Memphis Blues Barbeque house features southern comfort food including melt-in-your-mouth ribs. There are several other locations in the Lower Mainland.
I had good memories of this chain after eating at their first location on Broadway when they opened years ago. Unfortunately the Robson location leaves much to be desired. I first ate here shortly after they opened and was underwhelmed. I recently decided to give them another try to see if they had improved and unfortunately they have not. The pulled pork was dry, the beans uninspired and the bun on which the sandwich was served was cold as if it had just been taken out of the fridge.
I notice that his chain was #1 for it's type as judged by readers of the West Ender paper. I can only assume that the ratings weren't based on this location or I would advise the people who voted for this chain to get out more often to see what this city has to offer for pulled pork and home made beans specifically. Before its demise the Tap taphouse offered the best beans and pulled pork and both Peckinpah and the food cart Re Up are head and shoulders above this location of the Memphis Blues restaurants.
The sole good news is that the service was friendly and welcoming.
I got an invite to the grand opening today. I got to say today's flavor was spot on for everything. I had the chicken, both kinds of ribs, pulled pork, beans, slaw... bang one. Live music helps too. The place was rocking... As long as the quality keeps up. Downtown has a new bbq must go place.
Warning: If you tell the staff you don't want any sides except cole slaw, they will give you a vat of it.
The platters feed more people than they say, we've never gone home without leftovers.
The nicest people anywhere, genuinely happy to see you, family run.
The beef ribs (Fri and Sat) are even more awesome than the pork ribs, which are pretty great.
I've gotten their smoked turkey with cornbread sausage stuffing and sage gravy for the past 2 Xmases, not cheap but so so good and turns Xmas from a hassle for the cook (me) to time to just relax and drink too much wine.
