Lemonia - Fine Mediterranean Foods is located on the lower level of the food court in the Royal Centre. Lemonia only serves the freshest and tastiest homemade Mediterranean style breakfast and lunch dishes. Daily "Specials" include our famous paninis, souvlakis, fresh cut salads and homemade soups. Catering is available upon request.
I was searching for lunch in Royal Center, and decided to check out Lemonia. I was surprised that the staff knew me, thinking where did I meet the staff, and they once owned Georges Souvlaki at the Lonsdale Quay. I still like their former location at the Lonsdale Quay, since the food is excellent, and I knew the food was going to be good.
I had ordered the Chicken Souvlaki platter for under $8.00, and got salad, roast potatoes, rice, chicken and for old time, they added homous and pita bread. I was not disappointed, the chicken was moist, great tasting with lots of flavour. I like the potatoes, rice, and the homous was definately great tasting. I was full by the end of my meal, and the food was a great as before, so you can't go wrong for trying out this location.
If you can get pass food court ambiance, this is a great spot to enjoy tasty lunch with value.
I will be back.
A few times a month, I always make sure to visit Lemonia. Their food is delicious and filling. The combo for $8.30 or so will fill you right up: your choice of salad (they have a great selection), rice, hummus, tzatziki, pita, potatoes, and meat. The chicken gyro meat is delicious-- not at all greasy and bursting with flavour. My mouth is starting to water just thinking about it. The potatoes are okay... a little soggy sometimes.
One thing I've noticed is that whenever I order lamb souvlaki, they never seem to have it. Maybe I don't come at the right time.
The service is great; the people who work there are very friendly and cheerful.
I was in Royal Center the other day, looking for something good and fast to eat. I walked past Subway (which did NOT look appetizing) and noticed a very sleek-looking, black and yellow little shop called Lemonia. It's greek, but looks anything but! It's quite nice looking (especially for a food court establishment) and the girls were quite friendly!!
I ordered a Moroccan Lamb Panini, and my eyes just about popped out of my head!!! It was sooooooo good! Nevermind the fresh spinach salad with real goat's cheese and dates! This was restaurant quality food in a food court. I'm definitely going back!!!
...Between the last review and when we went. A coworker and I went there at lunch time yesterday. At 12:20pm on a weekday in a foodcourt downtowm, I would expect high turnover, and thus, fresh food.
I had the chicken gyro, which was passable. The roasted potatoes, however, were so dry, they tasted like they were the previous day's leftovers. My coworker had the chicken souvlaki, and it was apparently quite dry as well.
You also only get half a small pita, which is definitely not enough. We went there based on the previous review, but we certainly won't be going back or recommending this place.
We got a little lost in the Royal Centre downtown the other day and came upon a small food court, primarily for the office staff working above. Looking around they all seemed a little generic but next to Subway Sandwiches we noticed a lineup at Lemonia. I was served by the happiest food vendor I have ever met and once chatting with her I found out it was a family business and they really care about the quality of food they serve. So I decided to have a chicken Pita and my wife the "special" vegetarian panini and a soup. WOW - why anyone would go to McDonalds or Subway or any franchised restaurant after eating here is beyond my imagination. The potato and leek soup was way better than my mothers - which I always thought was the greatest (and my mother still does :-). I had never tried a vegetarian panini before but it was simply delicious. My wife only let me have one bite! The veggies were roasted to perfection and the panini was toasted to perfection. My chicken pita was equally as good. The chicken was shaved from the spit and was as tasty and juicy as I have ever had served with housemade tzaziki. If you can find the location - well done. Trust me it is better than anything you have eaten in a foodcourt before.
I've been going here since they opened 2-3 years ago. I work in the same building they are located in. The service has always been metiocre but it has been going downhill over the past few months. Staff are snotty and not attentive at all. You tend to feel rushed. You can find better places at Royal Centre with decent food and much better service resulting in an overall better experience. I would not recommend this place merely based on the lack of service and customer appreciation.
It's always disappointing seeing a shop with potential
They have a nice facade in the Royal Centre food court, nice signage, and is the only Greek place around. You would think they would take some pride in their cuisine.
I ordered the greek salad with humous and pita.
I'll break it down..
Salad - watery, soggy tomatos, some cucumbers (my salad looked mostly red)
tiny bit of feta and 1 olive
Really? Do something better! Ask yourself why every other kiosk has a line up and yours has none.
Add some red onion, red or green peppers, get better quality cheese!
Spice up your dressing!? It was just oil and vinegar - I can do that at home! It had no flavour at all.
Pita - straight out of a platic bag. Nothing special, not that good for you. Flat and no flavour.
Humous - it looks amazing. It's too garlicy to even eat. I know that Greek humous should wreak of garlic but it was bitter tasting, too much for a business person to eat, which is definitely their primary customer.
I'm not writing to turn people away but more for the owners to read this and make a change for the betterment of their business.
Not only was ther service snooty, the potatoes and bread were rock hard, and cold. I went there for lunch at around 1:15- after the rush, though I don't think thats a great excuse to serve sub par food. The chicken shawarma was also cold and tasteless, and had been sitting in a metal tray (not on the spit.
It could have been a complete fluke, and possibly it was an off day for them, but I wont go back to find out.
Even though this restaurant is located in the Royal Centre fast food arena, I find the food to be fresh, well displayed with bright lights and colorful displays. The service is excellent, friendly and always prompt. The pricing is very good and you feel full and content after a meal. Very good, I would recommend it to anyone looking for this type of cuisine!
