Gourmet pizza, pasta, charbroiled steak
Came here a couple weeks ago with the family. Mother, Father, Sister, Brother in law and nieces and nephews.
Came here on a Sunday, and upon entering we were seated right away. I had a Chicken Souvlaki with rice and potatoes, one of my nephews had Lasange, but can't remember what everyone else ordered.
Prior to our food coming, we had ordered a Calamari dinner to split between all of us....It was delicious.... My chicken Souvlaki and rice and Potatoes were fantastic (yum) Later on, they brought the dessert menus....some ordered dessert while others just passed (me passing this time around) I just wish they had Saganaki too, so I could have ordered that for appetizer
The Ambiance and the decor is just great. I love how this restaurant is kept clean and just cozy with great decor as I had said.
It was my first time coming here in 13 years (The food was great) My family comes often....It is a great place.....recommened
I went to Minerva's restaurant last week and had their #5 pizza. It was undeniably the best pizza I've tasted since the deep dish I had in Chicago. I also had the kalamari appetizer which was cooked to perfection...and the tzatsiki was thick just like the real deal. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The owner, his wife and son were all there with their boisterous Greek personalities which made me feel like I was at an authentic Greek establishment. Overall I highly recommend it!
Went for dinner with my bf who loves pizza and must say we had one of the best experiences ever! The menu has a lot of great selections, we went with the hummus and pita which was to die for, honestly one of the best hummus we ever ate (and we dine out a lot)! We ordered a half hawaiian and half spicy mushroom pepperoni. The pizza came out hot and fresh, delicious crispy crust and soft, fresh toppings! I dipped mine into the hummus and it was a winning combo. Waiter was definitely on top of things, filling up our drinks, very friendly. The bill was very reasonable for what we got and we will definitely be back!
We went to Minerva's last Friday, early in the evening. Had my 88 year old mother on her cane and my 84 year old aunt, as well as the Other Half and I. Even though there were many empty tables, the irritated-looking owner (?) said he wasn't sure if he could seat us...!.
We asked NOT to go up ANY stairs, as my mother's mobility is not good. He INSISTED on sitting us up ("only"!!) one stair, even though we had asked him not to, and there were many empty tables on the level part of the restaurant (without "reserved" signs....)
We were seated, and the "rush-them-out" started. Would we like a drink, were we ready to order...? Now, I realize this is a Kerrisdale tradition, with lots of older 'regulars' who know what they want. I still kinda like to take a look at the menu....this was my second time there.
The 'Friday special' of prime rib was not mentioned until we asked if there were any specials. We ordered a litre of the more-expensive (Chile!) house plonk and two appies to start. The wine was poured/spilled by a wait-person who seemed to be listening to someone else. Immediately after the appies, the mains arrived. Are you feeling rushed yet...?
In all fairness, the prime rib special was very nice. Both the OH and I had ordered it, and it was a substantial piece of very good beef. The older ladies ordered chicken, which one pronounced to be tough. Lots of leftovers, and they were packed and on the table before we had finished the wine. The offer of the dessert menus was in the same "listening to someone else" fashion, and we declined coffee and dessert. The bill was on the table, "thanks for coming" was delivered over our heads, and we were outta there...record time, less than an hour.
OK, good but not outstanding food, very rushed and impersonal service, slam-bam-thank-you-ma'am, and on to the next customer waiting for our table. No smiles, no pleasure in a full restaurant, no feeling that ANYONE was glad to see us....just our VISA card. We felt like we were being pushed out the door.
Not worth it, unless it is your only choice.
I've eaten the dining room a few times, but usually order pizza for pickup (save 10%). The pizzas really good! They're pan pizzas like Pizza Hut and the restaurants loads on the toppings. My personal favourite is the Minerva's special, so many toppings! For the dining room, I've had the lamb (would not recommend), baked lasagna (it's OK), and linguine with prawns (very tasty, but not enough prawns).
The service is decent, nothing to really comment on.
Overall, I quite enjoy the food and have become a regular customer.
While not a 'hot spot' (note the senior citizens galore), this restaurant serves delicious Mediterranean style ribs. Think dry ribs, spiced with herbs/salt, about half a rack... Nice rice pilaf, Greek salad, and pita bread. The portion are bigger if you order it to go. The calamari is nice too, fluffy and very dry.
Free parking in the area after 8pm.
Went here last night for dinner and everything was perfect. We had the New York steak which melted in your mouth and the BBQ ribs which just fell off the bone. My friend had the minerva special pizza and said it was one of the best pizzas he's had. The service was quick and friendly. Great neighbourhood restaurant. Suggestion: make reservations as it gets very busy on the weekends. Will be back soon!!
We go to Minerva's sometimes, and have had good experiences. It is a bit pricey, but the food is solid, and the service is pleasant and attentive. The crowd tends to be older (in Kerrisdale), and the decore a bit tired, but it works for the restaurant. Would recommend it for Greek!
My friend brought me there to try there pizza. The pizza came after 45 minutes and it was raw and soggy. When I complained there told me that is the way it is suppose to be. So when I asked them to please cook it a bit longer they gave me attitute. I paid my bill and left the pizza behind. Never again......
Two of us dined here last night. We chose this restaurant as we didn't feel like driving. We were both glad we did. The food was all really good....hummus and pita was really delicious. The caesar salad was better that most I've tried...really fresh with good in-house dressing. I had a pizza that was really tasty. My daughter had the roast lamb which came with Greek salad, potato and rice. She said her dinner was really good as well. I really enjoyed the excellent service. The place was packed, but everyone seemed to be well looked after. We'll return.
Minerva's: Come back to Earth!! Lukewarm, middling greek food should not be in the 20 dollar range for an entree. You are serving mall food to seniors. But, alas, you are packed every night, so obviously your formula is working. Service is brisk and slightly school-marmish. Time for a new pizza crust recipe - trust me, the crust you are using is famously bad.
I've been going here for 4 years and have always loved everything. Their pizzas are very good, and caesar salad is very garlicky, just to my taste. And all the rest of the meal is just splendid. The dishes were a little salty in the beginning but now, they are just right. Recommended for sure.
No other restaurant in the city can offer the consistent quality of this casual neighborhood restaurant. Great Prices. We eat here often. The key is long term staff and management who care...
Very nice operation.
