Milestones serves a seasonally rotating menu of Internationally inspired cuisine in stylish, relaxed atmosphere.
There's certain casual type chains that always deliver consistant food and service and this is one of them.
I met a friend on SuperBowl Sunday here and this is what I encountered and thought:
-I got a happy and courteous welcome from the hostess as I made it to the top of the stairs.
-The room feels spacious, the bar is to your right and the dining booths are on the left. Farther to the left stil is the kitchen. You can sort of make out what the kitchen staff are doing.
-The server was prompt offering drinks, checking to see if we were ready to order food, checking to see if anything else was needed. Very efficient, very pleasant in her demeanour.
-We ordered Wild Pacific Coho Salmon & a Grilled Seafood Salad. The seafood was not overcooked, the shrimp was done more on the medium well side which was fine. Everything was fine; although if the seafood was a bit more spiced up in its preparation that would have made the food a bit more enjoyable.
-Because the game was on it made for quite a noisy atmosphere, but the noise was not to the point where our conversation could not go on without shouting.
-The room itself was your typical dark woody feel, the bar and kitchen areas conveys a brighter contrast.
This restaurant will not disappoint you for a casual get-together for food or just drinks.
We had lunch here on a lazy Sunday afternoon, when we walked in we were greeted right away and seated. Good start! everything went well the server was kind and attentive. Food was good everything was nice and fresh, tasty. We had the mushroom soup, Thai chicken drumettes, salmon wrap. Good all around! we left satisfied, when we were leaving, we got several, Thank you, have a good days, these are always nice when leaving a restaurant.
My friend and I dropped in on a Friday night for dinner. We were seated within 5 minutes and our server was at our side so quickly, we were still just getting our jackets off. Typical Milestone's fare - although we both enjoyed our meal. We tried the Cheesecake sampler for dessert and just loved it. My only complaint would be the noise level. OMG - it was loud in there. Too loud. It took away a part of our dining enjoyment. Why don't restaurants consider sound proofing, white noise, or just how about turning down the volume on the music?
Went for drinks and appies late afternoon.
Our server was exceptional - she was very efficient and attentive without being too "in your face"
The only issue I had was with the olive tapenade in the baked cheese appy - there was a ground up pit which could have knocked a tooth out, but other than that, everything else was fantastic.
I would definitely recommend this location for a night out.
I signed up for Dine Here a few years ago and have only posted reviews when I had a remarkably good experience, or a remarkably bad experience. I am happy to report that this is for an OUTSTANDING experience.
My preference when dining out does not usually veer towards chain restaurants. I find it sometimes like eating in a factory, where the servers are popped out of cookie cutters and are reciting a speech. This was not the case at the Cambie Milestones. My server was genuine and told me all about what was going on in the restaurant without being a "pushy salesperson" She told me that this was a franchise and that they were trying things on the menu that the other Milestones don't have. I got to try a new beer I'd never heard of, which I forget the name, but it was cool to have the option. She also brought out a menagerie of animals for my 5 year old nephew without asking. When my meal came - I had the grilled mediterranean chicken - she brought a sampling of wine for free, "just because" it was her favorite pairing.
My only potential complaint was that the dessert menu is a tad overpriced. Nearly 8$ for Gelato and hot sauce is a bit much.
Overall, I was blown away by this experience because the server took every opportunity to do anything extra. She went above and beyond. Not to mention the view from the patio was stunning. I will definitely return to this location.
Well whatta you know. This mediocre chain may just be getting their act together. The Milestones on Cambie (I think its called crossroads but I dont know why) caught me completely offguard. I went in because I was starving and it was convenient . The room is beatiful and the view of downtown is awesome! So my thought was..."I wonder how they are going to screw this up"...but here's the surprise. THEY DIDN'T. The service was great and the food was tasty. More improtantly the people seemed genuine. Almost like they forgot that they work for a chain. Combine those things with a view and a wicked patio and it gets a thumbs way up from me. I'm gonna make it a regular stop in my summer patio tour.
They have children menus and provided crayons for my kids to keep them occupied.
The food on the children menu was good value, comes with drinks, ice-cream and cookies.
I will definitely take my children back there again.
my only reservation is they put us right next to the kitchen even though there were plenty of empty tables in the main dining area. Family with children are not second class and does not deserve that sort of treatment. Either decide you want to be a kid-friendly restaurant or not.
