An authentic Mexican torteria where you can get a torta made with telera bread and full of Mexican flavours.
Tiny little plave with five tables. They make home made potato chips served with Salsa-- outstanding !! The sandwich is served with really good bread & is quite spicy but good. A sandwich, chips and drink was $ 13.50 but it was very filling. The place is spotless including the wash room
I love the sandwiches at Las Tortas, I have had almost everything on the menu and it is all good. Fresh veggies, yummy cheeses and meats, and nice fresh buns. Vancouver is really lacking in this kind of sandwich shop, and I find it a really refreshing addition to our local restaurants.
Favourite sandwich is the Choriqueso. Yummy fresh cut potato chips with spicy aoli. Delicious fruity drinks, and the tres leches cake is super!
I spotted this place while driving by on Cambie so I did a quick turnaround to check it out. I don't think I have had a torta since Duffin's on Main and 33rd which has been shut down for a while.
I order the slow roasted chicken which was pretty good but a little bland. Took a little while to be made which I didn't mind. It was a little expensive for what it was but I might return when I am in the mood for a torta. I would definitely try one of the other tortas though as the chicken was by no means exploding with flavour.
I tried Las Tortas for the first time this Saturday and I'll be back. That is saying a lot since I'm not a sandwich fan, too many university and work brown bags. Las Tortas' sandwich fillings were fresh; cabbage crisp, meats nicely spiced and the bun was crusty and fresh and did not go soggy next to the sumptuous fillings as many paninis do. The aqua fresca is a nice alternative to overly sweet juices and soft drinks and very refreshing, they brought back memories of Central American trips. The service was friendly and quick, they have set things up to help the newby make a selection and place an order easily. Even though it is geared for take out (the order form is printed on a brown paper bag), they do have seating for about a dozen patrons.
I just finished a slow roasted pork sandwich and it was awesome. It was fairly pricy ($11 for a sandwich and a pop) but worth it in my opinion if you want to treat yourself. There was a lot of great other options which I want to try out.
The place is clean and simple and the service was very friendly. It's in a good and convenient location.
Really good Tortas. I had the hawaiian and was surprised at its deliciousness, especially how they aren't afraid to throw in a couple of jalepenos. At $9/sandwich I most likely won't be going back, though, unless I'm not that hungry and I have someone with whom to split the sandwich.
The ambiance inside is terrible...even worse than a subway and the place was smoking hot from the sun/kitchen. I couldn't stand it and took my sandwich home for eating.
I'd only go again if I was in the neighbourhood and was really hungry enough to eat a $9 take out sandwich.
