I recently went to Napoletana Pizza for take out dinner. We ordered a large pizza, half BBQ chicken and the other half was Tropical, and a greek salad. The BBQ chicken pizza was my favorite. It had lots of BBQ sauce, chicken, caramelized onions, and mozzarella and cheddar cheese. The Tropical pizza had ham, pineapple, tropical sauce and the same combination of cheeses as the other. The crusts were perfect, not too thick and not too thin. It was baked to perfection, with no burnt or hard crusts, so the dough was not dry. The pizzas were not too greasy, which I usually find to be thing that makes or breaks the dish, as I do like my food to be relatively healthy. The greek salad was a nice side dish. The vegetables were fresh, and the dressing, which was authentic, was left in a separate container so that we could add it ourselves.
The restaurant was a family run business, with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. There was a large TV to watch while dining or waiting for you order. Inside, you can see the whole kitchen and how the pizza is made, so you know what you are getting. Our meal in total cost just under $20, a large pizza and a Greek salad. I though this price was reasonable for the value of the food.
I would highly recommend this pizza restaurant if you are close to West 4th and Arbutus, and I look forward to my next visit.
I've had a hard time finding good pizza in Vancouver but Napoletana fits the bill for me. They have a good medium thickness crust, with a good "crunch" to "chewy" crust ratio and they don't skimp on toppings either in quantity or quality. You can get some of your more traditional pizza combinations (Margherita, Pescatore, Caprese... They have a whole line of beef steak pizza and it's really beef - lovely sliced steak. I haven't seen that anywhere else!
They've recently added several pastas to their menus and I recommend any of the supreme pastas. They are hardy, well dressed and on Tuesdays, you can get 2 for about $23.00 and pop one in the freezer for the next time making dinner seems too much.
The service is quick and courteous.
