Well, I went back

Two years later, and I thought the place has really gone downhill. Prices are up and the food is down. I asked, and I was told it's owned by the same people. You could have fooled me. Gone is the friendly service, the blackboard-style menu (they now have printed menus) and the atmosphere. The word is "tired". I was truly disappointed.

The room is quite nice but the food even though it is edible is absolutely not mexican . More like a gringo's idea of mexican food . Really not authentic at all , and I've been to Mexico over 25 times .The service is allright , most dishes are ho hum and overpriced . The salsa and lettuce are OK . I couldn't finish the tacos because I got bored . Try Lolita's instead .

Great Food / Excellent Value

Fresh authentic Mexican fare. Good vegetarian options. We had the tostadas and the tacos, both were excellent. The salsa and lettuce was fresh and tasty. Friendly service. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves real Mexican food. A great location for a pre-show or pre-game meal.

Very casual, clean, and warm environment. Order at the counter, wait for your food to arrive, and maybe take in a live band or two. The food is well priced, and the choices are far more interesting that most "Americanized" Mexican restaurants in town. The service isn't lightning quick, but the relaxed pace is welcome, and the food is worth the wait. True, the neighborhood is gritty - so if you need the sanitized perfection of a "Milestones" you might wanna stick to the suburbs.
