Martini's offers pizza with whole wheat crust, some Greek fare, sandwiches and burgers, and drink specials.
Martinis is my favorite neighborhood restaurant. I have been a patron of Martinis for years and I really have no complaints. The food always arrives hot, the quality of food is great, and portion sizes are GENEROUS. The green salad with house dressing is always crisp, flavorful and most important fresh!
The ambiance is warm and welcoming but at times a little dark. The wait staff has been friendly and attentive each time I’ve been.
My suggestion is the Chicken Burger. This burger isn’t your regular run of the mill breaded burger. First off, the chicken is well seasoned and grilled. It sits atop a thick slice of well toasted garlic bread. The burger is then topped with rich brown gravy, well sautéed mushrooms and cheese. YUM!! To accompany the burger, they serve a GENEROUS portion of home-style fries which are lightly seasoned with a little salt and black pepper.
For an appy, I suggest the Calamari. The calamari is always tender, crisp, fresh and flavourful. The small calamari appetizer is almost a meal in itself and will be good for two people.
For those of you who live in the area, Martinis does deliver and the quality of food and portions are the same as what you’d get if you dined in.
You’ll never regret choosing to eat at Martinis…LOVE IT!
I've loved Martini's pizzas for about 15 years now. The whole wheat crust is the best. Tons of flavour, perfect texture.
I've never had a pizza that wasnt perfectly cooked. The ingredients are always fresh and flavourful.
Service can be a bit better, but easily forgiven for the quality of pizza. Much better than any of those chains.
My girlfriends and I were craving for some tacos so we went to this nearby restaurant, Martinis.
OMG their salmon tacos was amazing!
One order is only one taco but it was only $5!
The size of the taco is about average.
We had 2 each and was enough.
Also shared the seafood jambalaya.
It was a decent amount for the price. Prefer the tacos!
I wouldn’t call myself a regular but I love Martinis great food great drinks at some of the best prices in the city! They have drink specials 7 nights a week and the food is basic rustic European with North American flare.
It had been several months since my last visit and I went with a party of 4 at 10pm on a Friday night. Walking in I knew something had changed the cliental was different the atmosphere was not the same and the staff were lost!!! They did not have any front line staff on aside from the odd server over the age of what looked to be 22 and the fellow my party figured to be the floor manager looked like he was just out of high school.
The service took twice as long as it usually does they did not have any bussers on so when tables finally came free it took them 15-20 minutes to flip them. Our 10 minute wait for a table which was free 5 minutes after arriving took us 30 minutes to get I wanted to grab a rag and do it myself.
The food still was amazing they have not touched the kitchen staff!!! Down side the drinks took as long as the food did.
In short the food is still amazing the kitchen staff has not changed at all! The wait staff had some green members but some veterans as well but simply not as quick as usual. The bartenders are green not the same as last year. The quality of the Martins just is not the same (no love). The management (if they even have any) is non existent.
At the end of the night I asked my server when did the ownership change? She was shocked and asked how I could tell! (I was right!) My answer was “subtle differences”. As long as they keep the kitchen staff happy I will be back but probably only for take out now!
I'm all about their whole wheat pizzas ... so many variations (over 25). Love their Cajun Chicken, Zucchini, Onion and their Chorizo Sausage, Red Onion, Spinach. Their French Onion Soup is as a friend says, "The Best Ever." If you're counting calories, this is probably not the safest place to go! :) Also, I am yet to find a restaurant in Vancouver with better bang for your buck. Drink specials are actually specials ... $3.50 Caesars on Saturdays.
Martini's has been around for a long time and their prices were alway reasonable. I bring clients here for lunch as it is close to the office.
The place is good for late night dining.
Recently I ordered the Mediterranean Chicken which is stuffed with sun dried tomatoes. It was about $12 up until recently, now it is $17. A little too pricey for what you get. As entrees enter the $20 range there are better values than Martini's. I won't go there for lunch any more.
We (my gf and I) went there last night to meet up with another couple for dinner. When we showed up, there was another party of 3 ahead of us, which is fine. Another couple walked in after us, and stood in front of the party of 3. A little while later, the hostess finally acknowledges all of us waiting for a table, comes over and proceeds to seat the couple who came in after us! Both the party ahead of us, and myself, told the hostess that we were here before them...but she just stared at us blankly and proceeded to seat them! No, they didn't have a reservation. That was just rude, not only of the hostess, but the couple as well. I did not see a manager so I couldn't talk to him/her about what just happened. We were finally seated, and I was seated right next to the couple who butted ahead of us. Not once did he look me in the eye, full well knowing what they did!
Food wise, was okay. I had spaghetti and meatballs, the gf had a chicken burger, but presentation did not resemble a burger in any way. It was a chicken breast covered with gravy and mushrooms atop a piece of garlic bread with salad and fries on the side. The other couple we were with both had pizza's.
Probably won't be back again, as the service and what happened to us there really irked me.
Stumbled across Martini's (directly across Broadway from the Mountain Equipment Co-op) and were very happily surprised! Excellent service, very tasty food (neptune stuffed chicken breast, and chicken tortellini with red peppers), verrry generous portions, and great prices. The room has a cozy feel, and the place was hopping for a holiday Monday evening. We'll definitely be back.
PS - my one big criticism was the green salad, which was an odd mix of nasty iceberg lettuce, red onions, tomatoes, olives, and pineapple (??), topped by a yummy house garlic dressing.
These guys have rescued the idea that whole wheat pizzas can actually taste good instead of like cardboard which is good as it's what they're known for. There are cheap beer specials, including imports on Wed. nights. The pizzas are very well presented, good toppings and tender crust, The appies are simple, large, served hot and universally good value.
The clientele is diverse as is the atmosphere, making this a great place, with old school furnishings, to hang out for solid inexpensive, pub+ atmosphere without pretense and attitude.
i really have no major complaints about this restaurant except for their dim lighting. It was really dark and i don't like, which created a very tired mood for me. i ordered their calamari for appy and suprisingly it came in a huge amount which we didn't end up finishing.. their ribbs and liguini was good ...the price is good for their portions... The servcie was excellent.. the waitress was really nice, very talkative and cracked a lot of jokes. she made sure everything was going smoothly. Overall, nothing too spectacualr about this place. A good place to dine, and have a drink..
This is one of my favorite restaurants. Roxanne is friendly and food is great, simply great. Lunch pasta special is my favorite, come second the feta cheese onion and smoked salmon pizza, yum yum, Wednesday is beer special day, chuck down those suds man......
Hi, I've been going to Martini's Restaurant since the late 70's. I do happen to love pizza. And I've been to many pizza joints in Vancouver. Martini's has been amazing; in all the years I've been going there, the pizza has been of a quality I can't get anywhere else. Not only do they make whole wheat crust and make it WELL, they have a nice assortment of gourmet vegetarian (ie spinach fresh garlic, feta > my fave!).
Something about the way they make it: the herbs, the cooking ... it's always excellent. In a place as trendy and changeable as Vancouver, these guys produce results time after time. The ambience is a bit noisy (fine if you're young!), nice selection of on-tap beers; and it's usually packed (lineups) at dinner time (another reviewer was asking why ... why? because they're excellent, that's why!
First let me say that the management and staff are very nice, the service is good, the pizza's are okay [although they used to have more taste to them] and the entrees are GAWD AWFUL for the price. Very substandard cooking methods. The chicken breast is like rubber and flavourless and so are the ribs. Their pastas are over cooked with very flat and flavourless sauce and baked with a gob of some nasty ersatz "mozarella cheese" on top. I had their apple pie for dessert and that was the worst of all. For although it was a generous portion, packed with nice big chunks of apple, the pastry was very tough to chew and tasted stale, as if it had been in the refrigerator for years! No, I won't be going back there for any substantial meals. But maybe only for a small appetizer with a beer, shared with a friend.
I like Martini's. We go once in awhile for lunch, and I order dinner every once in awhile. Delivery is incredibly slow though. The last time I ordered veal parmesan, it was so stuck to the container, I could not pry it out! It was seriously baked waaaay too long!!
I like the calamari, & sometimes the garlic cheddar prawns. The problem with the food is how inconsistent it is. Sometimes it's really good, and sometimes inedible. Never order the appy called Crispy dry ribs, I mean, you expect ribs, not like scraps of ribs in big huge pieces, ewww, I can't believe they even serve it, it's truly disgusting!
I really love this place. Their pizza with smoked salmon is to die for and they have something on their menu for everyone.
The service is good and I have always have a pleasant experience eating here.
If you are in the mood for good pizza or pasta... definitely check this place out. I highly recommend.
I come here a lot with my friends, the location is very central for us to meet and the food here is simply delicious! My favourite dish here is the Weiner Schnitzel which is veal with garlic mashed potatoe which is to die for here! I always order the mussells too and I dip my garlic bread in the leftover sauce, it is so good! The daily drink specials are also great! I come here on Monday or Wednesday because they have martini and beer specials! The decor is pub-like and very warm feel with the wooden walls. The service doesn't stand out to me in particular but there's nothing to complain about either!
me and my boyfriend have been going to this place twice a month for the past 2 years. I love the experience. the food is incredible. love the salad they serve before the chx tortellini. that and the pizza is the only thing we eat. it has us hooked. the service is quite funny because we usually have the same servers. at times the same person is nice and the next week they will be snooty. not consistent at all. but the food has us hooked so we dont even pay attention to that. we sit order eat and leave :D
The first time I went to Martini's I was impressed. For a small restaurant the food was very good. The first time I went was on a Friday night at 11 pm after a get together at a friends place. I order the Stuffed chicken oscar and substituted the greek salad for a caeser salad. My girlfriends had a spinach pizza and the other had nachos, I tried both and they were very good as well. The nachos weren't over baked and the cheese was perfectly melted. At first I thought the food was cooked properly and service was great because my girlfriend knew the manager for many years and he was there. So,I went back a second time with my boyfriend and two other couples and had the same dish, it was still good but this time we went more for the martini's, the cheesecake martini is the best as well as the purple haze ( I think that's what it's called). The third time I went was last Saturday and it was the same. We ordered the Calamari which was very good and large for 4 people to share. I once again ordered the same dish I had ordered the previous two times, except this time the sauce or the stuffing tasted like it had too much dill almost comparable to the smell of pine sol. My boyfriend had the mediterranean stuffed chicken which I though was good but he wasn't impressed. One of friends had a seafood stew, which when we asked the waitress if it was good she said it wasn't the greatest but when our friend tried it, it was actually good. The disappointment was with the side of prawns my bf and his friend had ordered in addition to his dish. The shrimp was gross, it was overcooked, the best way to describe it was like eating shrimp that had been frozen for way too long and then cooked. My boyfriend doesn't normally eat shrimp so he wasn't sure if it was him, so he told each of us to try and his friend was disgusted, he had ordered shrimp too and he said his was bad but my bfs was worst. We told the waitress and she was like okay and walked off. When it came time to pay the bill she had made us pay for the disgusting shrimp and also charged me for the caesar salad, even though the previous 2 times I was there and ordered the exact same thing I wasn't charged for the caesar salad. As I was paying the waitress was nice to our friends and said good bye and what not. Since I wasn't too please with the fact that she pretty much ignored the fact that the shrimp was gross I only left her a 10% tip, I normally leave 20%, she didn't seem to pleased with the tip amount as my receipt printed as I paid with debit,s he looked at it, pretty much just threw me my receipt, turned and walked away without a thank you or anything. I don;t like not tipping as people do need to make a living but I felt like I shouldn't have tipped her at all!! I tip should be based on service. I may or may not return as the previous 2 times were good, I have mixed feelings about this restaurant now. I would advise not going on a busy day
A group of us women have been getting together at Martini's for years (usually at Xmas time). It is always good food and good value. Last night (Dec 16), the service was absolutely outstanding. Our server (sorry to say I didn't get her name what with our visiting each other) was amazing. She was calm when we "ignored" her, kept our tea pots & water glasses full, split the bill for us, and let us sit and chat, even with a line up at the door. We'll keep coming back. The "June" girls.
if you have ever gone to martinis there food is wicked but service wow does it suck. if you ask for tzakik sauce it takes 5 mins to arrive to your table oh yeah that 5 minutes was spent talking to co-workers. i have been to martinis several times and most if not all the time service really licks, there is one gentlemen who works there big guy hes good. once i asked if i could order food they rudely said this isnt my section gimme a break
