Thought I was in Thailand

I came here for a birthday last summer on a really hot day. The restaurant was really hot and only equipped with ceiling fan that looked like it was about to fall off any minute. There were flies flying around everywhere. Everyone in the party was sweatin' bullets. Our faces were greasy, we were fanning ourselves, but still, no one came by to refill our drinks.
The food was interesting, but I thought the portions were too small. Who would have thought they would serve fries and be able to charge $8 for it? Maybe I went on an off day. I would probably give this restaurant one more try.

The service was prompt, friendly, and unobtrusive. We started off with some paprika fries, which tasted a little like hickory sticks with some spice. I had the glazed pork belly, which was very delicious. It could use some more veggies though to offset all the meat. Friend ordered the braised beef short ribs which she liked as well.

Downsides to our meal was that it was a little chilly in the restaurant and I wasn't really a fan of the tables, as they were easily displaced and looked like they came out of an elementary school. No biggie though, that's really just me nit-picking.

Overall, it was a great dining experience and I will be returning.

Great place for a date.

This place is a great place for the date because you get to share plates and for a large part of the conversation, if you're stuck on something, discuss how cool this place is.
The food is exceptional, and it's not like anything you would find in downtown - and thank goodness because if it was in downtown, i'd expect the prices to go up dramatically.
Everything on the menu looks so good and I had the mussels and the scallops. Both of them were a relatively good size. Don't think of them as appys but more of small entrees. And if you think of it that way, it's really not that expensive. It's like a dish at milestones but you get more bang for your buck.
The wait wasn't too bad considering i didn't have a res on a friday night we only had to wait like 10 minutes.

Expensive but yummy

Very yummy food. My 2 girlfriends and I ordered masala fries, lamb shank, coconut hot pot, and scallops. Everything tasted amazing. Their guava juice is delightful. However, the food was quite pricey for its portions. We got 3 scallops for $12 dollars. That's 4 bucks a scallop. Ahem. That's really steep!

The environment was great and the decor was unique. It really does feel quite tropical.

I would go again when I have money. Which may not be for a while.

They had an off night

I went in there with a date to meet up with some friends and ordered only a glass of wine and some fries - the paprika fries. The male server said my wine choice was a good one, and a female server delivered the fries. It was a slow night so I guess we had the luxury of two servers. The wine was undrinkable. It tasted like crap, and the fries had an odd fishy taste. I sent back the wine and said I'd pay for it, but I couldn't drink it. I never thought they'd take me up on my offer. When we inquired about mysterious fish taste of the fries, the server simply denied our cross-contamination theories and did not offer to replace it. I paid for them too. When I suggested the idea of not tipping, my date became quite irate and I haven't talked to her since. Thanks a lot, Monsoon.

Good place to hang out with friends

I like the ambience, good place to chill out and enjoy my drink.
Portions are okay, and drink selection is good.
Last time I went, the server forgot or didn't hear my gfs order so gf didn't eat a main meal. Good thing we like to share and appys were good. Gf forgot about the mistake after a few martinis.
They could improve their desert choices though.
We tried some weird desest dish, and that was the first time I didn't finish a desert.

Great atmosphere!

I went with a group and we were super happy with the food and atmosphere/decor. Make a reservation! It is a small place and if we hadn't we would have never got a table even if we waited. They won't seperate bills and add 15% to groups of 5 or more. Between the 6 of us we tried the Seafood Paella, Paprika and MAsala Fries, Chicken Skewers, ceviche and hot pot. The Hot Pot was the least favourite while the ceviche, chicken and paella were big hits. We would all definitely go again. But not regualarly as it was a bit pricey at $20/person without drinks. But is was a great place to chat and we did not feel rushed out even though it was busy.

The restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere and at first glance appears to be a good find, however, the great green fades quickly once you are left staring at it for ages waiting for a server to appear and annoint the table with some fabulous fare. The only issue here was the total absence of fabulous. The veggie dish was definitely solid but the Pad Thai was disappointing to say the least. Finally I had to commandeer the server at the till in order to be released from my brief sojourn into mediocrity, it is a journey I do not intend to repeat.

Got a recommendation for the Monsoon from the Hotel we were staying. Usually this doesn't work out, but this was excellent. Had mussells in a thai curry source, smoked tofu and lamb kaufa. All dishers were unique and delicous. Service was very friendly and prompt. Expensive, but next time i'm in vancouver, i'll be back.

I really love the look and feel of this place. The decor is amazing and keeps you interested. My boyfriend and I ordered cocktails, for $7.50 a pop, and then shared the masala fries, which were presented really wonderfully and tasted excellent, and the peanut chicken skewers, which were $10 for 4 skewers about 4 inches long each. Service was good, nothing special. I really didn't like my cocktail, can't remember the name, some banana thing, but it was for sure NOT worth $7.50! The food was excellent but again, for 2 appys and drinks ringing in at 40 dollars and not leaving full, I wouldn't come here when I'm hungry. Unless of course you have that kinda money to spend..
