Food: Everything seemed very fresh. The aburi sushi was particularly delicious! Great sashimi. The mango pudding was really really good.

Service: Attentive and quick service. Very good. Our orders were never cut, unlike many other AYCE restaurants.

Value: Not cheap, but comparable to other AYCE places.

Ambiance: Very clean and comfortable.

I'll definitely be back!

Nice ambiance but a tad too cold for my liking

Went here for a Sunday lunch date with my better half. We ordered the all-u-can-eat for $14.99/each. The menu was satisfactory. Was not too extensive but adequate. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time. The sushi was decent but I had better. The Korean Bar-B-Q was pretty tasty as the beef we had was marinated well and has soaked up a lot of flavour. The hot dishes like yam tempura was very fresh and delicious. Some of the sushi and cones were falling apart.....but still edible and tasty. From the previous reviews about this place about the service I could not agree. From the start they offered us tea and had the food available in ample time. When asked for ginger or questions about the menu, the service staff was available and friendly. I was satisfied about this whole experience. Unfortunately the price of $14.99/each was on the steeper end for what selection you were offered. The dinner menu seems reasonable at $23.99/each but I did not see the extra selections. Would return when I am in the neighbourhood, but will not go out of my way.

Okay Food~ So So Service~

Typical all you can eat Japanese and Korean food. Just ate there for Sunday lunch. ONE FOOD THAT IS RECOMMENDED IS SHRIMP TEMPURA CONE. Big shrimp.... got to eat it while it's hot. We did found a hair in one of the sushi. We told the waitress and she quickly got us new ones.
Our waitress service was decent. She is Japanese and don't speak English fluently, but she at least tried! =) Other servers were so so.
When came to getting the bill, service was absolutely HORRIBLE. We had a coupon from Klip mobile online. We shown to them. They didn't accepted coupon from Klip mobile and said that they only accept paper coupon. We argued that if they publish that coupon on Klip mobile and we should have the right to have that discount. We talked for a while. It seems that they don't have a manager in the house to solve problem. That cashier just kept repeating that he can't make a decision and boss is out. Suddenly a waiter joined in the conversation saying that he faced 20 of this problems this month. I thought 20 cases that was a lot of problems and they don't bother to solve it. What is the deal with that?!

Great Lunch Place

I learned this restaurant from my friend. I am a big fan of Japanese food. I went there with my girlfriend. We couldn't find a parking spot. We called the restaurant and pushed our lucks to see if there were parking lots for customers. We were told there are free customer parking lots on back of the building. The salmon and tuna sashimi are very fresh. BBQ was a plus. My girlfriend really enjoyed it. The restaurant was well set compared to other all-u-can-eat restaurants. Overall the food was great, the environment was great. Best of all, I think 14.99 per person for lunch is very reasonable price.

Horrible Service

I WILL NEVER GO TO THIS RESTAURANT AGAIN!

I went Kyo for dinner with 10+ people. The service was HORRIBLE! We were not given tea at the start. We did not receive tea pot until we requested. Throughout the dinner, the waitress saw us waving (made eye contact with me) and ignored us many times. They ignored me even when I spoke in a loud voice “Excuse me”.

Billing was terrible. 1) They tried to charge us extra tip when they are not suppose to. 2) they charge tips on our bills therefore, forcing us to pay them full tip even when the service was horrible.

I requested to speak to the manager regarding billing issue and he kept us waiting for at least 20min before talking to us. Even after that, another staff came to discuss the billing issue so we repeated the story to three different people.

Even McDonald’s restaurant offers better service than Kyo.

This sums up my last two dinner experiences at this restaurant.

I'm just going to be generous for a moment here and start off with what wasn't horrible. Most of the food was acceptable, although if you're looking for korean BBQ this shouldn't be an option since the quality of their meat is rather poor. It was overseasoned/overmarinated and a bit too sweet for my tastes. I don't even know why they call their cones cones since they were more like cylinders rather than cones.

Don't even get me started on their service. This is where it gets ugly. Now, experiences may vary from group to group, but if you're willing to take the chance then their lack of consistency may get to you. Both times I went to eat, I was ignored by the waitress countless times, even after we had made eye contact. Both times, we were not given tea at the start and had to ask for it after sitting down for at least 10 minutes. But it gets worse. We were charged as a group of 8+ people (meaning mandatory 15% gratuity) even though our group was split into two tables (unable to talk to each other, mind you). When we asked for an explanation, the manager simply said that it was policy everyone to pay at least 10% gratuity, so we were charged that much, thinking that was the normal amount that anyone had to pay. It turns out we were lied to, as gratuity was not mandatory, ONLY for groups of 8+ people, but we were charged nonetheless even though we ended up having TWO separate groups of less than 6 people each. Frankly, I'm a bit disgusted by this behaviour as my own experience is not the first that I've heard of.

Never eating here again, and honestly, neither should you. Save your money.

Great food that also come with great service!

Whenever I have a business trip to Vancouver, I'd must visited Kyo. Its rare to see a restaurant that serves Korean and Japanese food under the same roof. Kyo offers both regular menu and All You Can Eat, I have always go for AYCE because I can eat the worth of value of food easily.
The food overall were great. The BBQ meats were tasty, especially spicy pork and short ribs were superb.
I like their Aburi sushi with miso sauce, salmon and tuna were really tasty. Sashimi were so fresh even the chef would show you how he had filleted a huge salmon just outta of a box.
Service were also good. My tea cup was always filled. Manger and servers were friendly.
I will definetly visit again.

I came across on Granville the other day and saw the old shabusen is now named "Kyo". I have to give it a try, the decor inside is very impressive. Modern n cozy with some big flat screen TVs, I think I found a nice place for sports events. The food are tasty and fresh, sushi are just lovely! Fresh sashimi and excellent BBQ meats! Very nice services. Now I referred to all my friends and family to this newly opened fusion restaurant. It's worth it to give it a shot!
