Hidden away on a West Broadway strip, we found this little gem. The owners were hospitable and friendly, and though we had to order at the counter they brought us our food quickly. The place is nice in that it wasn't crowded, but did have a steady stream of what appeared to be loyal patrons. I ordered the smoked salmon panini and it was delicious. My boyfriend ordered a chicken panini and for dessert we both had their freshly made cookies. A cozy little spot to stop in for lunch.
I ordered the breakfast meal that came with toast, eggs, potatoes, and bacon. The eggs were not done the way I ordered them. And the bacon tasted weird.
The missus ordered a waffle and it was slightly burnt.
It is rather surprising to us that our experience was so disappointing when other reviews for this restaurant said great things. Upon closer inspection of the other reviews, we noticed that all reviewers, except for one, have only submitted one review on dinehere, that one review being for Le Village. Hhhhmmm.... I wonder what is going on here?!
We went to Le Village Cafe after reading the reviews. Unfortunately, the place did not meet our expectations at all. The bacons were tasteless, the fries tasted horrible and the food portion was small (we ordered Bacon Benedict).
We asked for fresh orange juice which was not on the menu. The lady nicely said that she can provide fresh juice for us. What she did not say was that the price of one small cup of fresh orange juice was $4.75 (almost as expensive as the food and at least twice as expensive as in other places). The juice was warm and so was water that was brought to our table.
In brief, we had much better experience in other restaurants such as Enigma and Sophies.
A very warm and inviting bistro where people are welcomed by Camelia and Frank. They have created a special place with European flair, great food and great service! They go above and beyond in customer service and always give you a reason to want to come back again and again. It is a great place in the neighbourhood and we go for their reasonably priced breakfast and chocolate croissants! Mmmm! It's a family and people friendly place to go!
This is not a five star resteraunt. It is,however,an outstanding
facility serving a wide selection of deli or bistro style food.It is clean and it's operators,Camelia and Frank bring their expertise
from The Cote d'Azur.Has a true European atmosphere.Prices are incredibly low.Has to be one of Vancouvers' better bargains.
I have yet to find another place in Kits where you can have a nice cappucino or latte with homemade apple strudel and *quietly* hang out on a Saturday afternoon with your favorite book. But if you are the 'need-company' type, come around lunch time on weekends. Orders can take some time then due to the success of their all-day breakfast but it is worth waiting (I personnally like to go after 1pm when it is quieting down).
I liked the Mediterranean food and ambiance. And the owner Camelia is so welcoming and friendly. When not busy, she'll stop by your table and start a conversation (you can even practice your French and Iranian!). Their dishes are home made and you can see most of them in the window inside before ordering. I recommend their vegetarian lasagna (but they also have the regular meat lasagna). Also, although they don't advertize is out loud, they use sockeye salmon in their panini or salmon benny (delicious) so for me that's a definite plus. Another thing I appreciate there is the way they serve food: whether you order a panini or lasagna, it comes beautifuly arranged on elegant china and there's always more than what you've just ordered (lasagna comes with salad and garlic toasts for example). Great little family place.
I like this restaurant very much. The music is soooooo nice, and the food serves rate is incredible fast. They have chicken/Ham&cheese/veggi/Tuna~~~Pannini. The taste is excellent. The breakfast special is so abundant that include 2 eggs, 2 bacons, toast and home bake potatoes. Bacon benny with delicious sauce or you can choose Ham/spinach benny.
