We had a great evening at La Pentola. It was a special occasion and we decided to have the 7 course meal. You just tell you server at the beginning what allergies and foods that you do not like and they serve you dinner accordingly. The meal costs $60.00 and consists of 3 appetizers, 2 pastas, 1 entrée and 1 dessert. The food was very well presented, imaginative and had great flavors. The only item that I found to be just average was 1 of the appetizers – humbold squid server with runner beans. I did not find it that interesting. I guess I prefer my squid served calamari style.
The ambiance is okay. My husband said they are probably aiming for casual elegance. The room is softly lit in the evening but we were seated near the bar so it is not like there is a great deal of privacy. I also did not care for the dress code or lack thereof. All the servers worn jeans and couple of them looked at least presentable but some of the staff looked down right scruffy like they had just come from the beach. One of the servers even had flip flops on. Not really good considering the prices that they charge. That being said the service itself was terrific. When I mentioned at the beginning that they dishes seemed to be coming out of the kitchen too quickly and we wanted to relax and enjoy our meal they were very quick to respond to our request and thereafter always asked if we were ready for the next course.
