was quite tasty. sauce had a nice creamy texture with ample serving of chicken. we've frequented here before and tried their steak special and my b/f quite enjoyed that. i've had the lasagna, it's not blow me away but is very saucey and will hit the spot.

Service: took a while for our server to come greet us, but in her defense it was Vday and she was busy running around. once our orders were taken and our food arrived she did check up on us a few times.

Value: definitely there for the portion. they specials very often which are a great deal. ex. steak special: 6oz steak, spaghetti & meat sauce, garlic bread, and garlic mash for ~$13 (i think)

Ambiance: interior decor is very outdated. not a fan of the green walls, the excessive number of hanging plantars, old carpets, vinyl/plastic table clothes, and dingy chairs. i think of this place as a very casual dining experience, but i have seen others "dressed up" for a date night. To each their own!

Overall: this place is close by and if we're in the mood for casual pizza and pasta nearby it will do. dont expect gourmet or classy and you wont be disappointed.

What happened?

I used to go here sometimes when I was young, and went back for the first time not too long ago. A once reputable local joint seems to have dipped down a bit. The food is hit and miss. I had lasagna, which was okay, but reminded me too much of the kind of stuff you buy in a supermarket while my date had a more generic pasta dish that again, was simply too bland to go either way about. What really struck me was the bad decor. Cheap feelings all around with sticky plastic table covers and uncomfortable chairs. I remember a better experience, and wish it was still the same. Sadly, nothing seems to last forever. The server however, was polite and cheery.

Great Take-out too!

This is by far our favourite weeknight restaurant. We decided to order in this time, 2 small pizzas with 3 toppings special. The value was good, not too sure the exact price (I didn't pay), I think around $25 or something. Pizza is normally pizza, but this was great! Hot, homemade with actual toppings made with obvious care, not just slapped on. We called ahead of time to pick up and it was ready within 25 minutes. This is a really great place to have a casual dinner at.

Highly recommended to grab their take out menu and keep handy for weeknight cravings! They have countless specials (2 for 1 pizza, pasta, greek dinnners, steak....)

We wandered into this restaurant not knowing what we would encounter and
were very pleasantly surprised. The waitress was very friendly and helpful
and the menu was varied with Greek and Italian entrees.
The Snapper I had was delicious and I was able to have meat pasta on
the side. My husband had the Chicken Parmesan with meat pasta on
the side and we both received a salad with our entrees.
The place is homey and and we got good value for our money.
We meet the owner, George, who came from Greece and we had a delightful
time getting to know him. This is a family owned and operated place with
George's daughters helping in the service.
We would certainly return.

Best Local Hang out

I eat out alot and at different price points. I have no problem shelling out big bucks for great food and excellent wine. However, being of Scottish heritage, I am very pleased when I find a place that serves great food at very reasonable prices.

The last time that I was here I ordered the Louisanna Chicken and my husband had the steak and spagetti special. Both were excellent. The wine list is small but I enjoyed an Australian Cab/Shiraz. The highlight of the evening was home made Backlava. I understand that the owner's mom makes it fresh.

The service was friendly and very prompt. They seemed to know half of the patrons by name and it was a full restaurant. I will certainly return myself.

Been here a couple times and they never disappoint, mind you I did order the same thing both times, and both times I left feeling extremely satisfied. Last time I went was a Saturday night around 7:30pm and they were packed. I had their steak & spagetti special. For $13, you get a salad with choice of dressing, 6oz steak, a serving of spagetti and garlic bread. The staff are always friendly and attentive. Now if they they could only include a pop or something in the price...lol.

Decent Food, could have better Service

I came here to eat a week or so ago with a close friend of mine. We both just happened to live in the neighbourhood and have always wanted to try this restaurant. We came for lunch.

The food was delicious. We had the hummus with pita bread, and the Cajun Chicken and Onions pizza. The hummus was very good along with the bread. The bread was warm and moist with just a little salty flavour. They both went very well together. The pizza was just alright. It tasted like any other pizza. However, the waitress insisted that we dipped our crusts into the extra hummus dip we had leftover. Delicious!

The waitress was very friendly and helpful during the beginning of our meal. She took our drink orders and brought them back over quickly and brought our dishes in too with a great smile. However, afterwards she rarely came back to check on us. We tried to flag her down to get the bill but she was too busy talking behind the counter with her friend. We paid with a credit card and it took 10 minutes for her to bring it back. The restaurant was mostly empty for the entire meal. I suppose the service would've been better if she didn't spent the latter portion of our meal chatting to her friend and ignoring customers.

The food was good. But it was more pricey then I was used to at a regular Greek restaurant. In fact, the restaurant isn't even situated in Downtown Vancouver or a more busy area. I could get the same dishes for cheaper at countless other restaurants. But it was decent for being nearby.

The restaurant looked a bit run down on the outside but it was more cozy than old. The chairs were comfy and the restaurant was well lit from the sunshine outside. It was also air conditioned. Thank god.

I would come back here simply because of the hummus and the fact that it's nearby.

My friend and I ordered the "Steak & Lasagna" for $20.95. We both asked for our steaks to be well done. The steaks come rare in the middle... like it had never come into contact with heat. Not only that, but it was cold too. As for the lasagna... It was alright. Tasted like something I would get at a fast food restaurant. Definitely not home made. I should have went to M&M Meats and got lasagna. Much better.
