If it wasn't for Groupon, I never would have found this tiny hole-in-the-wall joint in Kerrisdale. Boy am I glad I took transit to get there, and boy was I happy to find out that they deliver to my neck of the woods!
For once, thin crust, non-greasy, non-salty pizza in Vancouver, even when piled high with eight or so toppings including shrimp, bacon, pepperoni and capicollo. All of the toppings are fresh, the sauce is made on-premises and the dough is hand-formed at the time of order. Oh, and they have a proper pizza oven, not those cheap-ass conveyor ones. This truly is gourmet pizza, and in the low-$20s for a large pie, a good value for the money.
Keep in mind that this is a take-out joint, so the ambiance is absolutely nothing to write home about. They have a couple of tables next to a magazine rack if you're really determined, but it's really not set up for dining in.
Highly recommended. Again, finally pizza in Vancouver that does not taste like salt-flavoured grease.
This pizza place is by far the favorite of my choice. I'm quite a pizza critic, and after discovering this place from doing a little bit of research, I do NOT want to go to anywhere else but here.
The pizza is thin and crispy, just the way one should be. It's not too overloaded in ingredients, but has the perfect enough to compliment the size of the pizza.
The most amazing part of the pizza is the fact that they can get the flavours of certain ingredients to POP.
I'm a major fan of the Hawaiian Deluxe, just because I can't seem to figure out how they are able to get the flavour of the mushrooms to burst in, while the strong flavour of the pineapple and smooth ham blends in all together. The combination of the flavours create such an amazing taste in the mouth.
This is by far one of the best places to get your pizzas from!
Just checked this place out and impressed with the crust - not thin/crispy crust but not thick either (~0.5 cm thick) and nice and chewy and fire blistered. Gives a nice flavour. The ingredients are good quality and generous enough. But for me, the zing was missing with no spices noticeable in the sauce and not a lot of complexity of flavour. But if you like a good crust, good ingredients and a simple flavour, this is a pizza I can recommend. Really a take out only place.
Moki's has been a fixture on Vancouver's West Side for over four decades. There is good reason for its longevity. Mokis makes unique pizzas (described as being "Montreal style"); a tasty, thinish crust and original toppings. I started enjoying Mokis pizza in the 1970s and, if anything, they have become better and better. My favourite is probably the "Spicy Salmon", a West Coast staple. This is not a "sit down" restaurant; it is for "pick-up" or "delivery" only.
